Chad Kuhl will get the nod at the mound for the home side and he’s coming off another quality start against the Giants. The team has gone 3-1 in his last four appearances and while he has been hit long eight times in his last five games he should have a better grasp of slowing down the Padres offence. Meanwhile, Eric Lauer is having a much tougher time at the mound this season with opponents batting at .365 against him on the year. There’s no doubt that the home side will find ways to score against Lauer in this one, and if they can give Kuhl some assurance early then this one should be pretty straightforward. Our projections have Pittsburgh winning 79% of the time which makes the $1.60 on offer way above price.

Chicago Cubs @ Atlanta Braves
Jon Lester has had a pretty fun time pitching against the Braves over the years and he’ll look to put forth another strong outing against them as the Cubs look to take the series. The veteran has allow two or less runs in five of his eight starts this year and his 2.66 ERA is pretty much where we expected it to be. In his nine outings against Atlanta, he’s gone 6-2 with a 2.47 ERA to match. A similar effort here will go a long way to containing the Braves once more, and when you factor in Chicago’s bullpen, which is one of the best in the majors, there’s a lot to like about this team total on the Braves. The Cubs have allowed teams to score over this total just twice in their last 10 overall – and just once in their last six on the road. Our data has Atlanta finishing with 2.7 runs and feel we’re getting great value on a very favourable total.
