The Key: The Phoenix Suns have some great young depth that has allowed them to overcome trading Eric Bledsoe and the injury to Devin Booker. The Suns have gone 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall with only 2 losses by more than 7 points during this stretch. I think the Mavericks are in a tough hangover spot here after blowing a big lead to the Spurs and losing 96-98. They lost to the Warriors the game before, and the Spurs the game before. So after facing the Spurs and the Warriors in their past 3 games, they won’t be focused against the Suns tonight. The Suns are rested as this will be just their 2nd game in 5 days following their 108-106 win at Minnesota as 12-point dogs on Saturday. I like the value here with Miami as a short road favorite against the Hawks on Monday. The Heat are dealing with some injuries, but have still managed to win 4 of their last 5. They are expected to get a big piece back tonight, as Justise Winslow is expected to return after missing the last two.
Atlanta on the other hand is looking more and more like the worst team in the league. The Hawks have lost 4 straight and are now just 6-23 on the season. Playing at home hasn't provided any sort of edge, as Atlanta is just 3-10 at home.
I believe the difference here will come on the defensive side of the ball. Miami's been locking down their opponents, allowing just 91.2 ppg over their last 5. The Hawks on the other hand are one of the worst defensive teams in the league. They are giving up 108.7 ppg, while allowing opponents to shoot 47% from the field and 38% from behind the 3-point line.
Heat are 23-11 ATS in their last 34 road games, 30-17 ATS in their last 47 against a team with a losing record and are 4-1 ATS in their lsat 5 road games against a team with a losing home record. Take Miami!
