Play on: Astros -143 at BMaker

      Dave’s Tuesday Free Play:
      1* on Houston Astros -143
The Key: Charlie Morton has backed up his incredible 2017 season by being unhittable thus far in 2018. Morton is 3-0 with a 0.72 ERA and 0.88 WHIP in 4 starts this season with 33 strikeouts in 25 innings. He has never lost to the Angels, going 3-0 with a 3.14 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 5 lifetime starts against them with his teams going 5-0 in those games. Shohei Ohtani keeps grabbing headlines, but it was for the wrong reason in his last start. He was forced to exit after giving up 3 earned runs in 2 innings of a 10-1 loss to the Red Sox due to a blister on April 17th. I can’t imagine he can be 100% recovered just a week later. The Astros are 25-7 in their last 32 home games. Take Houston.

        NBA | Spurs vs Warriors
Play on: Warriors -10½ -113 at pinnacle

Give the Spurs credit for rallying to avoid the sweep. However, don't forget that this series is still over. While the Spurs have been very tough at home all season, they've been terrible on the road. The Warriors won the two games here by 21 and 15 points, respectively. Expect the champs to 'smell blood in the water' on Tuesday, closing things out in convincing fashion. Consider laying the points.

            MLB | Diamondbacks vs Phillies
Play on: Diamondbacks -101 at BMaker

I'm far from convinced new Phillies manager Gabe Kapler knows what he's doing. Some of his moves have resembed Gabe Kaplan more than Connie Mack. Still, the Phillies have been riding some surprising early season solid pitching to win nine of their last 11 games on their way to 14-7 record. However, the Phillies are trumped by the Diamondbacks, who have the second-best record in baseball at 15-6. The Diamondbacks are better than the Phillies, losers of 96 games last year, and have the superior starter in a pitching matchup of Robbie Ray versus Vince Velasquez. Ray is on the cusp of being an elite pitcher. He's been at his best, too, pitching on the road. Arizona is 14-3 during his past 17 away starts. Ray is 9-1 in those starts with a 2.03 ERA and 134 strikeouts in 97 2/3 innings. His 13.3 K/9 rate this season was tied for the best mark in baseball entering this week. Arizona is 19-7 in Ray's last 26 overall starts. Velasquez has a 2.41 ERA during his last three starts. That's a rare consistent stretch for Velasquez, who has a high ceiling but rarely has shown any sustained progress. His ERA during his two years with the Phillies are 5.12 and 4.12. It's 3.80 so far this season. Philadelphia has lost in 20 of Velasquez's last 28 starts. Despite their excellent early season records, neither the Diamondbacks nor Phillies have high batting averages, or a lot of home runs. The difference is the Diamondbacks have reliable veteran stars such as Paul Goldschmidt and A.J. Pollock while the Phillies have unproven young talent. Ray has held batters to a .118 batting average with runners in scoring position. Opponents are batting .292 versus Velasquez with runners in scoring position. The Diamondbacks have dominated the Phillies in Philadelphia, too. They've won the past seven times at Citizens Bank Park with the average victory margin during this span being by 3.2 runs.
(Editor's note: Stephen Nover is on a 69 percent winning tear on his last 13 premium baseball plays and has won his last four NBA plays. Stephen has two NBA plays going today, including his Game of the Week, plus a Top Ticket MLB play in addition to this free selection.)

              Play on: OVER 204½ -102

Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach NBA Game #707 Tuesday Free Pick OVER the total in Golden State Warriors vs San Antonio Spurs @ 10:35 ET - The Spurs staved off elimination in Game 4 but, in doing so, they are likely to bring out the best in the Warriors here in Game 5. That will mean plenty of offense on Tuesday night. Golden State is 13-6 to the over this season when off of an upset loss as a favorite. Also, in recent seasons, the Warriors are 20-9 to the over when leading in a playoff series. As for the Spurs, they are 7-1 to the over when trailing in a playoff series. Golden State will push the pace and the Spurs will be forced to play quicker than they'd like to. The result should be this game flying over the total as the Warriors don't want to go back to San Antonio and they'll keep the pedal to the metal all the way through this one! Free Pick OVER the total in Golden State

The Spurs showed some resolve with their 103-90 victory in Game 4 to stave off elimination. They have been competitive with the Warriors in every game but Game 1. They just lost it down the stretch in Games 2 and 3, but were able to close the deal in Game 4. Now they are catching 11.5 points in Game 5 and I think it’s a few too many as this game will likely be decided by single-digits. The Warriors are 3-12 ATS in their last 15 games when playing on one days’ rest. Golden State is 4-12 ATS in its last 16 vs. a team with a winning record. Give me the Spurs.

