7 Unit Play. Take #810 Philadelphia -4 over Miami (8:05p.m., Friday February 2)
Tonight in the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia the 76ers look to start the big weekend in Philly with a big conference winner. The 76ers come back home after a 4 game road trip dropping 3-straight games and their last game the Brooklyn Nets beat the 76ers 116-108 and the Nets out rebounded them during the whole game. Miami comes to Philly dropping their last game in Cleveland 91-89 and their offense was awful and if they struggle tonight I see Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid having big games. Also tonight I see the bench play of the 76ers being the big key to a home victory and with the 76ers winning their last 3 home games tonight I see them snapping their 3-game losing streak and winning their 4th straight home game. The Philadelphia 76ers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games and the 76ers are 9-2 ATS after allowing 100 points or more in their last game. The home team in this series is 4-0 ATS and the Heat again will struggle on offense and the 76ers win this game.
3 Unit Play. Take #58 Minnesota -130 over Vegas (8:00p.m., Friday February 2)
I'm the first person to tell you that you don't bet against a hot team but tonight we are looking to bet against one of the hottest NHL teams this season. The Vegas Golden Knights come to Minnesota winners of 4 out 5 and they have won back-to-back road games but the Knights played last night while the Wild haven't played since Tuesday night. Minnesota has won 3 out 4 games and the Wild have won back-to-back home games. Minnesota is 12-3 in their last 15 home games and tonight I see a tired Vegas team on the ice.
3-Unit Play #802 Take Charlotte -3 over Indiana (7 p.m. EST, Friday Feb. 2)
The Hornets have a strong recent betting history in this series at home as they have covered in all of the last six meetings. We think revenge is an overrated handicapping aspect but it does come into play when teams have recently met, and that is the case here as Indiana scored a big win at home over the Hornets on Monday. But the Pacers are much better at home (18-10) than they are on the road (11-13) and the Hornets are much better at home as well (they are a horrible 7-15 in road games). This is a lone road game for Indiana sandwiched between two homestands and we think this is a bad spot for the visitors tonight.
6-Unit Play #809 Take Miami/Philadelphia UNDER 201.5 (8 p.m. EST, Friday Feb. 2)
Miami hasn't allowed a team to reach the century mark in five games. They played Houston and Cleveland during that span, and those are two of the best offensive teams in the NBA. They haven't scored more than 95 on offense in any of those games. It's safe to say that this team is on a hot under streak. They are playing at the slowest pace in the NBA this season. Philly's defense hasn't been great lately but they are decent overall and we don't see the Heat having a breakout night on offense against them. And the Sixers aren't good enough on offense to have a breakout night against this strong defense. We think this will be a close game and that both teams will really step up the defense in the fourth quarter and we think that overtime is the only thing that can cause this game to go over the total.
4-Unit Play #815 Take New Orleans +5 over Oklahoma City (9 p.m. EST, Friday Feb. 2)
The Pelicans were off last night. The Thunder played in the high altitude of Denver and had all sorts of drama with a last-second shot that caused them to lose the game that maybe shouldn't have counted as well as Russell Westbrook shoving a fan that came on the court after the game. No word yet on whether a suspension will be coming, but of course if that happens that can only help our pick here. This Thunder team is 10-21 ATS when being favored by four or more points this season and this team is just awful as a favorite. The Pelicans have lost two straight but they are the more rested team and we expect them to be boosted by the trade for Mirotic, who should be available to play here tonight.
3-Unit Play #817 Take Golden State -13.5 over Sacramento (10:30 p.m. EST, Friday Feb. 2) A motivated Warriors team is a good one to bet on and this team should be uber-motivated tonight. They had an off game when these teams met last week, in the Bay Area no less, and the Kings pulled the shocking upset. Then the Warriors went out and played their worst game of the season last time out in losing by 30 in Utah. Coach Steve Kerr ripped his team after the game and we are sure they will respond tonight. In these dog days of the NBA season even the best teams can have a lapse but it makes sense to think that they will put their best effort forward here tonight.
6-Unit Play. #826 Take Detroit (-2) over IUPUI (7 p.m., Friday, February 2)
We've won both our 5-Unit College Hoops plays this week, and tonight with the Titans we take it up one rung with a 6U top play Friday night. On paper, neither team has much of a leg to stand on. And we're not trying to blow smoke with a losing team in Detroit or upsell something not the case. But what is unavoidable is the fact that on the road IUPUI is downright horrible. The Jaguars are 1-12 and have lost their away games by an average of 15.5 points per game. This is a fourth straight game on their current Horizon league road trip, the previous three resulting in losses. So too with this one at Detroit. Because if nothing else, the Titans can score the ball. And yes, when they are off, this team isn't any good. But when Detroit puts the ball in the hoop, they can score as well as any team in the country. Their opponent IUPUI is scoring just 64 points per game on the road, and they won't be able to match the offensive output I'm expecting Detroit to produce in this one. Michigan transfer Kameron Chatman has been one of the best Horizon League players all season. Sophomore Corey Allen is a very strong second option. Both he and Chatman are both in the top seven in conference scoring. Add in freshman Jermain Jackson Jr. and the Titans have a legit triple threat. And at the end of the day, we're betting against the weakness of IUPUI as much as betting on Detroit, as the Jaguars are 9th (of 10) in league scoring. And of the Titans' 2-8 league record, five of their losses came against top five teams in the league. One of the others was a 15-point loss at IUPUI in the first meeting, but this second meeting will be played to a very different tune. Detroit has an RPI of 284, but IUPUI has seven losses this year to teams with a 250+ RPI ranking. So really, the writing is on the wall for a match-up like this. And if nothing else, Detroit owes us one from a mid-January game where we had a 5-Unit play on the Titans as a home favorite to see them cough up a late lead only to win but not cover a modest line. Here we get in the winner's circle with them, as Detroit finally, finally, finally hits on all cylinders offensively and overpowers IUPUI with a 15+ victory. Best of Luck - Strike Point Sports
