Streaking and Slumping Starting Pitchers
Streaking: Danny Duffy, Kansas City Royals (6-8, 4.40 ERA, $-124)
In an unexpected twist, today's Streaking Starting Pitcher is Danny Duffy of the Royals. As a whole it's been a very mediocre season for Duffy (and an awful season for the Royals) but over his last three starts he is 2-0 with and ERA of 0.45 and a WHIP of 1.15. Not too shabby.
Duffy will look to keep it rolling this afternoon in a winnable assignment as a -120 favorite against Matthew Boyd and the Detroit Tigers.
Slumping: Tanner Roark, Washington Nationals (3-12, 4.87, $-1263)
2018 has been a very forgetable season for Tanner Roark. He's never been a top-end starting pitcher, but a team win/loss record of 5-15 is an awful statistic to have as a part of your rotation for a team that was supposed to easily win their division. Some might even say that Roark's awful season is the main reason the Nats are in the uncomfortable postion they are in right now.
Over his last three starts Roark is 0-3 with an ERA of 9.56, a WHIP of 2.19, and owns an opponent's on-base percentage of .451.
The Nationals are hoping Roark can get things turned around for his start this afternoon as a +115 underdog in Milwaukee against Freddy Peralta and the Brewers.
