For Saturday, 2000♦ Double-Your-Wager winner is the Nebraska Cornhuskers as the road dog at the Purdue Boilermakers. At 8:00 am eastern time, the Huskers are the +4 1/2 point underdogs. Note: I advise buying the half-point up on Nebraska if your line is anywhere from +2 1/2 to +4 points.
The Boilermakers limp home pretenders, losing 14-12 at Rutgers last Saturday.
Jeff Brohm's team started like a house-a-fire, but over their last pair of games, the Boilers have only been able to post a total of 21-points in conference road losses, as Purdue's 2 QB rotation has been spotty at best.
Nebraska had a much-needed bye-week after having had to tangle with Wisconsin and Ohio State. The Cornhuskers dinged up defense is now healthy and ready to go against a Boilermakers team that has actually covered 3 of the last 4 in this series, including a wild 55-45 win in West Lafayette the last time they played in Indiana.
Both teams stand at 3-4 straight up, making this one pretty damn important when looking down the road at the bowl picture to come. Purdue has made strides under their first-year head coach, but I don't think they are trustworthy as the favorites tonight, especially since they are only 5-15 against the spread versus FBS schools.
Nebraska has covered 10 of their last 12 games played on grass, and they sure know how to score against this Purdue team, rinigng up 44 and 45 points in their last pair of visits to Prudue.
The bye week proves to be just what the Cornhuskers needed. Take them plus
