    MLB | PHI vs BOS
    Play on: UNDER 9 -110

Take Under the Total in the game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Boston Red Sox listing both starting pitchers Aaron Nola and David Price. Philadelphia (58-47) comes off a 4-0 loss in Cincinnati yesterday. The Under is then 34-15-4 in the Phillies’ last 53 games after a loss. The Under is also 9-4-1 in Philadelphia’s last 14 games on the road. Boston (74-33) has won three in a row with their 3-0 win over Minnesota yesterday. The Red Sox have played 5 of their last 7 games Under the Total after a win. Boston has also played 5 of their last 6 home games Under the Total. Take the Under. Best of luck — Frank.

      Play on: UNDER 8½ +110

Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach MLB Game #918 Monday Free Pick UNDER the total in Arizona Diamondbacks vs Texas Rangers @ 9:40 ET - The Rangers Martin Perez has poor full season numbers but he has been rock solid in 2 of his 3 starts since he returned. In those two solid July outings Perez has allowed only 2 earned runs in 13 innings. Also, the Diamondbacks are not familar with him. This is typical in interleague match-ups and tends to lead to more unders as the hitters lack of familiarity with pitchers from the opposite league tends to be an issue. Arizona has not faced Perez in many years and the same holds true for the Texas bats having not seen Robbie Ray in a number of years. Although Ray's numbers at home this season have been unusually poor, he enters this start having pitched well in two of his last three match-ups. Also, those were against tough teams in tough venues - Cubs in Wrigley and Rockies at Coors. Ray has struck out 81 in his 60 and 2/3 innings as a starter this season. The Rangers lineup is known for poor at-bats and being free swingers and I expect the strikeouts to really pile up in this one for Ray. Per the above, you can see why I am expecting both teams to struggle at the plate. Also, only 2 of the Diamondbacks 8 games in interleague action this season have resulted in an over. The under is 16-9 in Texas' games with a posted total of 8 or 8.5 runs this season. Free Pick UNDER the total in Arizona

            MLB | Giants vs Padres
Play on: Giants -104 at betonline

My free play is on the SF Giants at 10:10 ET. Buster Posey had four hits and three RBI in an 8-5 home victory over Milwaukee on Sunday, a victory which snapped San Francisco's four-game slide. However, the Giants are just 3-8 in their last 11 games to fall 6 1/2 games off the pace in the NL West with a third of the season to go. San Francisco also has two other teams standing between them and the division-leading Los Angeles Dodgers (LA has won the division in each of the last five seasons), the second-place D'backs and the third-place Rockies. The Giants open a two-game series against the Padres on Monday night in San Diego and no NL team is going worse than the Padres at the moment. The Padres have now lost five straight games after having just been swept at home by the Diamondbacks, plus they are just 2-12 in their last 14 games and 8-26 since June 15 to fall to 42-66 on the season (the NL's worst mark, which leaves them 18 games back of LA).
A pair of lefties will head to the mound tonight, Derek Holland (5-8, 3.92 ERA) for the Giants and Eric Lauer (5-7, 5.29 ERA) for the Padres. Holland has made 23 appearances in 2018, including 19 starts. He will be making his second straight start after coming out of the bullpen in his previous two outings. Holland has allowed two ERs on eight hits over 12 1/3 innings in his last two starts (7/25 & 7/10), striking out 12 and walking one but San Francisco has lost both games. It's not good news for the Giants that Holland will make his fourth career start against the Padres and that he is 1-1 with a 7.04 ERA against them. More bad news comes in the fact that two of the three previous starts have come this season and he's allowed six ERs in 9 2/3 innings for a 5.59 ERA.
Eric Lauer came within one out of tossing a complete game in a win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 10 but he's stumbled through two starts since that outstanding effort. The Chicago Cubs got to him for five runs in two innings prior to the All-Star break (7/15) and Lauer gave up six runs in four innings against the Mets in New York last Tuesday. The rookie has allowed four ERs four runs over 11 innings in a pair of no-decisions versus San Francisco this year (Padres are 0-2).
Holland is hardly someone a person can be fully confident of but as noted at the top, the Padres are slumping badly with a 2-12 record in their last 14 games and 8-26 since June 15. As for the rookie Lauer, the Padres are 5-12 in his first 17 starts of the season. He not only owns a 5.00-plus ERA but an ugly 1.70 WHIP, with opponents batting .311 against him on the season. Considering that the Padres are just 18-33 at Petco Park this year and 1-16 in the first game of their 17 series there, the Giants are the play.
            Good luck...Larry

Play on: Braves -159 at 5Dimes

1 Unit FREE PLAY on Atlanta Braves -159
The Atlanta Braves have lost four of their last five and need this home series against the Marlins to get back on track after falling out of first place in the NL East. Fortunately for them, they are up against Wei-Yin Chen, who has been terrible on the road this season. Chen is 1-5 with a 10.47 ERA and 2.02 WHIP in eight road starts this year. He has allowed 38 earned runs in 32 2/3 innings away from home. Julio Teheran is the better starter in this matchup. He is 3-2 with a 4.13 ERA in 10 home starts this year. The Marlins are 2-7 in Chen’s last nine road starts. The Braves are 8-3 in Teheran’s last 11 home starts. Give me the Braves.

