4-Unit Play: Take 928 Angels -130 over Blue Jays (9:05 p.m., Saturday, June 23)
I'm backing the Angels on Saturday night with Barria over Stroman. The Los Angeles Angels beat the Blue Jays for the fourth straight time this season with a 2-1 win on Friday night and scoring both runs in the first inning. Toronto fell to 14-21 on the road and has lost three of its last four overall while the Angels have won three in a row and are 7-1 their last eight home games. The Blue Jays have lost 10 of their last 11 road contests and Marcus Stroman has been about as bad as it gets with an 0-5 record and 7.71 ERA. Toronto has lost Stroman's last four starts and he was the losing pitcher in each one before he went on the disabled list with a shoulder injury in May. The Angels have won eight of their last nine home games versus right-handed starters and nine of their last 12 against teams with losing records. I'm backing the Angels on Saturday night. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.
3-Unit Play: Take 916 Twins -130 over Rangers (2:10 p.m., Saturday, June 23)
I'm backing the Twins on Saturday with Odorizzi over Gallardo. Texas has won six in a row, but three of those wins were against the hapless Royals and now the Rangers have Yovani Gallardo making his second start after being acquired from Cincinnati. Gallardo was pummeled in his first outing for Texas allowing five runs on six hits in five innings although the Rangers eventually won the game by a 13-12 score. In three appearances with the Reds this season, Gallardo gave up eight runs on eight hits in only 2 1/3 innings. Jake Odorizzi has a 2.28 ERA in five day games this year and although he's been shaky lately, he has had success against Texas hitters, who have a combined .197 batting average against him. Despite their winning streak, the Rangers are still destined to finish last in the AL West and Odorizzi is the clear value choice over Gallardo. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.
