Zia Park - Race #7 - Post: 2:54pm - Stakes - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $140,000 Class Rating: 82 New Mexico Classic Cup Oaks Championship S.

    Rating: 3

    #8 WALTZING ATTILA (ML=9/2)
    #9 TO SATISFY YOU (ML=20/1)
    #1 FROSTY (ML=8/1)
    #4 IVY GIMLET (ML=15/1)

WALTZING ATTILA - This one likes to win on different ovals. The switch in venue today may be a wake up call. Sterling knows this horse pretty well. Strong win percentage of 75 when horse and jockey work together. TO SATISFY YOU - Strong return on investment for this rider and handler tandem. This filly is in fine form. Ended up second on October 16th. FROSTY - Juarez and Dominguez perform well when they work together. It's hard to beat a +31 return on investment for a jockey and handler. For my money, a bullet workout is the best indicator of fitness there is. Look at that last one - 48.2. Very impressive. This filly's last speed rating is strong enough to score here, I'll wager on her back again today. IVY GIMLET - This horse has shown the class ability to win on different racing tracks. Making the move from Ruidoso Downs for today's event, I have to believe she's ready to run. This filly is the longer price of the 'split' entry from the barn of Dominguez. I just may give this one a chance. Should improve off last race where she did run out of the money, but was within 5 lengths at the end.

    Vulnerable Contenders: #2 SIPPIN (ML=7/5), #10 MISS TWISTER (ML=6/1),

SIPPIN - Difficult to wager on any runner in a short distance affair if she hasn't finished in the money in a sprint in the last sixty days. I think this morning-line choice needs this race under her belt to start getting back into shape. MISS TWISTER - When examining today's class rating, she will have to earn a better speed fig than last time out to be competitive in this dirt sprint.

    STRAIGHT WAGERS:
Putting our cash on #8 WALTZING ATTILA to win. Have to have odds of at least 4/1 or better though

      Preview: Vikings at Browns

      Gracenote
      Oct 27, 2017

The Minnesota Vikings have had success no matter who lines up under center, while the Cleveland Browns have had the opposite experience. The Vikings look to win their fourth straight game and pad their lead in the NFC North when they face the winless Browns on Sunday at London’s Twickenham Stadium.

The Vikings can look around the NFL and find plenty of evidence that the divide between the league’s top and bottom teams is narrow. Four of Cleveland’s seven losses have come by a field goal, including a 12-9 overtime setback against Tennessee last week. "I think our team will believe that (the Browns) are a good team," Minnesota coach Mike Zimmer told reporters. "Really, they're not that far away. They're really good on defense. They just turn the ball over offensively.” The Browns won the last meeting, posting a 31-27 victory at Minnesota in 2013, to snap a four-game losing streak in the all-time series.
      TV: 9:30 a.m. ET, NFL Network. LINE: Vikings -9.5. O/U: 38

ABOUT THE VIKINGS (5-2): Minnesota has endured injury woes on offense, as quarterback Case Keenum has played well in place of Sam Bradford (knee) while running backs Latavius Murray and Jerick McKinnon have stepped up since rookie Dalvin Cook (knee) was lost for the season. The Vikings’ defense has been terrific, holding four straight opponents under 275 total yards to rank fourth in the league in total defense. Minnesota gave up a season-low 208 yards in a 24-16 win over Baltimore last week.
ABOUT THE BROWNS (0-7): As Zimmer noted, turnovers have been a huge concern for Cleveland, which has an NFL-high 19 giveaways - including three in each of its last three contests. The Browns benched quarterback DeShone Kizer, only to go back to the rookie out of Notre Dame after Kevin Hogan struggled in his only start. Cleveland ranks ninth in the league in total defense, but the turnovers have put the defense in tough spots, and the team is 24th in scoring defense.

      EXTRA POINTS
      1. Vikings WR Stefon Diggs has five touchdown receptions in his last six games.
      2. Browns rookie DE Myles Garrett has recorded four sacks in his first three contests.
      3. Cleveland RB Duke Johnson Jr. ranks third among NFL running backs with a team-high 314 receiving yards.

      PREDICTION: Vikings 23, Browns 13

          Preview: Raiders at Bills

          Gracenote
          Oct 27, 2017

The Buffalo Bills have been perfect at home thus far this season and look to remain that way when they host the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. Buffalo improved to 3-0 at New Era Field last week, when it scored 10 points over the final 2:28 of the fourth quarter for a 30-27 triumph over Tampa Bay.

