Pick: Frank Mir vs. Fedor Emelianenko Under 1.5 rounds -145 for 3 units
Fedor comes into this fight with a 36-5 record and riding a 1 fight losing streak. Fedor is now 41 years old and is coming in off a 1st round KO loss at the hands of Matt Mitrione. Prior to that loss, Fedor had gone on a 5 fight win streak. Fedor’s career has been either referred to as the greatest heavyweight of all time or the heavyweight with the most embellished record of all time. Many people close to the world of MMA believe that his career has been protected by giving him opponents that he can dominate. He is on the backside of his career and well past his prime.
Fedor will be taking on former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir. Mir has not fought since 2016 due to his suspension due to testing positive for a banned substance and his termination from the UFC. He will now make his Bellator debut and is no longer being tested by USADA. Mir looks really lean in his photos online leading up to this fight and it appears that he is really taking this fight serious. He admitted that he will be a little nervous heading in sine he hasn’t been in the cage in quite some time and due to the fact that he will be making his Bellator debut. Mir is coming in off back to back losses to Mark Hunt and Andrei Arlovski.
Mir is going to be very motivated to get a quick finish in this fight. Fedor just doesn’t have the gas tank to go far in the fight. Take both of those ingredients and add them together and you get a fight that is going to end in the first round. The oddsmakers have made the over/under number at 1.5 rounds here. I don’t see anyway that this fight doesn’t end in the first round. Neither of these guys are looking to go deep into this fight and I expect it to end under 1.5 rounds.
