This pick falls into one of my top MLB systems and I have this game flying over the posted total given this pitching match-up Sunday. Biagini has an ERA of 7.98 this season and a WHIP of 1.84 with opponents hitting .317 against him over his 3 starts. Biagini has had big time control issues with 7 walks over his 3 starts (14.2 innings) this season and the Jays should have never tried to make him a starter. Mengden has struggled on the road this season with an ERA of 5.40 and opponents hitting .344 against him over his 3 road starts (13.1 innings) so you can expect the Jays bats to come alive as they look to avoid a rare 4-game sweep at home. The Jays bullpen has been shaky as they blew a 4-0 lead in the 8th inning yesterday and you can expect a short start from Biagini who had lasted just 4.9 innings per start this season. The Athletics bullpen has struggled on the road this season with an ERA of 4.53 and Mengden has only lasted 4.4 innings per start on the road this season. Connecticut might just destroy Las Vegas today. it's not so much that Las Vegas is an expansion team, after all this is simply the Silver Stars that have moved to Las Vegas but it is because that Connecticut now has their star player back that they missed half the year for last year. This is a Connecticut team that is ready to start the year 1-0 and has big aspirations given the talent and depth that they have. They were one of the most prolific offenses in the league last year at home and can simply shoot the lights out and given that Vegas is without 2 of their 3 key stars who are playing overseas they simply cannot shoot the ball well right now. This team is attempting very few 3 pointers as Coach Bill Lambeer noted because they just don't have the talent and depth at shooting now and most of their field goals are within 2 point field goal range. Connecticut has snipers and sharp shooters from across the board and we like Connecticut to get it done here from start to finish today in an absolute blowout.

We decided to go with this play instead of the Phillies/Cardinals game from the video, we do the video earlier and make the final cut after the video. But for what it's worth we do lean on the Phillies. Having said that, we like Minnesota today as well and that is our premium pick. The Brewers won 3 in a row and 5 of 6 and go for Sweep today and you would have to think that Minnesota comes out with a lot of motivation behind Jake who has lost 3 straight. Note, Jake great all year long but he just hasn't picked up the wins due to the Twins offense not coming through. Note, that Jake gave up just 4 hits and 0 runs in his last game against Seattle and he ended up getting a no-decision on a 0-1 loss to the Mariners. He gave up 1 run to the Cards in 5 innings and has put together 3 of 4 quality starts. Junior Guerra has given up 10 walks and 3 home runs over his last 3 starts, and though the Brewers have the better offense we think the edge the Twins have with the better pitcher and not wanting to get swept as well as the Brewers 1-4 in Guerra's last 5 starts when on 5 days rest as well as the Twins being 11-4 in their last 15 inter-league games sets up well for them today.

San Diego Padres @ Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pirates will look to split their four-game series at home to the Padres when they send Trevor Williams to the mound. The right-hander is coming off a stellar showing in his last start where he held the White Sox scoreless over seven innings. In fact, he’s given up two or fewer runs in seven of his nine starts this season and is 3-1 with a 2.22 ERA at home this year. The Pirates hitters will also look to get back to their best form against a pitcher that hasn’t enjoyed going up against the Pittsburgh line up in the past. Jordan Lyles is 0-5 with a 7.82 ERA in his career against the Pirates, although he is coming off arguably the best outing of his career. After struggling in their last two starts our data shows Pittsburgh once again racking up the runs here, with the odds of San Diego winning this four-game series sitting at just 18% before it started. We love the value on the home team in this one and will happily side with Williams on the mound as well.
