If you can stop the Chiefs from running the football, it thwarts their whole offense scheme. And even when they can run, Kansas City is a lot of things, but an explosive offense is surely not one of them.

The Raiders, on the other hand, are simply not scoring the ball at all these days. A look inside the numbers reveals all we need to know about betting this total.

The series Under is 18-6 last 26 times these two teams met.

The Chiefs Under is 16-6 last 22 games after allowing more than 30 points.

Nowhere to go here but Under.

    3* KANSAS CITY-OAKLAND UNDER

      Now about this complimentary winner

My free play for Thursday is on the Chicago Cubs over the Los Angeles Dodgers, as I think this series gets prolonged one more game. And I do want you listing Jose Quintana over Clayton Kershaw, as I think Los Angeles' staff ace will have a meltdown in this game.

While I'm wondering if Kershaw's postseason past comes back to haunt him for some reason here, I'm more intrigued with Quintana in this game.

Chicago's southpaw has experienced some tough luck in his first postseason, taking no-decisions in both of his starts. But here is a guy who allowed just two earned runs over 11.1 innings, including two runs on two hits over five innings in Game 1 of this series. And that was in L.A.

Quintana will do his part tonight. It'll be up to Chicago's lethal lineup to do damage against Kershaw, which I think it will, sending the series back to Los Angeles for a Game 6 clinch for the Dodgers.

      5* CUBS (Quintana over Kershaw)

Burns has been WHITE HOT for many weeks now and he's coming off a PERFECT SWEEP OF THE BOARD on Wednesday. He's got a HUGE Thursday lined up with top-rated plays in ALL five (NFL, CFB, NBA, MLB, NHL) sports. Don't get caught on the sidelines when he sweeps the board, again!

The Bulls have dominated the Raptors in recent years. That finally changed towards the end of last season, the Raptors breaking through with a 122-120 victory. The "monkey off their back" and now facing a considerably watered-down version of the Bulls, I expect the Raptors to deliver a "blowout victory" this evening. The Raptors were a lucrative 37-26-2 (43-22 SU) in the first half of the season, the past two years. Knowing they've got the improved 76ers on deck, followed by a difficult and lengthy West Coast road trip, expect the Raptors to improve on those stats, in convincing fashion. Consider Toronto.

3-1 Dodgers at the 1-3 Cubs. Boy we barely got bye with our play on the Cubs the Dodgers are so talented in their bullpen that once you get to the 7th inning game is over IMO and with the best pitcher in Baseball going Clayton Kershaw this is a easy call. Take the Dodgers for a 15* winner.

            Preview: Bulls at Raptors

            Gracenote
            Oct 18, 2017

The Toronto Raptors kept their core intact over the summer and plan to make another run at an Eastern Conference crown behind DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry. The Chicago Bulls, who visit the Raptors in the season opener on Thursday, have an entirely new look after waving goodbye to veterans Jimmy Butler, Rajon Rondo and Dwyane Wade.

Toronto lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the playoffs in each of the last two seasons and made an effort to make the offense more free-flowing and less predictable during the preseason. “It’s a fun way to play,” Raptors coach Dwane Casey told the Toronto Star. “That’s the way the game is going, it’s harder to scout. The game is so sophisticated now that teams scout you so well they know exactly what you’re going to do before you even get the rest of the sentence out of your mouth as a coach. They’re prepared because of video, internet, whatever it is." The Bulls committed fully to a youth movement over the summer and are predicted by some to be the worst team in the East. Chicago got a pair of promising young backcourt talents back in the Butler trade, bringing in Kris Dunn and Zach LaVine, and plan to play at a quicker pace as well.

TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, NBCS Chicago, Sportsnet One (Toronto)

ABOUT THE BULLS (2016-17: 41-41): Chicago does not have a player 30 or older on the roster and will have to wait to give LaVine his team debut with the former NBA dunk champion recovering from surgery to repair a torn ACL. “I’m feeling great," LaVine told the team's website. "I’m working every day getting closer and closer. I’m at eight months right now (following ACL surgery). As soon as they clear me to start practicing it’s all from there. I’m pretty much back to where I need to be at. I need to keep it going." The Bulls could also be without power forward Nikola Mirotic for an extended period after he was hospitalized on Tuesday following a practice altercation with teammate Bobby Portis that left him with a broken jaw.

ABOUT THE RAPTORS (2016-17: 51-31): Lowry agreed to a three-year, $100 million extension with Toronto over the summer, ending any speculation that the team would break up the Lowry-DeRozan dynamic. Instead, the Raptors went out and added another perimeter threat in swingman C.J. Miles and got set for a full year of power forward Serge Ibaka while installing an offense that encourages more 3-point attempts and more passing. “We were kind of at our best when we played that way, being able to get stops and just go play off one another,” DeRozan, who averaged 27.3 points last season, told the Toronto Star. "We excelled at a high level once we did that. Kinda just doing that more and make it an unconscious thing."

