"the first game was amazing, a pretty cool experience," winnipeg forward nikolaj ehlers told the media after recording an assist and finishing with a plus-2 rating in helping the jets take a 2-0 series lead. "we played ok, but we took a huge step (friday). now we want more steps." a necessary step for minnesota to try and make this a series is to provide goaltender devin dubnyk some help, as he has faced 84 shots on goal through two games amid relentless pressure from all four winnipeg lines. dubnyk registered 40 saves in game 2 and kept the wild within one goal entering the third period for the second consecutive contest, but the jets blew it open in the final period and outhit minnesota 38-23. "we couldn't answer their momentum," minnesota captain mikko koivu told reporters. "they got the pucks deep and pressured our (defensemen) and we couldn't come with passes and clear the zone like we usually do. that's our strength and we've got to find that."

"fun for us because we're up 2-0 obviously. i'm sure they're not too happy right now, but we're going back to their building and we know it's going to be a battle back there." star defenseman drew doughty will return from a one-game suspension for the kings, who are not showing any signs of panic despite losing the longest game in franchise history. "it's not devastating," los angeles coach john stevens said. "we expended a lot of energy but it doesn't matter if you win in regulation or in quadruple overtime, it still counts as one. they won their two home games so we have to go home and get to work."

IRISH GOODBYE - This jockey and handler are dependable together. Winning pct when teamed up is extremely hard to one up. Martin is solid in turf routes. This horse should have no allowances if he doesn't win. He has the highest earnings per race. Give the once over to this horse. EL ALTENO - Looking at today's class figure, this racer is up against an easier group than last race out at Golden Gate Fields. Based on his last TrackMaster turf number alone, I'm going to play this horse. March has this mount running well coming into today. 3 strong Equibase speed figs in most recent events make me say this thoroughbred will be tough in today's race.

RUN LIKE RHETT - Tough to like the downward moving flow (92/85/75) of speed ratings. Didn't hit the board on Mar 17th at Santa Anita. Followed it up with another less than stellar outing. JUST NIK - Hard to play this thoroughbred out of the Feb 24th event. Only faced maidens in that one.

ROCKET FUEL - Hasn't run at today's trip recently but does have a rating garnered last time he tried this distance good enough to win. I like this horse. Should be familiar with this level since he ran against the same type last out at Santa Anita. Last ran at Santa Anita and finished fourth. Reviewing his past performance lines, I see he was close at the end, within 5 of the winner. JAY MAKES US LAUGH - I think the shorter trip will help this gelding stay the trip. Stute brings him right back. I suggest you stick with this live gelding. Comes out of a last contest against 'open' company on March 31st and faces what I believe are easier 'state breds' today. This horse has increased his speed ratings from a fig of 92 to 94 to 104 in a row. Have to like the way Stute has raced this gelding back into shape off the layoff. Horse is well spotted in this sprint and I think he'll run well today. TRICKONOMICS - Strong return on investment for this rider and handler tandem. Trainer, Bonde, has been deliberate with this gelding off the layoff. Look for a solid effort today. EASTER MORN - Has unearthed a great spot today.

SWISS MINISTER - May bounce off of that last bang up job. HARDCORE TROUBADOR - Exhibited indications of physical problems in the affair on March 4th at Los Alamitos (Quarter Hor. SOUTHERN WARLORD - Not easy to play this racer this time around. Make him show you something in a sprint race before you play him in a race of 5 1/2 furlongs. Speed kills. Plenty of early speed in this affair compromises this horse's hopes.
