This is a matchup of two teams heading in opposite directions in the first part of the season. Tampa Bay simply is lacking offensively and they have a razor thin margin for error with their pitching staff as well. Boston has momentum with six straight wins and they’ve made the critical plays in earning walk-off wins in their last two contests. Rallying from two down in the ninth to win in extra innings in the opener set a tone for the series.

The White Sox continue to find ways to score to start the year and we don’t see that changing anytime soon. The home team is averaging 6.00 runs per game so far on the season, which included hitting seven in their loss to Detroit last time out. The issue is their inability to hold teams out, with their bullpen agains failing them in that 9-7 loss. They are allowing 6.67 runs per game against them and will hope Lucas Giolito can improve on his last outing. The 23-year-old gave up three runs, four hits and four walks in six innings against Washington but did manage a 3-3 record with a 2.38 ERA against the Tigers last year. Michael Fulmer was impressive against the Pirates in his opener this year but could struggle against a team where he’s allowed a 4.71 ERA. The Overs has cashed in nine of the last 12 home games for Chicago and our data is showing that to be the case once again in this one. Take the smaller total at good odds here.

Tampa Bay Rays @ Boston Red Sox
We really love the Red Sox in this one, particularly behind the arm of Rick Porcello. The 29-year-old was terrific in dealing with the Rays offence last week and should continue that dominance in his home park. So far this season, the Red Sox starters have been nothing shy of remarkable – it’s their bullpen that is costing them dearly. Their starting pitchers currently own a 0.86 ERA on the season and we expect them to again take advantage early in this one. While Jake Faria has fared well against Boston in his career he is yet to throw at Fenway and it’ll be a test to see if he can replicate his good showings against them. Back Porcello to keep the Rays hitters at bay and for Boston’s offence to find a way to score early in this one.
