I'm recommending a play on the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night. The Pens aren't having a great December, but can turn things around with a win against the Blue Jackets tonight. Pittsburgh's power play has failed them of late but still ranks 4th in the NHL. They'll face a Columbus team that doesn't score a lot of goals and struggles on the road. The Blue Jackets have won just one of their last five road games, scoring a total of just seven goals in the four losses. The Pens lost 4-2 at Colorado three nights ago and few teams bounce back better in this spot as Pittsburgh is 21-4 at home off a road loss going back to last season and 12-1 if the road loss came by at least two goals. And finally, the Pens have captured six of the last seven home meetings with Columbus. The Jackets look to be "just what the doctor ordered," to us, and I'm recommending a play on Pittsburgh on Thursday. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.

The Key: This is a pretty cheap price on the Texas A&M Aggies tonight as only 11.5-point favorites over the Buffalo Bulls. I think Buffalo gets too much credit for its 7-point loss at Syracuse on Tuesday, while Texas A&M is getting docked too much for its 6-point win over Northern Kentucky on Tuesday. But make no mistake, Texas A&M is one of the best teams in the country at 10-1 this season. The Aggies’ only loss came by 3 points to Arizona. They have beaten WVU, Oklahoma State, Penn State and USC all away from home this year. Texas A&M is 34-18 ATS in its last 54 games as a home favorite of 6.5 to 12 points. The Aggies are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games following an ATS loss. Take Texas A&M.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have won only one of their last five games, but I think they'll get back on track here in the opener of a three-game homestand. "We need to find a way to put some wins together," Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby told reporters. "You look at the division, how tight things are, these are big games. We need the points and we want to make sure we finish strong before the Christmas break."
The Pens will host a Columbus Blue Jackets team that had lost back-to-back games on the road (at Carolina and Boston) before notching a 4-2 home victory against Toronto last night. The Pens meanwhile are well rested and 8-3 in their last 11 games playing on two days rest.
The Blue Jackets have lost four of their last five on the road and five of the last six meetings with Pittsburgh.
The Blue Jackets have struggled on defense lately and Sergei Bobrovsky has given up 18 goals through his last four contests. The Pens are averaging 3.31 goals per game home at PPG PAINTS Arena and should get the better of the visitors tonight.

There's no question that the Jayhawks are the better team in this matchup, but I think the public wanting nothing to do with a pretty average Stanford team has created some big time value here with the Cardinal. While this is technically a neutral site matchup in the Sacramento Showcase, it's going to feel a lot like a home game for Stanford, as it's being played at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento (just a little over 2 hour drive from the Cardinal campus).
Not to mention we have already seen the Jayhawks struggle against a couple of other Pac-12 schools. They lost 65-74 at the Sprint Center to Washington as a 22-point dog and 85-95 at home to Arizona State. They are now 0-4 ATS in their last 4 against the Pac-12. Stanford on the other hand is a solid 4-1 ATS in their last 5 against the Big 12.
I just think that given the location and this game being so close to the holiday that we see Kansas struggle to turn this into a blowout. Keep in mind it's their final game before opening up Big 12 play and have a full week off before they play their next game at Texas, so it would be easy for them to not be 100% locked in for this one. Take Stanford!

ASA PLAY ON: #714 CHICAGO BULLS (+10.5) over Cleveland Cavaliers, 7PM ET - We made this statement last night (and won with the Bulls) that nobody in the NBA is playing better than the Bulls right now. Chicago has ripped off 7 straight wins which included victories over the 26-7 Celtics, 76ers and East contenders Milwaukee Bucks. Chicago's average point differential in their last five games is +10.4PPG which is 2nd best in the league. During that same 5-game stretch the Bulls have the 4th best defensive efficiency rating and the 8th best OEFF. Both of those numbers are DRASTICALLY better than their season averages which is what the point spread is based on. Cleveland is off to an incredible start to the season and now stand 13-4 SU at home but their overall numbers are somewhat misleading. Despite that home record they have a home point differential of +1.7PPG which is 16th in the NBA or average which is why they are 2-14-1 ATS at home this season. The Cavs strength of schedule is very week and even though they were looking better defensively they currently have the 3rd worst defensive efficiency rating in their last five games. LeBron doesn't have the same mentality (Killa instinct) of a Michael Jordon and won't inspire his team to a big win tonight off a loss. For him it's "just" another regular season game. Grab the double digits with the red hot Bulls!
