A status update or a pick has been released to members. Nothing in College hoops today, lean towards Wichita State, Rhode Island and Arizona but just not strong enough to send out officially.
WE’RE ready for a big bounce back in the NBA as we push towards our +100 unit goal.
Here’s our best bets for the action ahead:
Washington Wizards @ Miami Heat
The Heat will get a chance to avenge their OT loss to the Wizards when they welcome Washington to the American Airlines Arena.
That loss remains the only blimp in Miami’s last four games and it seems Erik Spoelstra’s side are ready for a big push as they finally start to get healthy once again.
The return of Wayne Ellington is a huge plus for this team off the bench and his ability to stretch the floor provides them with a big boost, particularly in that second unit.
Bench production has hurt Miami at times this season but wit Dwyane Wade back in town, and the likes of Ellington, Kelly Olynyk and James Johnson all available the team has the balance that they’ve missed at times this season.
We feel the Wizards are being somewhat overvalued in this spot given they’re coming off that win against an injury-ravaged Pelicans team. After losing three straight games Washington have made it back-to-back wins, which included that OT game with the Heat.
Sharp money was quick to pounce on the opening price and we won’t be surprised to see it move again further as we head towards tip-off.
The Wizards have covered the line just twice in the last in the last eight meetings between these sides and we have a good lean on them falling shy again here.
Our data has Miami winning by 6.9 points and we love the straight up value on offer for the home team here.
Tip: Miami Heat @ $1.83 (Sportsbet) (1.5 units)
Memphis Grizzlies @ Dallas Mavericks
The Grizzlies head to Dallas in a battle of two teams vying for lottery balls come the end of the season.
Memphis will play their second game of a back-to-back after being held to just 78 points by Utah. In the teams last five road games they only gone over 100 points once and we feel we’re getting a very good total here as a result.
The Grizzlies are one of the worst offensive teams in the league this season. They average just 98.8 points per game while shooting at just 44.3% from the field.
Those numbers aren’t bettered by much by this Mavs team who themselves shoot at just 44.6% from the field, leaving both sides well below the league average of 46.1%.
Injuries have certainly hindered this Memphis unit and they head to Dallas very shorthanded with Tyreke Evans, Andrew Harrison and Mario Chalmers all joining Mike Conley on the sidelines
With no primary ball handler available it’s easy to see how they struggled against Utah, and while the Jazz are one of the elite defensive units in the league they were still shown to be lost on offence far too often.
Four of the last five meetings between these sides have gone Under the points total while the Unders has cashed in the last four straight games for the Grizzlies.
Our projections are showing a combined 190.4 points giving us a huge lean on this inflated total.
Tip: Under 205.0 points @ $1.89 (Crownbet) (1.5 units)
WE’RE coming off another clean sweep in the NHL and look to wrap up the week with some more winners. Here’s our best bets for the action ahead:
Washington Capitals @ San Jose Sharks
Tip: San Jose Sharks @ $1.74 (Crownbet) (1.5 units)
Pittsburgh Penguins @ Toronto Maple Leafs
Tip: Pittsburgh Penguins @ $1.91 (Unibet)
4 Unit Play. Take #518 Wichita State -3 over Houston (3:30p.m., Saturday March 10 CBS) 4 Unit Play. Take #524 Kentucky -4.5 over Alabama (1p.m., Saturday March 10 ESPN) Kentucky flexed their muscles yesterday against Georgia and I see a similar game today in St Louis. Alabama likely has done enough to reach the NCAA Tournament, and this is not a must win game for them. The favorite is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings between Alabama and Kentucky. Kentucky is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall. 8 Unit Play. Take #531 West Virginia -1.5 over Kansas (6p.m., Saturday March 10 ESPN) CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT GAME OF THE YEAR. Revenge will be served on the court tonight in Kansas City. The Jayhawks have had a cakewalk to the finals, but this is the game that they will miss having Udoka Azubuike. West Virginia should be 2-0 against Kansas this year but lost both games at the end despite controlling them. Throw in the fact that they got jobbed in the last meeting with a 35-2 free throw disparity and the Mountaineers have had this game circled since 2/17. This is game West Virginia wants and they will win it by 8-10 points. This is not a typical Kansas team this season, as they have lost a ton of home games and have very little size in the paint. West Virginia is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against teams with a winning record. 4 Unit Play. Take #538 Buffalo -6.5 over Toledo (7p.m., Saturday March 10 ESPN 2) The Bulls are far and away the best team in the MAC and expect them to take care of business tonight in Cleveland. Buffalo won the only meetings against Toledo by double digits. The Rockets are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games against teams with a winning record. 4 Unit Play. Take #544 Arizona -3.5 over USC (10p.m., Saturday March 10 FS1) I said yesterday that Oregon is not a good match-up for USC and I feel the same way tonight. USC does not match-up well with Arizona and expect them use their use to win this game. USC will miss Bennie Boatwright for this game. The favorite is 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings between USC and Arizona. The Wildcats are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games against the Trojans. 4 Unit Play. Take #558 New Mexico State -4 over Grand Canyon (10p.m., Saturday March 10 ESPN U) Best of Luck - Doc's Sports
7-Unit Play. #553 Take Texas Southern (-6.5) over Arkansas-Pine Bluff (5 p.m., Saturday, March 10)
Texas Southern took an absolutely beating by starting the season 0-13. Pretty much the Tigers hopped from one major conference opponent's gym to the next. From the likes of Gonzaga, Kansas, Ohio State, Oregon, Clemson and more, it was double digit loss after double digit loss until the SWAC schedule started on January 1. And despite such a dreadful non-conference, Texas Southern was still picked to win the league. That didn't happen but they were pretty much right there with the best of them, finishing 12-6 at one game off first place. Now they find themselves in the SWAC conference title game with a chance to erase all those bad losses early in the year with a bid to the NCAA Tournament on the line. Even further, they played Pine Bluff twice this year with two very narrow losses (three combined points) from their two's regular season meetings. Now with so much more on the line, look for Texas Southern and their high scoring offense to produce a game worthy of securing a spot in the Big Dance. Demontrae Jefferson scores 24.1 points while Donte Clark averages 18.7 per game. They are the best two players in this game, and this duo will lead the way into next week's tournament. Texas Southern comes in having won six straight with the exact goal of getting to this game and winning it. During this streak they've put up 91 per game. Against a team that averages 66 points this season, its the Tigers who take the SWAC auto bid in style.
