MY SWEET REWARD - Good win percentage this jockey and handler twosome have been putting together. Have to like the way West has raced this filly back into shape off the layoff. Horse is well spotted in this sprint and I think she'll run well today. That 58 fig this filly recorded in her last event tells me she's a major player today. 'Blinkers On' is a time-honored positive angle in handicapping the races. SPANISH CANDY - I think the shorter distance will help this mare stay the distance. Coming off a fourth place finish at Mahoning Valley Race Cour, some may pass this horse. I'm not. She just missed hitting the show spot, and has respectable morning line odds today.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 MT HAYNESFIELD (ML=3/1), #5 PORT MARIA (ML=5/1), #12 REWARD'S GIRL (ML=6/1),

MT HAYNESFIELD - This filly has already lost as the favorite in back to back races. Hard to give her another chance. Should be difficult for this thoroughbred to beat this group off of that last speed rating. Unlikely to improve enough to run a figure anywhere near today's Equibase class figure, so put her on the likely underpriced equines list. PORT MARIA - This filly finished off the board on June 6th and wasn't close to victory in the last race either. Most unsatisfactory speed figure in the last race at Mountaineer Park at 7 furlongs. Don't feel this pony will improve too much in today's event. REWARD'S GIRL - In any affair of 6 furlongs, I like to play a contender that has been sharp in sprint events lately. Run-of-the-mill speed rating last out at Mahoning Valley Race Cour at 5 1/2 furlongs. Don't believe this questionable contender will improve too much in today's event.

Has to be given consideration versus this group displaying very strong figures lately and an average speed rating of 91 under similar conditions. STONE BANDIT - This pony has some longshot handicapping angles going for him. Is a definite contender - given the 94 Equibase speed fig from his most recent race. LONG MAY YOU RUN - Vaunts sound speed figures on average overall when measured up against the rest of this field. Must be given a chance given the class of races run lately.

DEVONAS PROSPECTOR - Will most likely compete soundly in the early pace battle which bodes well with this group. Put up a reliable speed rating in the most recent race. Can run another good one in this race.

ROSIE'S RENAGADE - Took a big class drop last out, and I think he may have needed it. Mendoza enters him at a similar class today. I'd expect an improved performance. You have to expect a better performance out of this gelding in today's race. He put in a good effort on the backstretch on December 11th only to run evenly in the stretch drive. Personally, I wouldn't worry about where he finished in his last race (fifth). Should improve right here in this race, with some decent odds. DUPLICATE COPY - Look at this gelding's PP lines. With each contest he keeps getting closer. Have to make this gelding a solid contender; he comes off a good effort on Jan 9th. STAX ON STACKS - I have to like this gelding's chances of winning at the shorter distance. This gelding won at this distance on Oct 16th and was at a higher class than today. I like the way this gelding's finish positions have gotten better with each start recently. A sign of a thoroughbred coming into top form.

Vulnerable Contenders: #5 SILVER JESTER (ML=3/1), #3 AWESOME IMAGE (ML=7/2), #7 STORM REVELER (ML=9/2),

SILVER JESTER - Not much value on this entrant at the probable odds of 3/1. AWESOME IMAGE - Generally I need a sprinter to have some recent success in sprint races in order to back him. STORM REVELER - This thoroughbred likes to land in the top three, but doesn't usually win. Keep out of the top spot.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - STAX ON STACKS - Don't look at the finish position last out, but take a look at how many lengths back he was from the victor. Should improve enough to grab the brass ring this time out.
