Charlotte has been a significantly better team when Malik Monk doesn’t play, which is also evident by his -159 plus-minus in just 474 minutes this season (-16.1 per 48 minutes). Charlotte has out-scored opponents by 161 points when Monk is on the bench and the Hornets’ average game rating when Monk is not in the rotation is +3.8 points (i.e. 3.8 points better than an average team). Portland is a pretty average team and my ratings make this game a pick based on current rotations. I’ll take Charlotte in a 2-Star Best Bet at +3 points or more.
