          NHL | Predators vs Avalanche
Play on: Avalanche +145 at 5Dimes

Colorado is in must-win mode down 2-0 to Nashville. The Avalanche have not been overwhelmed in losing the first two games. They held early leads in both games. Coming home should be big for the Avalanche, who have won 20 of their last 27 games at Pepsi Center. As good as the Predators are they don't have a superstar scorer the caliber of Nathan MacKinnon. Nashville is fat and happy up 2-0. The young Avalanche know they're dead if they lose this one. The Predators are going to have to take the Avalanche's best punch in order to win this game. The price is large enough to back the home 'dog. (Editor's note: Stephen Nover has won 86 percent of his last nine NHL totals and has two Stanley Cup totals plays going today. Don't miss either as Stephen is solidly beating the NHL for a third straight season!)

1 Unit FREE PLAY on Chicago White Sox +133
I’ll take a shot with the White Sox are +133 underdogs on the road over the Oakland A’s today. The White Sox have not played since Thursday due to weather and will be hungry when they hit the field for Game 1 of this series with the A’s. And getting Reynaldo Lopez at this kind of price is too good to pass up. Lopez has posted a 0.69 ERA and 0.85 WHIP in his two starts this season. Daniel Mengden has never had success at the major league level in any season. He is 1-2 with a 6.19 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in his three starts this season. The A’s are 2-7 in Mengden’s last nine home starts. Chicago is 8-3 in its last 11 meetings in Oakland. Give me the White Sox.

                10* FREE MLB PICK (Rays -1.5, +125)
I'll take my chances with Tampa Bay winning by at least 2 runs in Monday's home game against the Rangers. The Rays were just swept by the Phillies at home and have lost 4 straight overall, which I believe will have them 100% focused on getting this new series with Texas off to a strong start. For me, this all comes down to the starting pitching matchup. Tampa Bay sends out Blake Snell, who is better than he gets credit for. The Rangers will send out Martin Perez, who has been atrocious in his first two starts. Perez has allowed 11 runs on 19 hits and 4 walks with just 3 strikeouts in 8 1/3 innings of work. Hard to see Perez just flipping a switch here. Great spot here for the Rays to put up a big number and with Snell on the mound they should cruise to a win. Give me Tampa Bay -1.5 (+125)!

The Preds won the first two games of this series in dominating fashion as you might imagine that they might having won 13 of the L16 in the series over just the last three years. The Preds headed on the up escalator in winning 5 of 6 after a flat spot. The Avalanche limped in the playoffs and are now on a 2-7 run since 3/26 without much in the way for prospects of turning things around. Pred goalie Rinne hasn't played especially well or things would really be ugly. Take Nashville.

Nashville vs Colorado Free Pick April 16, 2018

I bet on the Predators in both the first two games of this series, and one of the things I talked about was how well Nashville plays on home ice. The Preds aren't quite as dominant away from home, and given how competitive this series has been so far, I think there's value backing Colorado as a home dog in Game 3. The Avs actually have one of the best home record in the Western Conference, going 28-11-2 at the Pepsi Center. Jonathan Bernier was rock solid at home, posting a record of 13-4 with a 2.34 GAA. The Avs also boast top special teams units, with the league's #4 ranked penalty kill and 8th ranked power play. Nathan McKinnon finished second in the NHL in points (per game) with 97 points in 74 games. He did the majority of the damage at home, scoring 27 goals and adding 40 assists in 39 games. Colorado should give the Predators all they can handle here in Game 3.

                    Take COL +1.5.

                    GL,

#MLB FREE PICK FROM MIKE LUNDIN
The New York Mets are off to their best start in franchise history and recorded a 3-2 victory against Milwaukee on Sunday. They'll host Washington Nationals in the opener of a three-game series at Citi Field tonight, and I think we're getting a reasonable price on the home team.
Jacob deGrom (2-0, 3.06 ERA) will take the ball for NYM. He's coming off a sub-par outing at Miami (gave up four runs through six frames), but held the Nats to a pair of runs (one earned) in six innings of an 8-2 triumph at Washington on April 5. deGrom is 6-4 with a 2.68 ERA in 13 career starts against the Nationals and has the current roster limited to a .213 AVG.
The Nats hand the ball to Jeremy Hellickson who will make his season debut. Hellickson is 2-4 with a 7.81 ERA in eight career starts against the Mets.
Washington has been outscored 58-38 during a 3-9 spell. A breakthrough is unlikely against the the hottest team in baseball.
                      Free pick on NY Mets.

Your Monday freebie is the Warriors to head to San Antonio up 2-games to none, as Golden State once again stretches it against the Spurs.

No Steph Curry, but no problem over the weekend, as coach Steve Kerr inserted Andre Iguodala as starting point guard, and it paid dividends as Golden State cruised to a 21-point win, 113-92! By starting Iggy, the Warriors were able to run their offense through Kevin Durant - 24 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists - as Durant continues to be a mismatch for the Spurs.

