    MLB | Mariners vs A's
Play on: Mariners +117 at 5Dimes

Jack’s Free Pick Wednesday: Seattle Mariners +117
The Seattle Mariners will be highly motivated for a victory Wednesday night. They have lost the first two games of this series to the Oakland A’s by a single run each. They can’t afford to keep losing to the A’s, who are ahead of them in the wild card race right now.
I expect Mike Leake to come in and get the job done tonight. He is 5-2 with a 3.90 ERA in 11 road starts this season, and the Mariners are 8-3 in those games. Leake is also 1-1 with a 3.13 ERA in five career starts against Oakland, and his teams have gone 4-1 in those games.
Brett Anderson is clearly the worse starter in this matchup. He is 2-3 with a 4.53 ERA and 1.406 WHIP in 10 starts this season, including 0-1 with a 6.30 ERA and 1.600 WHIP in two home starts. He should not be favored over Leake and the Mariners in this one.
The Mariners are 7-2 in Leake’s last nine road starts. Seattle is 8-2 in Leake’s last 10 starts when working on 4 days’ rest. The A’s are 1-6 in Anderson’s last seven starts on 4 days’ rest. The Mariners are 14-6 in the last 20 meetings, and 19-8 in the last 27 meetings in Oakland. Bet the Mariners Wednesday.

      MLB | Indians vs Reds
      Play on: Indians -1½ +100 at 5Dimes

      Dave’s Wednesday Free Play:
      1* on Cleveland Indians -1.5 (+100)
The Key: The Cleveland Indians have won 4 straight games all by 2 runs or more, including the first 2 games of this series to the Reds by 7 runs apiece. They should have no problem winning by multiple runs again tonight thanks to their edge on the mound. Shane Bieber has done his best work on the road this year as he’s 2-0 with a 3.52 ERA in 5 road starts. He is also 1-0 with a 2.41 ERA in his last 3 outings. Robert Stephenson will be making just his 2nd start of the season. He is 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA and 2.00 WHIP after yielding 3 earned runs and 8 base runners in 4 innings of an 8-0 loss to the Mets on August 8th. The Indians are 34-10 off 2 straight wins by 4 runs or more over the last 3 seasons. They are coming back to win by 2.2 RPG on average. The Indians are 74-26 in their last 100 games vs. a team with a losing record. The Reds are 1-7 in Stephenson’s last 8 starts vs. a team with a winning record. Cincinnati is 1-9 in its last 10 games vs. a right-handed starter. Take Cleveland on the Run Line.

        MLB | Indians vs Reds
        Play on: Indians -1½ -110 at 5Dimes

The Cleveland Indians just keep finding ways to win. They've now won four straight games and nine of 11. The Indians have owned the Reds in the first two games of the series, outscoring them 18-4 and 37-8 after dropping the first two games of the season series. Rookie pitcher Shane Bieber will get the start Wednesday and he's been solid all year going 6-2 with a 4.24 ERA. The Indians bats will give Stephenson a tough time and Bieber will get tons of run support in what looks to be another blowout. Take the Indians to continue their winning ways.

MLB | Red Sox vs Phillies
Play on: Phillies +120 at MyBookie

          Phillies
The Boston Red Sox lead the majors in runs scored among a bevy of other offensive categories, but the team hasn't crossed the plate much this season against the Philadelphia Phillies. Runs could be at a premium once again on Wednesday as the sizzling Red Sox (86-35) vie for a sweep of their abbreviated two-game series versus the Phillies (65-53) at Citizens Bank Park.
PITCHING MATCHUP: Red Sox RH Nathan Eovaldi (5-4, 3.74 ERA) vs. Phillies RH Vince Velasquez (8-9, 3.98)
Eovaldi answered two scoreless starts by allowing eight runs for the second time in five outings on Friday in a no-decision against Baltimore. The 28-year-old, who permitted a season-high 10 hits in 2 2/3 innings versus the Orioles, was blitzed for eight runs at Minnesota on July 13 while pitching with Tampa Bay. Asdrubal Cabrera is 2-for-14 with five strikeouts against Eovaldi, who sports a 3-4 mark with a 3.51 ERA in nine career starts versus Philadelphia.
Velasquez suffered his first loss since June 25 last Wednesday after yielding four runs in as many innings of a 6-0 setback at Arizona. The run total was the largest for the 26-year-old since June 19, when he permitted four on two homers in 6 1/3 frames of a no-decision against St. Louis. Velasquez won his lone career start versus Boston while pitching for Houston during his rookie season in 2015, allowing three runs and striking out seven in six innings.
Phillies are 4-1 in Velasquezs last 5 starts with 6 days of rest.

MLB | Red Sox vs Phillies
Play on: Phillies +122 at YouWager

My free play is on the Phil Phillies at 7:05 ET. The Boston Red Sox won again last night, as a pinch-hit, go-ahead homer in the eighth inning led to a 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. It was Boston's fifth straight win and 11th in 12 outings to open August. The Red Sox are currently on pace to win 115 games and sit 10 games of the Yankees in the AL East. Meanwhile, the Phillies have mustered just nine runs en route to losing four of their last five games, dropping them two games behind National League East-leading Atlanta. Philadelphia currently owns the second NL's wild card spot and the Phillies sit just one game behind Milwaukee. However, the wild card field is crowded, as the Cards are just one game back of the Phillies, with the Rockies 1 1/2 games back and the Dodgers 2 1/2 games back.
Nathan Eovaldi (5-4, 3.74 ERA) began the 2018 season with the Rays but was traded to the Red Sox before the July 31 deadline. He began his Boston career with consecutive scoreless starts but allowed eight runs (just four earned) in just 2 2/3 innings in Friday's 19-12 win against Baltimore (Eovaldi had a no decisions). Eovaldi takes the mound with a 3-4 mark with a 3.51 ERA in nine career starts versus Philadelphia. Vince Velasquez (8-9, 3.98 ERA) comes off 6-0 loss at Arizona in his last outing (four runs in four innings). The Phillies are an unimpressive 9-13 in Velasquez's starts in 2018. He has faced the Red Sox just once in his four-year big-league career, as a member of the Houston Astros back in 2015. In that contest, he gave up three runs and struck out seven batters in six innings in an 8-3 win.
The Philadelphia offense has struggled in the last week, as the team has scored just 16 runs in its last seven games (2.3 runs per game), going 2-5 in that stretch. However, while Boston's easily owns MLB's best record and the Red Sox lead the majors in runs scored (among a bevy of other offensive categories), they have scored just five runs in taking two of three from the Phillies in 2018. I'm not sold even a little on Eovaldi plus will note that previous to Velasquez's most recent start, he had allowed only five ERs over 32 1/3 innings of his prior six starts (1.39 ERA). Boston can't win them all. Take the Phillies.
            Good luck...Larry
