3-Unit Play. #914. Take LA Dodgers -165 over Arizona (Saturday @ 9:10pm est)
The Dodgers finally got their bats going yesterday albeit it was a loss to the Diamondbacks but they finally showed some promise getting double-digits in hits as they put up 7 runs in a losing contest. But, that was a positive sign in the most important way as they have their ace on the mound here in Rich Hill. It is a bit scary to go against the Dbacks at this point but note that Walker does have nearly a 5 era against the Dodgers and Hill to his credit is pitching for a tema that is 4-8 an desperately needs a win. Hill had a 3.32 era last year, 2.25 era the year before and 1.83 and 1.55 era prior to that. This is a pitcher who gave up 3 runs and 5 hits in 4 innings in his last start but don't hold that start against him. After all, he had just pitched against San Fran and beat them in a complete game shutout so it is very difficult for a pitcher to beat a team in back to back starts like that. Let's roll with the Dodgers to get it done in what could be a somehwat close game but we have LA winning 5-3 today.
3-Unit Play. #505. Take Miami Heat +6.5 over Philadelphia 76ers (Saturday @ 8:05pm est)
At the end of the day, the Miami Heat have been here for before the Philadelphia 76ers have not. So, what you have here is a Heat team that has the mind of Pat Riley and Erik Spo' who has been to the Playoffs his last 8 of 10 years which speaks volumes. The Heat played fantastic basketball against the Raptors to win that game in overtime which was a morale boost for this squad. The Sixers at the end of the day, will win this series which is a feel good story across the board for a franchise that was down in the dumps and that accumulated draft pick for ages. It's a great story for Philadelphia and the NBA frankly. Having said that, there is no Embiid this game which means the inside will be open for Whiteside and the other slashers for Miami. The Heat defense is as good as any when it wants to be so look for a great defensive effort here from Miami and Philadelphia to have a let down after a 130 points in their last game as well. Look for a surprisingly competiitve game that will be tight most of the way with an outside shot at Miami winning outright.
7 Unit Play. Take #928 Seattle -105 over Oakland (9:10p.m., Saturday April 14)
Last night at Safeco Field we had the Mariners at home against Oakland and cashed are 5-Straight baseball winner as the M's scored 5 runs in the 7th to get the victory. Seattle last night racked up 11 hits and after giving up 2 runs in the 1st inning the Marniers pitching staff calm down and only gave up 2 runs after the first. Oakland last night had to use 6 relief pitchers and tonight if the Mariners can hit the scoreboard early I see the Mariners going 2-0 over the weekend series. Marco Gonzalez takes the mound tonight for the Mariners and his last start was horrendous only going 2.1-inning pitch and the Mariners lost 10-0 to the Kansas City Royals. Oakland will have Kendall Graveman on the mound and he is also struggling to start the season going 0-2, 1.88 WHIP, and 9.45 ERA and his last start he lost to the Angels 6-1 and he didn't even see the 4th inning. With the A's continuing to get smacked around tonight I see the Mariners bats continue to hit A's pitching and I see a high scoring game with the Mariners winning. Oakland is 1-4 against AL West teams and the A's are 8-22 when Gravemans starts on the road. The Mariners are 4-1 in their last 5 games and the Mariners are 9-1 in their last 10 meetings.
4 Unit Play. Take Oklahoma City Thunder -130 Series Price over Utah (First RD NBA Playoffs)
Yes I know the Utah Jazz are won of the hottest teams in the 2nd half of the NBA season but this in the NBA Playoffs and playoff ball is different then the regular season. Everybody is going to be focus on Westbrook and Paul George but the sleeper in this series for the OKC Thunder is going to be Steven Adams. OKC beat Utah 3 out 4 times they met this year and I see the OKC Thunder winning this series in 6 games. Too much Mr. Triple-Double Westbrook for the Jazz to handle in this series and he will carry the OKC to the next round and we hit this only series price play.
NBA BASKETBALL
4 Unit Play. Take #508 Portland -5 over New Orleans (10:35p.m., Saturday April 14 ESPN)
This Western Conference Round 1 series between the Portland Trailblazers and New Orleans Pelicans should be very interesting and wouldn't shock me to see either team advance. For Game #1 in the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon I believe home court will hold and I see the Blazers backcourt being the big difference. These two teams split their 4 meetings this year and both teams won on the road in this series but tonight I see Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum being too much for the Pelicans. New Orleans is 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games against Northwest division teams and the Blazers are 20-6-1 ATS in their last 27 home games. The favorite in this series is 10-3 ATS and the home team in this series is 9-4 ATS.