LeSean McCoy ran for his second touchdown of the contest before Stephen Hauschka booted a 30-yard field goal with 14 seconds remaining as the Bills remained one-half game behind first-place New England in the AFC East. Oakland also is coming off a late comeback victory as it rallied to edge Kansas City 31-30 after Derek Carr drilled a 2-yard TD pass to Michael Crabtree on the final play of the game from scrimmage. The win, which was made possible by a pair of defensive penalties and sealed with Giorgio Tavecchio's extra point, put an end to the Raiders' four-game losing streak. Despite the triumph, Oakland occupies the basement in the AFC West and trails the first-place Chiefs by two games.

          TV: 1 p.m. ET, CBS. LINE: Bills -2.5. O/U: 45.5

ABOUT THE RAIDERS (3-4): Oakland is hoping Amari Cooper has turned the corner with his performance against Kansas City, which earned him AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors. The third-year receiver - who made 11 catches for a career-high 210 yards and two touchdowns - had not recorded more than five receptions over his first six games, had more than 33 receiving yards just once and hadn't gotten into the end zone since the season opener. The Raiders will be without running back Marshawn Lynch, whose one-game suspension for making physical contact with an official last week was upheld by the league.

ABOUT THE BILLS (4-2): Hauschka has converted all five of his field-goal attempts of 50 or more yards this season and has made 12 in a row overall to tie Matt Prater, Justin Tucker, Blair Walsh and Robbie Gould for the longest such streak in NFL history. McCoy's multi-touchdown performance versus the Buccaneers was his 17th since 2010, most among active players. Buffalo has won at least four of its first six contests for only the fourth time during its 17-year postseason drought.

          EXTRA POINTS

          1. Cooper made both of his TD catches last week in the first quarter, becoming the first Raiders' receiver to do so since Mervyn Fernandez in 1989.

          2. Buffalo claimed Lafayette Pitts off waivers from Jacksonville on Wednesday and released fellow CB Tony McRae, who was claimed from Baltimore two days earlier.

          3. Crabtree has had a TD reception in three straight games and shares the NFL lead with six on the season.

          PREDICTION: Bills 31, Raiders 24

              Preview: Colts at Bengals

              Gracenote
              Oct 26, 2017

Frustration is beginning to set in in Indianapolis as wide receiver T.Y. Hilton began finger-pointing after the Colts' latest loss. A week after being shut out at home by Jacksonville, Indianapolis will visit the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday in a series in which the home team has won the last seven meetings.

Hilton blamed the offensive line following his team's 27-0 loss to the Jaguars which saw quarterback Jacoby Brissett sacked 10 times. "First and foremost, I would like to apologize to the team and the O-line," Hilton told reporters during the week. "It was out of character, frustrated how the game went." The Bengals had their two-game winning streak snapped at Pittsburgh with a 29-14 defeat last week. Cincinnati ranks 29th in the league in scoring averaging (16.3 points a game) and is 31st in the league in total offense.
              TV: 1 p.m. ET, CBS. LINE: Bengals - 10. O/U: 41.

ABOUT THE COLTS (2-5): Coach Chuck Pagano reiterated that "nothing has changed" with the expectations about Andrew Luck playing this season despite the quarterback being shut down from practice last week. Brissett was battered by the Jaguars and has just one passing touchdown over the past three weeks. The Colts will look to take the pressure off their quarterback by running the ball, but top running back Frank Gore hasn't gone over 57 yards on the ground in any game this season.
ABOUT THE BENGALS (2-4): Cincinnati ranks fifth in the NFL in total defense but its offense continues to struggle behind quarterback Andy Dalton, who was clearly hobbled with a bad ankle last week. The Bengals also miss tight end Tyler Eifert, who was lost for the season with a back injury, and hopes to get wide receiver John Ross back from a knee injury. Despite seeing weekly double teams, A.J. Green is second in the NFL with 545 yards receiving and has scored three touchdowns.

              EXTRA POINTS
              1. Former Colts pass rusher and current team pass rush consultant Robert Mathis was arrested on Tuesday morning for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
              2. The Colts placed rookie S Malik Hooker on injured reserve during the week but could get Clayton Geathers back from offseason surgery to repair a neck injury on Sunday.
              3. Cincinnati's Adam Jones, who missed last week's game with a back injury, returned to practice on Wednesday.

              PREDICTION: Bengals 21, Colts 16

Tom Brady is carrying the New England Patriots at age 40 and looks to help his team improve to 6-2 at the season's midway point when they host the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. Brady has passed for an NFL-high 2,208 yards and is tied for second with 15 touchdown tosses as he squares off against Philip Rivers and the Chargers.