                  Play on: UNDER 7½ -112

Tuesday MLB Free. My selection is on the 'under' between Arizona and Philadelphia at 7:05 pm et on Tuesday.
I'll back the 'under' in this matchup, even in the face of D'Backs starter Robbie Ray's somewhat surprising early season struggles.
Ray doesn't have the best career numbers against the Phillies but he has actually pitched well against them in two of his four previous outings. Ray is coming off arguably his best start of the young season, allowing just two earned runs on five hits while striking out nine last time out.
Vince Velasquez has quietly strung together three straight quality outings after getting rocked in his season debut in Atlanta. Over that stretch, Velasquez has posted a 20:3 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 18 2/3 innings of work. He tossed five shutout innings in his lone previous outing against the D'Backs back in 2016.
While it's tough to go 'under' the total in a bandbox like Citizens Bank Park I'm willing to make an exception here. Take the under (8*).

Play on: Angels +133 at BMaker

10* FREE MLB PICK (Angels +133)
I'll gladly take my chances here with the Angels at this price. LA has won 2 of 3 since dropping 4 straight, including last night's 2-0 win in the series opener against Houston. In that victory the Angels defeated one of the hottest starters in the game in Gerrit Cole. That's going to give them all kinds of confidence going into Game 2 with Shohei Ohtani on the mound. Ohtani didn't have his best stuff in his last start and had to leave early with a blister. He's had a full 6 days off since that start to let the blisters heal and I expect him to return to the form that saw him allow just 3 runs on 4 hits with 18 strikeouts in 13 innings over his first 2 starts. Houston will send out Charlie Morton, who is off to an impressive start, but he has faced 3 teams who are currently at least 6-games under .500. This should be a lot closer to a pick'em and there's simply too much value to pass up on LA. Give me the Angels +133!

DMack's Free Play for Tuesday, April 24, 2018 is on the Mets/Cards Under
These are two pretty good teams with pretty good pitching and it wouldn't be a surprise to see them both still playing in October. Zack Wheeler is rocking a 2.77 ERA in two starts that both went under the total. The under is 3-1 in Luke Weaver's four starts and the Red Bird righty with the big fastball beat the Mets 5-1 at Citi Field the first week of the season. Runs will be tough to come by here and we'll be under the total.

***NBA GAME OF THE WEEK GOES TUESDAY***
The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Philadelphia Phillies will open a three-game set at Citizens Bank Park Tuesday night. I think this game looks primed to go over the low total.
Robbie Ray (2-0, 4.98 ERA) will take the ball for the D'Backs. The left-hander owns a 4.56 ERA in four career outings versus Philadelphia and the four Phillies with previous experience of Ray is batting a combined .324 over 34 at bats. Over is 6-2 in Rays last eight starts overall.
Philly turns to Vince Velasquez (1-2, 3.80 ERA). In three career appearances against Arizona, Velasquez has not allowed an earned run in 8 2/3 innings but that's likely to change tonight. He allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk over six innings and took the loss Wednesday to Atlanta. Over is 4-1 in Velasquez's last five starts overall.
The D'Backs are averaging 4.52 rpg on the season while Philadelphia averages 5.05 overall and 6.20 rpg in the City of Brotherly Love.
Free pick on ARI @ PHI to go OVER the total.

                          Play on: UNDER 205 -110

This is a 1* Free Play on the UNDER between the Spurs/Warriors.
After their emotional Game 4 victory which staved off the 4-0 elimination sweep, it’s not too hard to imagine the undermanned Spurs suffering a classic letdown here in Game 5. Certainly San Antonio won’t want to turn this one into a “track meet” with Golden State. The Warriors have had to make adjustments of their own in this series, with a heavy emphasis on its big men with star guard Stephen Curry sidelined with injury until at least the next round. Fatigue is a factor at this point of the series as well. Also note that SA has seen the total go UNDER the number in 14 of 25 already this season following a win by ten points or more, while Golden State has seen the total go UNDER in seven of its last ten in trying to revenge a loss against an opponent. The situation and the numbers both point to the UNDER as the correct call in this one.