San Antonio did well to make it into the postseason yet again, but this is an older team, a team that has played without their number one player - Kawhi Leonard - pretty much all season long, a team that will once again get rocked on the road this Monday night.

Golden State swept San Antonio out of the postseason last year, covering in all 4 of their wins, and the Dubs are now on a 6-2 against the spread roll the past 8 times they have faced San Antone.

Go ahead and lay the wood tonight with Golden State.

My free play is on the Jays winning this big, as the rout will be on by the fifth inning.

IMPORTANT: As you know every single Run Line play and Total wager will automatically list the scheduled starting pitchers at the time of the wager. But with this game I am not concerned with who is pitching for either team tonight and want you playing this game on the Run Line regardless. That said, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to be sure you have action even if one of the pitchers scheduled to start is scratched, by betting the game over again in the event that takes place.

The Royals arrive north of the border at 3-10, their worst start over 13 games since 2012 when they also opened the campaign with three wins. Manager Ned Yost said his team is battling and he doesn't fault the players' effort, it's just a matter of getting in a groove and rolling with it.

Problem is, you can't do that in Toronto, where the Jays tend to find its own groove at the plate.

In eight of the last nine years, the Blue Jays have finished in MLB's top seven for hitting home runs in their own park. Last year was the lone season they did not. They know this has always been an advantage, and this year they need to get back on track inside Rogers Centre.

The Royals bring a 4.48 ERA to Toronto, and even worse, that number swells to 4.89 on the road. Kansas City has also given up the 10th most home runs (86) on the highway.

Tonight will be trouble, as the Jays look to tee off. Lay the Run Line.

Cracks me up how many people have forgotten how good the Boston Bruins were at the end of the season, and are actually leaning toward the Toronto Maple Leafs coming back in this series.

The Bruins are clearly the better playing team, and have a chance to serve the dagger in a very important game - much like we saw the Vegas Golden Knights do last night in Los Angeles.

After dominating the first two games of this series, outscoring the Maple Leafs 12-4, you're going to see Boston playing with a ton of confidence, from David Krejci, to Patrice Bergeron, to Torey Krug, to Zdeno Chara, to Tuukka Rask.

To put in perspective how strong the first two games were for Boston, it was 1-2-1 vs. Toronto in the regular season, when the Maple Leafs outscored the Bruins by a 12-10 margin. Again, Boston has outscored the Leafs, 12-4.

The Bruins are fired up, and want nothing more than to sweep this series and move on. They know the important game is tonight, and they can't afford to let the Leafs gain any momentum in Game 3. It would behoove Boston to let Game 4 go by the wayside, if that's the case, and win Game 5 in Beantown. But the Bruins can't lose tonight.

The Bruins enter tonight’s game with an all-time record of 24-7 in best-of-7 series when they have led a series 2-0. They have a 20-10 record in Game 3s when leading a series 2-0.

Take Boston tonight, as it treats this like a do-or-die.

About the only thing positive I can see for the New Jersey Devils this Monday night is the fact they will get to play this game versus the Tampa Bay Lightning on their home ice.

Tampa has lit the lamp 10 times in the first 2 games played, and they hold a 2-0 series lead as they lace up the skates for this Monday night contest on Devils ice.

New Jersey is shell-shocked right now, and coach John Hynes may turn towards netminder Corey Schneider in favor of regular keeper Keith Kinkaid who has not been able to keep Tampa Bay off the scoreboard thus far.

The bottom line is the Lightning are the # 1 seed in the Eastern Conference for a reason, and this team does have the playoff pedigree to not rest on their laurels here as they look to put this series in a vice-grip tonight.

With the postseason carrying on into the month of June, it is critical that teams end their series' as soon as possible, and then get a few days of rest.

Perfect spot tonight to lay a little road juice and back the Lightning to take the commanding 3-0 series lead.

This Tampa Bay-New Jersey series is far from over, and yet so close to getting away from the Devils.

If the Lightning win in New Jersey tonight, the series is over. But if the Devils can knock off Tampa Bay, this 1-8 matchup becomes intriguing.

Top-seeded Tampa Bay lost all three meetings with No. 8 New Jersey, which does match up well with the Lightning.

The Devils can challenge Tampa Bay netminder Andrei Vasilevskiy with Hart Trophy-candidate Taylor Hall and star rookie Nico Hischier, who opened the scoring for the Devils in Game 2, 13:38 into the second period.

The question mark is in goal. Will it be Keith Kincaid or Cory Schneider?

Kinkaid started in net in Game 2, but was pulled at 13:12 of the second period. During his time in net, Kinkaid stopped 10 out of 15 shots. Schneider relieved Kinkaid, for his first playoff action since the 2013 playoffs, when he played for the Vancouver Canucks. Schneider stopped all 10 shots that he faced.

Only once in history have the Devils won a series when falling behind 2-0. That was in 1994 against the Boston Bruins. New Jersey switched goalies that season. Will the Devils do it again? After Schneider played well in the third period of Game 2, he could get the nod, shaking things up.

No matter what coach John Hines decides, the one thing they need to remember and feed off of is they were undefeated against Tampa Bay in the regular season.
