DANIEL STRAILY (R) vs. TYSON ROSS (R)
Straily the Marlins starter, has allowed just three ERs in his L/18 innings of work extending over three starts AND has held opposing hitters to a .204 batting average this season while yielding just 10 extra-base hits (including five homers) in 26 innings . Straily faced the Padres twice last season and had a 2.77 ERA despite not getting a decision in either outing. He held San Diego to four runs in 13 innings, allowing 10 hits and three walks with 19 strikeouts. Meanwhile, the Pdres starter Ross worked to get into the rotation with an impressive Spring Training. He’ has turned into the ace for the Padres’ staff ever since. Ross has pitched at least six innings in nine of his 10 starts, including Wednesday vs the Nationals in Washington. when he struck out nine and overall owns a stingy 1.93 ERA in his last three trips to the hill . He goes against a struggling Miami offense that has averaged just 3.3 rpg vs RHP this season. Key Trend: Tyson Ross is 0-7 UNDER past the first game of a series when he had at least nine strike outs last start with none of the combined scores eclipsing 7 runs. Everything points to these two quality throwers going and long and strong for this tilt to stay on the low side of the Total.

Take Under the Total in the game between the Minnesota Twins and the Kansas City Royals listen both starting pitchers Kyle Gibson and Danny Duffy. Minnesota (22-27) won the opening game of this series yesterday by an 8-5 score. The Under is then 5-2-1 in the Twins’ last games after scoring at least five runs in their last game. Minnesota has also still played 5 of their last 6 games Under the Total in the road. Kansas City (18-36) has played 4 straight Unders after a loss. Additionally, the Royals have played 8 of their last 11 home games Under the Total against teams with a losing record. Take Under the Total listen both starting pitchers. Best of luck — Frank.

              MLB | Marlins vs Padres
Play on: Marlins +142 at BMaker

The Padres can't be this strong of a favorite against any team especially when facing an opponent's top pitcher. That's the case here.
Dan Straily is back healthy. The Marlins are 5-0 in his five starts this season. Straily has given up two or fewer runs in each of his last four starts. Opposing hitters are batting just .204 against him. The Padres rank 29th in runs and 28th in batting average. They have been held to three or fewer runs in six of their last seven games and are 6-14 during their past 20 games at Petco Park when facing a righthanded starter. San Diego is minus its best hitter, injured Wil Myers. The Padres lack any kind of punch without him. Also on the DL is Frenchy Cordero, who was supplying some needed power and speed. Tyson Ross has been a pleasant surprise for the Padres providing a nice comeback story. But he's not better than Straily and certainly doesn't deserve to be rated as such a high favorite. The Marlins hold the Padres' number, too, having beaten them six times in a row. (Editor's note: Stephen Nover is heating up on the ball diamond winning 64 percent of his premium and free plays during the last seven days. Stephen has one of his strongest cards of the season going today headed by his National League Game of the Month.)

The Padres are 7-3 in games that Tyson Ross starts this season, including 3-0 in his three starts at Petco Park. Ross is 4-3 with a 3.28 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in those 10 starts while striking out 64 in 60 1/3 innings. He is also 1-1 with a 2.84 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in two previous starts against the Marlins. Miami is 13-28 in its last 41 road games. The Marlins are 3-13 int heir last 16 after scoring five runs or more in their previous game. The Padres are 8-1 in Ross’ last nine starts on five days of rest. Give me the Padres.

I'll take my chances here with Minnesota as a short road favorite against the Royals on Tuesday. The Twins won the series opener 8-5 on Memorial Day, snapping a 4-game skid. The 8 runs Minnesota put up yesterday was more than their previous 4 games combined (6). Danny Duffy will take the mound for the Royals. He's coming off a great start at Texas, but I simply don't trust him to keep it going. Duffy is still just 2-6 with a 6.14 ERA in 11 starts and owns an awful 6.98 ERA and 1.707 WHIP in 4 home starts. On the flip side of this, Minnesota will send out Kyle Gibson, who has pitched better of late and owns a strong 2.61 ERA and 0.903 WHIP in 5 road starts. Gibson is also 12-3 in his last 15 road starts vs a team that averages or more strikeouts/game and 9-1 in his last 10 road starts vs a team that walks 3 or fewer times per game. Give me the Twins -125!

The St. Louis Cardinals took an 8-3 beating in the opener of this three-game series with NL Central rivals Milwaukee Brewers on Monday, but I think the Cards will bounce back tonight with Michael Wacha on the mound.
Wacha (5-1, 2.88 ERA) held the Royals to two runs (one earned) with six Ks through 6 2/3 innings last time out and has limited opponents to two runs or less over his last seven starts, posting a 1.94 ERA during that stretch. Wacha is 4-0 with a 4.60 ERA against the Brewers who counter with Zach Davies.
Davies (2-4, 4.74 ERA) surrendered seven runs (six earned) on eight hits over 5 2/3 innings against the Cardinals back in April and will make just his second start since spending nearly a month on the disabled list with a rotator cuff injury. Davies was tagged with four runs over four innings of work and took the loss last week against the Mets.
Brewers are 2-8 in Davies' last 10 home starts vs. a team with a winning record. Cardinals are 7-2 in Wachas last 9 starts.
Free pick on St. Louis Cardinals.