            BUZZER BEATERS

            1. The Raptors signed SG Norman Powell to a four-year, $42 million extension earlier this month.

            2. Dunn (finger) will miss at least the first week of the season.

            3. Toronto beat the Bulls 125-104 in the preseason finale but dropped two of three meetings in 2016-17, with both losses coming at Chicago.

            PREDICTION: Raptors 120, Bulls 99

                Preview: Knicks at Thunder

                Gracenote
                Oct 18, 2017

Carmelo Anthony won't have to wait long to get a crack at his old team as the Oklahoma City Thunder host the New York Knicks in the season opener for both clubs on Thursday. The Thunder made arguably the biggest splashes of the offseason by bringing in All-Stars Anthony and Paul George to pair with reigning NBA MVP Russell Westbrook.

Westbrook was a one-man wrecking crew in 2016-17, becoming the first player since Oscar Robertson to average a triple-double over the course of the season (31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, 10.4 assists), but the individual success still led to a first-round playoff exit. Oklahoma City wasted little time over the summer jumping into the Western Conference arms race and nabbed a pair of stars disgruntled with their former situations in George and Anthony, leaving the biggest question as how many shots does each player need to stay happy. The Knicks, who brought back center Enes Kanter, swingman Doug McDermott and a draft pick in that Anthony deal, finally committed to a youth movement centered around 22-year-old Latvian Kristaps Porzingis, who is ready to lead the team after averaging 18.1 points last season in Anthony's shadow. "For myself, I wanted him to stay [in New York], and to play with him and learn from him and so on," Porzingis told reporters of Anthony. "But from the other side, I understand that he needed a new challenge in his career and he wants to win a championship one day, so I'm happy for him. He's in an environment where he might be able to do that soon."

                TV:
                8 p.m. ET, TNT

ABOUT THE KNICKS (2016-17: 31-51): Point guard Derrick Rose is gone from last season's squad as well, opening up a starting spot for 19-year-old Belgian rookie Frank Ntilikina, who has been impressing coaches and teammates in camp. "Usually for a young kid like that, you've got to spend a lot of time explaining plays, explaining NBA sets. You're not able to go to all the little tricks and all those things for a while," New York coach Jeff Hornacek told ESPN.com. "With Frank, you can talk about them already. So that's great." Joining Ntilikina in the backcourt is shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr., who signed a $71 million deal with the team after averaging 14.5 points for the Atlanta Hawks last season.

ABOUT THE THUNDER (2016-17: 47-35): Oklahoma City coach Billy Donovan's biggest headache might be who to give the ball to with the game winding down, but so far he doesn't seem worried. "Carmelo's been a closeout guy the places he's been, the same thing with Paul. But any time you have a team you have to do it by finding the open man," Donovan told reporters. "Clearly for us last year, somebody creating and generating a shot for himself or someone else, it was Russell. But obviously now with Carmelo and Paul being here, I think it's about making the right play and right decision." Westbrook averaged a league-high 24 field-goal attempts last season while Anthony hoisted 18.8 shots and George put up 18 for the Indiana Pacers.

                BUZZER BEATERS

                1. Ntilikina (knee) and Porzingis (hip) are both expected to play Thursday.

                2. Kanter was third on the Thunder in scoring at 14.3 points last season despite coming off the bench in each of his 72 games.

                3. Anthony is expected to start at PF with George at SF and C Steven Adams rounding out the front court for Oklahoma City.

                PREDICTION: Thunder 125, Knicks 103

                    Preview: Clippers at Lakers

                    Gracenote
                    Oct 18, 2017

The Los Angeles Lakers have a new front office led by Hall of Famer Magic Johnson and a new roster that includes No. 2 overall draft pick Lonzo Ball. The Los Angeles Clippers, who will serve as the visitors in the arena shared by both teams in their season opener on Thursday, have a new look as well after waving goodbye to point guard Chris Paul over the summer.

Ball, 19, joins swingman Brandon Ingram, 20, and forward Julius Randle, 22, in a promising young core, and he is expected to start the opener after missing time in the preseason with a sprained left ankle. "Lonzo showed why he's going to be really good, but he also showed that he's been out for a couple of weeks with some of the turnovers that he had," Los Angeles coach Luke Walton told reporters after watching Ball scrimmage in his return to practice on Monday. The Clippers are breaking in their new point guard as well in defensive specialist Patrick Beverley, who came over from the Houston Rockets in the deal that sent away Paul. Beverley will share ballhandling duties with Serbian Milos Teodosic, who came over to the NBA from Europe after leading Serbia to a silver medal in the 2016 Olympics, and Austin Rivers, who sat out most of the preseason with a hip injury but is expected to be ready Thursday.

