I like the value here with the OVER in Wednesday's MLB action that has the White Sox hosting the Cardinals in interleague play.
These two teams combined for 16 runs on Tuesday with the Cardinals doing the heavy lifting with 14 runs. St Louis has now scored 8 or more runs in 4 of their last 6 games. They are averaging 6.9 runs/game and hitting .303 as a team over their last 7.
I look for the Cardinals offense to stay hot against White Sox starter Carlos Rodon, who is just 1-3 with a 4.29 ERA in 6 starts.
There's also a good chance Chicago has a better day at the plate after scoring just 2 runs on Tuesday. St Louis will send out Luke Weaver, who has been a major disappointment. Weaver is just 5-7 with a 5.10 ERA and 1.361 WHIP in 18 starts. Weaver did pitch well in his last outing, but hasn't allowed 2 or fewer runs in consecutive starts since early May.
OVER is 15-5-1 in the Cardinals last 21 interleague road games and 6-0 in Weaver's last 6 road starts. OVER is also 12-2 in the White Sox last 14 off a loss, 5-0 in their last 5 at home vs a team with a winning record and 21-8-2 in their last 31 interleague home games vs a right-handed starter. The Orioles have clearly gotten up mentally to face the Yankees in this series despite having a brutal season to this point. They have taken two of the first three games and certainly will be motivated to win the series with a victory in Game 4 Wednesday.
I like the value we are getting with the Orioles considering they actually have the advantage on the mound. Dylan Bundy has been a bright spot for the Orioles this season, going 6-8 with a 4.08 ERA and 1.268 WHIP in 17 starts with 110 K’s in 99 1/3 innings.
The Sonny Gray trade is looking like a disaster for the Yankees. He is 5-7 with a 5.85 ERA and 1.571 WHIP in 17 starts this season, including 0-3 with a 12.27 ERA and 2.182 WHIP in his last three starts. Gray is also 4-4 with a 4.64 ERA and 1.336 WHIP in eight career starts against Baltimore.
Gray is 7-15 (-10.1 units) in all road games over the last two seasons. The Yankees are 1-4 in Gray’s last five starts. Bet the Orioles Wednesday.
