The Red Sox simply cannot be stopped at the moment and their hitters are quite simply in a league of their own to start the year. Boston is averaging 6.35 runs per game to start the new seasonand have already scored 19 runs in the opening two games of this series. Nick Tropeano has been tasked with trying to slow this lineup when takes to the mound but hasn’t quite made Angel Stadium his own as yet, going 3-3 with a 4.71 ERA in his 11 career appearances at the venue. What’s been equally impressive for Boston has been the form of their starting pitchers to match, but something has to give in this one. The Angels are due a break out game with the bats and we’d be surprised if Eduardo Rodriguez is able to keep a lid on them in this one. He was hit around for seven runs in just over 2 innings at the mound in his only other appearance here and while we don’t expect him to give up quite so much he doesn’t have a great record throwing against Kole Calhoun and Albert Pujols. The Red Sox did all the lifting in sending the two games thus far Over the total and we feel we’re getting far too much value on this number given LA’s potential for runs – especially if Shohei Ohtani gets given the all clear to swing the bat!