                MLB | Astros vs Mariners
Play on: Astros -106 at betonline

This is a Free play on the Houston Astros.
Houston is coming off four straight losses, and they suffered their first sweep of the season at home versus Texas. This is still the best team in baseball, and I like their chances of getting back on track here in Seattle.
Gerrit Cole will toe the slab for Houston, and he's been dealing all season long. Cole (10-2, 2.54 ERA) allowed a pair of runs on five hits, striking out nine over 6 1/3 innings in a win at Colorado his last time out. He's 6-1 with a 2.56 ERA in 11 appearances on the road this season.
The Mariners hand the ball to James Paxton, who is returning from a back injury. The Big Maple had surrendered seven runs on 10 hits over 7 2/3 innings in back to back losses before taking a few weeks off to rest his sore back. The Mariners might be a little careful with their ace here, and it wouldn't be surprising if he was pulled early.
Seattle ranks dead last in the major leagues in scoring since the All Star break.
                Take HOU.

                  MLB | Brewers vs Dodgers
Play on: Brewers +156 at 5Dimes

The National League can't compare to the American League when it comes to superpowers. The AL has them with the Red Sox, Yankees, Astros and Indians. When it comes to the NL's monsters they are the Dodgers, Cubs and Brewers. So any time one of these three teams happens to be a heavy underdog, I have to look in that direction. This isn't a play against Dodgers starter Kenta Maeda. I usually won't go against Maeda at Dodgers Stadium, where he sports a 2.74 ERA. But there's just too much value to overlook Milwaukee at this plus price. The Brewers have the most victories in the NL and now they're even better with the additions of Mike Moustakas and Joakim Soria. The Brewers are in a good ambush spot here and they have an intriguing rookie pitcher going, Freddy Peralta. Milwaukee catches the Dodgers returning home from a 10-game road trip that concluded in Atlanta on Sunday. The Brewers have been on the West Coast since Thursday. It's the Dodgers who will be making the three-hour time difference. None of this will matter, though, if Peralta pitches as poorly as he did in his last start when he surrendered seven earned runs in six innings at home against the Nationals this past Wednesday. Peralta can be extremely good. He has 57 strikeouts in 43 1/3 innings. Right-handed batters are hitting only .071 against him. The Dodgers have six righties in their usual lineup. LA also has never faced Peralta giving him a surprise element.

I'll take my chances here with the UNDER in Monday's AL West late night action that has the Mariners hosting the Astros. Two really good starters will take the mound in this one, as James Paxton is set to start for Seattle, while Gerrit Cole toes the rubber for Houston. Paxton is 8-4 with a 3.62 ERA and 1.081 WHIP in 20 starts. This is also a great time to face the Astros, who are with out two of their best hitters in Altuve and Correa. Cole is 10-2 with a 2.54 ERA and 0.980 WHIP in 21 starts and is 6-1 with a 2.56 ERA in 11 road outings. He's 2-0 with a 0.56 ERA in 2 career starts against the Mariners, including an outing back in April of this season where he gave up just 1 run in 7 2/3 innings. Give me the UNDER 7!

Play on: Giants -102 at GTBets

DMack's Free Play for Monday, July 30, 2018 is on the San Francisco Giants (Holland Listed)
This is a battle of N.L. West train wrecks with the Giants losers of 6 of 8 and the Padres losers of five straight and a mind-boggling 1-15 in their L16 home series openers. Derek Holland has been a bit unlucky at 0-1 with a 2.78 ERA in his L4 starts. He's given up two earned runs on 8 hits in his L12 2/3 innings and the Gints have gave him zero and two runs of support. Eric Lauer (16.50) was pummeled by the Cubs and Mets in his last two outings and the Friars are 5-12 in his 17 starts. Pick your poison but the Giants might be worth a flyer but probably don't merit premium play status.
DMack is 14-6 in his L20 MLB releases and has a Monday night "Dog Bite" locked and loaded for Monday.

My money is on Boston to cash in a win at home against the Phillies. The Red Sox just took the final 3 games of a 4-game series at home against the Twins over the weekend, while the Phillies lost the final 3 games of their 4-game series at Cincinnati. Boston is a ridiculous 37-14 at home this season, where they are outscoring teams by nearly 2 runs/game (5.8 - 3.9). As good as Aaron Nola has been for the Phillies, I look for him to struggle here on the road against this lineup. Boston will send out David Price and they have won 11 of his last 13 starts, including each of his last 5 starts at home. Bet the Red Sox -140!
