I back POTOMAC RIVER in this contest especially at such a decent 8/1. Boasts reliable speed figures on average overall when measured up against the rest of this group. Earnings per start in turf route races is formidable for this horse. The average class fig alone makes this horse a definite contender. RUNNINGFROMTHEFEDS - Always seems to be close at the finish. Rodriguez has this gelding running well and is a decent pick based on the decent Equibase speed figs garnered in route races lately.

This jockey and handler team has produced some sharp ROI numbers at this track. SPLENDIDA PERLA - Torres will probably be able to get this filly to break out sharply for this event. KOOL VER MILION GIRL - Have to think this entrant will run well following the quick turnaround.

UNCATCHABLE - Good return on investment for this jockey and trainer tandem. This horse brings in a lot of money per start. I believe he can add to that total right here. Horse got clobbered in his debut. With a trouble free race, I look for this one to be in contention coming down the wire. DATE ARCH - The rider/conditioner duo of Paucar and Reed has a strong return on investment together. Maiden is switching to the main track, and may not have liked the turf last out. Has a good chance to be a winner for the first-time.

SLANTED TRUTH - This morning-line favorite ran on February 9th and hasn't had a work after that. COBLENTZ - You think this horse is going to finish first just because he's always close. VALIANT SPIRIT - Generally accepted angle - 3rd or 4th start after a layoff generally leads to a big effort. Today's the day. Ran a lackluster race at Parx Racing last time out. Racing without the off-track conditions puts this filly at the top of my contenders list. While the finish was disappointing, this mount made a good stretch move in the last race at Parx Racing. Should do much better today. BLONDIE GIRL - Taking a trip down in the class scale; has the class ability to make her presence felt. You have to be keen on that recent race speed fig, 68, which is the best last race rating of this field.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 PRINCESS ROSE (ML=4/1), #6 BALTIMORE BEAUTY (ML=9/2), #5 LUCKY MEETING (ML=8/1),

PRINCESS ROSE - In any race of 7 furlongs, I like to bet on a contender that has been on the board in sprint races recently. Shouldn't have too much left in the tank after back to back tough stretch runs. Improbable that the speed rating she registered on February 19th will hold up in this race. BALTIMORE BEAUTY - You always figure that this horse has a shot to be victorious, but she falters most of the time. When looking at today's class rating, she will have to register a much better fig than last time out to be competitive in this dirt sprint. LUCKY MEETING - Hard to put any money on this mare on the win end. Likes to end up on the board though.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: The Brain - BLONDIE GIRL - Some may pass on this one given her lackluster performance at Laurel in last race. But that was on a sloppy track. Beware this equine today.