The 35-year-old Rivers is having a solid season with 1,816 yards and 12 touchdowns and is looking forward to his first matchup with Brady since 2014. "I don't try to shy away from that," Rivers told reporters of the competition and comparisons. "I don't feel like I'm playing Tom Brady by any means, but it's still a big deal to me, as a fan of quarterbacks, all those times getting to go against Peyton Manning (and Brady)." The Patriots have won three consecutive games and are fresh off a 23-7 triumph over Atlanta in a Super Bowl rematch. Los Angeles also has won three straight games to recover from an 0-4 start and trounced Denver 21-0 last Sunday.
                  TV: 1 p.m. ET, CBS. LINE: Patriots -7. O/U: 48.5

ABOUT THE CHARGERS (3-4): Rivers has been hot of late with eight touchdowns against one interception in his last four games, and Brady is one of his admirers. "He's a great player," Brady told reporters. "Always admired Philip, and he's a great passer of the ball. I think he does a great job of finding the receivers, the tight ends, he spreads it around. He's got a lot of confidence back there." Defensively, it is a ferocious pass rush that concerns Brady as outside linebacker Melvin Ingram (8.5 sacks) and defensive ends Joey Bosa (7.5) and Chris McCain (five) have combined for 21 of the team's 23 sacks.

ABOUT THE PATRIOTS (5-2): New England is last in the NFL in total defense (426.7) and ranks 23rd in scoring defense (23.7), and the situation didn't get any better with Thursday's news that standout middle linebacker Dont'a Hightower (pectoral) is done for the season. "Dont'a is a special player," outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy told reporters. "He does a lot for this team. He's a leader of this team and the defense. We know what we have to do to fill his spot. As a unit, everyone has to step up and hold each other accountable and get on the right page." The offense is averaging an NFL-best 410.7 yards and ranks sixth in scoring at 27.9 points behind Brady's latest solid campaign.

                  EXTRA POINTS

                  1. The Patriots have won the last three regular-season meetings and are 10-1 against the Chargers in Foxborough, including a victory in the 2007 AFC Championship Game when Rivers played despite a torn ACL.

                  2. Los Angeles TE Hunter Henry has nine receptions for 163 yards over his last two games.

                  3. New England WR Danny Amendola is day-to-day after hyperextending a knee last Sunday against the Falcons.

                  PREDICTION: Patriots 34, Chargers 20

                      Preview: Bears at Saints

                      Gracenote
                      Oct 26, 2017

The New Orleans Saints spent the last few seasons relying on Drew Brees and the offense to guide them into the win column, but it looks like the defense is finally ready to step up on a consistent basis. That defense will try to lead the Saints to a fifth consecutive win when they host the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

New Orleans shut out the Miami Dolphins in Week 4, scored three defensive touchdowns in Week 6 and held the Green Bay Packers to 260 total yards in a 26-17 win last week. "It wasn't like there was this huge message," Saints defensive coordinator Dennis Allen told reporters of the defense's turnaround after losing the first two games. "It was more about, 'Guys, we gotta do our job. And we can't have the mental mistakes, and we can't have the eye-discipline mistakes, because those are the things that come back and haunt you and come back and beat you.'" The Bears are leaning on their defense as well while rookie quarterback Mitchell Trubisky grows on the other side of the ball. Chicago safety Eddie Jackson scored a pair of defensive touchdowns last week as the Bears managed a 17-3 win over the Carolina Panthers despite Trubisky completing just four passes.

                      TV: 1 p.m. ET, FOX. LINE: Saints -9. O/U: 47.5

ABOUT THE BEARS (3-4): Chicago made a move to get Trubisky another weapon in the passing game by trading for wide receiver Dontrelle Inman, who had fallen on the depth chart with the Los Angeles Chargers after recording career highs of 58 catches and 810 yards last season. Inman passed his physical but was held out of practice on Thursday and won't have much time to get up to speed with his new quarterback. "As a football player, I’ve been playing since I’ve been 8 years old,” Inman told reporters. “If it comes down to it; there have always been guys that have played backyard football. Guys do it now even when they know the offense. It’s just a matter of being confident and trusting in one another."

ABOUT THE SAINTS (4-2): Just like the Bears have an impact rookie in the secondary with Jackson, New Orleans has one in cornerback Marshon Lattimore, who offer draws the coverage on the opposition's toughest receiver. "It's just a challenge that I've got to step up to and play at my highest ability. I just view it as a challenge I have to win," Lattimore told reporters. "So far I've been winning. But I gotta keep it up, stay consistent." The Saints remain explosive on offense but could be without their best receiver, Michael Thomas, who was limited in practice on Thursday and is dealing with a knee injury.