                    TV: 10:30 p.m. ET, TNT

ABOUT THE CLIPPERS (2016-17: 51-31): The preseason expectations are lower with the departure of Paul, but Los Angeles did manage to keep another of its stars by signing power forward Blake Griffin to a five-year, $173 million extension. Griffin averaged 21.6 points and 8.1 rebounds last season but only played in 61 games - the third straight season in which he failed to reach 70 games - and is excited for the opportunity to work with his new teammates. "We have a lot of guys who can contribute and put up big numbers and play key roles in winning games," Griffin told the Orange County Register. "It's not like two or three guys you have to key in on. We have a lot. We have so many unique talents, it's tough to game-plan."

                    ABOUT THE LAKERS (2016-17: 26-56):
Los Angeles owned the league's third-worst scoring defense in 2016-17, allowing an average of 111.5 points, and made a pair of moves to aid the defense by bringing in veteran center Andrew Bogut and swingman Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. "Our guys have really committed and bought in to becoming a better defensive team," Walton told reporters. "It's still going to take time, obviously. But as long as they keep working the way they do and want to continue to get better the way they do, then we'll be a very solid defensive team. I'm thrilled with the strides they're making." The Lakers also added a scoring threat in the middle with center Brook Lopez, who averaged 20.5 points for the Brooklyn Nets last season.

                    BUZZER BEATERS

                    1. Lopez attempted 387 3-pointers last season, 356 more than in the first eight seasons of his career combined.

                    2. Clippers C DeAndre Jordan led the league in field-goal percentage (71.4) last season while ranking third in rebounding (13.8)

                    3. The Clippers have taken three straight and 14 of the last 15 in the series.

                    PREDICTION: Clippers 104, Lakers 102

                              Preview: Predators at Flyers

                              Gracenote
                              Oct 18, 2017

The Philadelphia Flyers have been one of the top surprises of the early NHL season and will have a chance to avenge one of their two losses Thursday night when the Nashville Predators pay a visit. The Flyers dropped a 6-5 decision at Nashville on Oct. 10 after coughing up a two-goal lead in the third period, but have responded by scoring 13 goals in their last two contests to open a five-game homestand.

“We’re confident,” said Philadelphia defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere, who had a goal and an assist in a 5-1 win over Florida on Tuesday. “We’re riding high, but we have to keep an even keel and keep going.” The Flyers entered Wednesday second in the league in goals per game (4.33) and face a Nashville team that owns points in four straight contests (3-0-1) after a solid 4-1 home victory over improving Colorado. “We’ve gotten better and better,” Predators forward Viktor Arvidsson told reporters. “That’s a big thing. Now we’ve got to go on the road and try to win some games, too.” Forward Filip Forsberg has led Nashville, which is 0-2-1 on the road, during the point streak by recording four goals and four assists - two and one, respectively, against Philadelphia - while keying a power play that is 8-for-28 on the season.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, FSN Tennessee (Nashville), NBCSN Philadelphia

ABOUT THE PREDATORS (3-2-1): Defenseman Roman Josi returned to the lineup Tuesday after missing three games with a lower-body injury and contributed two points along with a game-high seven shots on net. “Good to be back,” Josi told reporters. “Obviously every time you’re hurt, you miss playing with the guys and being on the ice for games. It felt good to be back, and more importantly we got the win.” Arvidsson and fellow forward Scott Hartnell owns three goals apiece while defenseman P.K. Subban boasts seven points (four on the power play) to sit second on the team behind Forsberg (nine).

ABOUT THE FLYERS (4-2-0): Gostisbehere, who struggled last season while registering 39 points and a minus-21 rating in between healthy scratches, has gotten off to a strong start with a goal, nine assists with a plus-4. Jakub Voracek (498 career points) is tied with Gostisbehere for the team lead in points with 10 assists and captain Claude Giroux has warmed to his new position on the wing with four goals and five assists. Power forward Wayne Simmonds boasts a team-high five goals and sits two assists shy of 200 for his career, but is bothered by a groin injury and his status for the Nashville contest is uncertain.

                              OVERTIME

                              1. Nashville C Nick Bonino (lower-body), who has produced one goal in five games, could miss a couple weeks of action.

                              2. Philadelphia C Sean Couturier has recorded four goals, three assists and a plus-9 rating while primarily skating with Giroux and Voracek.

                              3. Predators F Craig Smith has recorded one goal in six contests this season and is one shy of 100 in his career.

                              PREDICTION: Predators 4, Flyers 3
