    Eric Schroeder

    On to my complimentary winner...

The Vegas Golden Knights packed T-Mobile Arena in their first-ever playoff game, and that was on a Wednesday. After their 1-0 win over the Los Angeles Kings, it's time for Game 2 - and it's a Friday party on The Strip.

I'll play the Golden Knights on the puck line.

Vegas coach Gerard Gallant made Thursday an optional day on ice, as the team received treatment, did conditioning and didn't force anything yesterday at practice. Scratches David Perron, Ryan Reaves, Brad Hunt and Luca Sbisa all worked out with backup goalie Malcolm Subban.

Tonight the top line of Jonathan Marchessault, William Karlsson and Reilly Smith will find themselves with a fantastic opportunity against a Kings team that is now down three key defensemen, including its top two blueliners: Drew Doughty and Jake Muzzin.

Doughty, a Norris Trophy candidate who led the league in total minutes, was suspended for one game for "an illegal hit to the head" on Vegas forward William Carrier. Meanwhile, Muzzin and Derek Forbort are out with injuries.

If Perron and/or Reaves is in for this game, things become interesting for the physical Kings, who had several players overexuberant in Game 1. Kyle Clifford was running around everywhere clocking Golden Knights, and it's the type of play Reaves enjoys.

The mid-season acquisition told reporters Thursday he would love to get a good, clean hit on a defenseman or just a big, clean hit on anybody to send a message to the Kings.

Nevertheless, whoever is in for Vegas, the momentum will carry over and the roaring crowd of 18,000+ will spark Wild Bill (Karlsson) to an offensive explosion tonight against Kings goalie Jonathan Quick, who is expected to start.

Take the Golden Knights as my free play.