                      EXTRA POINTS

                      1. The Saints released CB Sterling Moore on Wednesday.

                      2. Bears G Kyle Long (ankle) was a full participant in practice on Thursday and plans to play on Sunday.

                      3. New Orleans won the last three meetings by an average of 13.7 points.

                      PREDICTION: Saints 24, Bears 13

                          Oct 26, 2017

The Atlanta Falcons will look to snap a three-game slide when they visit the New York Jets on Sunday. The Falcons were routed by the New England Patriots 23-7 last week in a rematch of last year's Super Bowl participants.

The preseason NFC favorite Falcons have struggled on offense in their transition from offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan to the former college coordinator Steve Sarkisian. Atlanta, which went 6-2 in the second half of 2016, will look to run the ball more in the second half of the season, according to head coach Dan Quinn. The Jets blew a 14-point, fourth-quarter lead in a disheartening loss at Miami last week. Josh McCown's ill-advised pass in the game's final minute led to the Dolphins' game-winning field goal.
                          TV: 1 p.m. ET, FOX. LINE: Falcons -5. O/U: 46.

ABOUT THE FALCONS (3-3): Quinn wants to see his stellar tailback duo of Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman, which combined for season-low rushing attempts over the last two games, increase dramatically. Freeman scored five touchdowns in the first four games of the season but has been held out of the end zone the past two weeks and leads the team with 425 yards on 91 carries. Julio Jones caught his first touchdown pass of the season in the game's final minutes last week and finished with season highs of 13 targets and nine receptions.
ABOUT THE JETS (3-4): Any shocking playoff hopes the Jets might have had probably went up in smoke after back-to-back losses in which they held two-touchdown leads. Coach Todd Bowles defended last-week's gaffe by McCown which cost the team a chance to go to overtime. "(McCown) didn't see the guy. He made a mistake. He'll learn from it. ... I don't feel any regrets about the play."

                          EXTRA POINTS
                          1. Bilal Powell leads the Jets' running back-by-committee backfield with 283 yards on 60 carries while Matt Forte and Elijah McGuire are also averaging more than 4.0 yards a carry.
                          2. Atlanta QB Matt Ryan hasn't gone over 300 yards passing since the first game of the season.
                          3. The Falcons are 0-3 against AFC East teams this season.

                          PREDICTION: Falcons 30, Jets 17

                              Gracenote
                              Oct 26, 2017

The team with the NFL's best record hosts a club that shares the league's worst on Sunday as the surging Philadelphia Eagles welcome the winless San Francisco 49ers to Lincoln Financial Field. The Eagles posted their fifth straight victory with a 34-24 triumph over Washington on Monday, only to learn less than 24 hours later that they lost nine-time Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters (MCL, ACL) and linebacker Jordan Hicks (Achilles) to season-ending injuries.

Although his team boasts at least six wins after seven weeks for the ninth time in franchise history, Philadelphia coach Doug Pederson is keeping the smaller picture in sight. "Quite honestly, I don't think of necessarily being 6-1," Pederson told reporters. "I think of it as just getting better each week. We have to win each week. We have to be 1-0 each week." San Francisco has failed in that mission every week this season, with last Sunday's resounding 40-10 setback against Dallas underscoring the team's considerable troubles. Quarterback C.J. Beathard was under duress from the get-go versus the Cowboys, losing two fumbles and getting sacked five times.

                              TV: 1 p.m. ET, FOX. LINE: Eagles -13. O/U: 46

ABOUT THE 49ERS (0-7): Carlos Hyde has failed to eclipse 68 yards rushing in any of his last four games, and now the 27-year-old will be challenged by Philadelphia's top-ranked run defense. Hyde has found smooth sailing against NFC East foes of late, rolling up five touchdowns on the ground in his last five encounters. Pierre Garcon has reeled in at least five catches in back-to-back games and five of seven contests this season, and the 31-year-old has 40 receptions for 470 yards in his last six meetings with Philadelphia.

ABOUT THE EAGLES (6-1): Carson Wentz threw for four scores against the Redskins to increase his season touchdown total to 17, one more than all of 2016. Trusted target Zach Ertz leads all NFL tight ends in receptions (39), receiving yards (494) and touchdowns (five) as Philadelphia has scored more than 20 points in 11 consecutive contests. LeGarrette Blount failed to get untracked on Monday versus Washington, rushing for a paltry 29 yards - with 21 coming on one carry.

                              EXTRA POINTS

                              1. Philadelphia's Halapoulivaati Vaitai is expected to replace Peters at left tackle while Mychal Kendricks, Najee Goode and Joe Walker will platoon at linebacker in place of Hicks.

                              2. San Francisco TE Garrett Celek will face his brother Brent for the first time as NFL players on Sunday.

                              3. The Eagles' offense leads the NFL in third-down conversion percentage (50.5), while the 49ers' defense is last in the league in that regard (49.5).

                              PREDICTION: Eagles 24, 49ers 20
