Punter 2018 MLB 77-85
Here’s our best bets for the action ahead:
Colorado Rockies @ San Francisco Giants
The Giants will look to avoid a sweep in their series with the Rockies and the price on San Fran is simply too good to ignore. Jon Gray and Chris Stratton are coming into this one hoping to turn things around, with both men giving up a handful of runs in their last start. Gray has been better on the road this season, but is 0-1 in his three starts against the Giants. Meanwhile, the home side will be hoping Stratton can return to his early season form that saw him start the year 2-1 with a 2.32 ERA after four starts. While the Rockies are certainly rolling at the moment our projections gave them less than a 15% chance at sweeping this series, making the odds on San Francisco an absolute steal as a result. Expect the Giants hitters to be a little more in tune in dealing with Gray which should put us in a strong position in the early innings of this one.
Tip: San Francisco Giants @ $1.98 (Crownbet) (0.5 units)
Cleveland Indians @ Houston Astros
Dallas Keuchel is starting to find his groove at the mound once more this year after a nightmare start to the season. His last two starts have seen him allow just one run in 15 innings pitched against Texas and Oakland respectively. The left-hander will look to keep that form going against a team he has dominated in the past. Keuchel is 4-0 with a 2.21 ERA in six career appearances against the Indians and it’s tough to see them breaking out against the 30-year-old in this one. Houston are allowing just 2.54 runs per game against them this season, while the Indians offence is averaging just 3.81 runs per game on the road this year. Game 1 of this series was just an anomaly and we expect another low scoring affair in this one. Our data has Cleveland scoring just 2.1 runs in this one so we’re more than happy to take this total on offer.
BLANK-CHECKER is on the Cubs at Kyle Hendricks on the hill at Cincinnati against Luis Castillo. Chicago is -135 at 10:35 Saturday morning here in Miami where I'm based.
2 Units - #956 Washington (-1.5, +100) over LA Dodgers 5/19 *8 EST
Max Scherzer at home with this number over a team who has dropped 8 out of their last 10 and recently got swept by Cincy at home? OK. The Nats have had rain issues all week in their games, last nights game was postponed, they are itching to play. No brainer to me, although slightly chalky I am more than happy to fade Rich Hill for LA who starts, with a 8.59 ERA his last 3 starts. Scherzer with below a 2 ERA backed by a better bullpen in this one, and if LA goes to the bukllpen early, I like Washingtons chances big time, which is what I think happens, and bear in mind the bullpen of Washington has a 2.02 ERA their last 5 games, behind a stud pitcher here.
