3-Unit Play. #975. Take Pittsburgh Pirates -120 over Minnesota (Tuesday @ 8:10pm est)
We roll with the Pirates today as we like the Pirates who come off a 3-4 loss. This is a team that took 2 of 3 from the Rockies and 2 of 3 from the Giants, both playoff caliber teams who are trying to get in so that is not easy to do. This is a squad that is 8th in batting average in the league and is not out of the playoff picture yet and with Taillon pitching who has put together 6 straight quality starts including a complete game at Coors Field in his last game with just 2 runs given up and has helped his team win 4 out of his last 5, we like the pitching matchup here with Taillon and we trust the Pirates offense a bit more here versus the Twins and we also like that Pittsburgh is off a loss yesterday which bodes well for a decent Pirate win.
3-Unit Play. #965. Take Seattle Mariners -125 over Oakland A's (Tuesday @ 10:05pm est)
Mariners lost last game 6-7 and they will start their ace today. This is a Mariners team that nearly won yesterday's game and they didn't even have a pitching edge and still nearly won but they clearly have a pitching edge today with Paxton who is becoming sharp since the return of his injury. This Mariners team just swept the Astros in a very important series both mathematically and morale wise and we like Seattle with their ace, on the bounce-back today to get back on track and get it done.
3-Unit Play. #980. Take San Diego Padres -104 over LA Angels (Tuesday @ 10:10pm est)
The Padres haev a starter in Brett Kennedy who we are very high on. Kennedy gave up 6 runs in 4 innings at Milwaukee but he now pitches at home, on a bounce-back with a Padres offense that is performing well. This is a fantastic public fade, the Angels are out of the playoff picture and the Padres according to our models are playing at a high level of late. This is a team that lost 3-6 last game, took 2 of 3 from Philly who is the NL East Leader or top 2 in the NL East given the day and took 2 of 3 from Milwaukee and was 2 runs away from sweeping the Cubs even though they took 1 of 3 games but lost the other 2 by just 1 run. This team is playing very hard right now, have a young pitcher who will make a great home debut and we like the Pads to get back on track today.
3-Unit Play. #958. Take LA Dodgers -1.5 (+110) over San Francisco Giants (Tuesday @ 10:10pm est)
You think the Dodgers can still afford to keep losing? At some point they need to bounce-back and they likely get back on track in a big way today against Suarez whose arm is frankly giving away in the 2nd half of the season and teams are starting to figure him out. Suarez has given up 33 hits in his last 21 innings and 5 walks in those starts, so basically 38 baserunners in 21 innings which is why he has struggled of late. Look for that to continue against a Padres team that is coming off a loss and who is playing very good baseball right now.
