7-Unit Play. Take #605. Seattle +2.5 vs Phoenix (Sunday @ 5:00p.m. est).
Let's make it a 12-1 Playoff Run Today. Make that 9 Winners in a Row in Baseball. Let's look to make it 10 in a row today with a 7*Selection (2;15pm) If you give a team that's facing elimination a lifeline, chances are they will take it. That's exactly what Phoenix did last game, blowing out Seattle by 20 points to extend their season. Unfortunately, that'll be for one more game as we expect Seattle to come out pissed off and ready to dominate from start to finish. Look, this is a Seattle team that is ranked first or second in all major offensive categories. They stunk it up last time out by posting just 66 points - that will not happen again. Seattle will be focused and ready to go in this one because they do not want to take the series back home for a Game 5, win or go home style game. Seattle has been the best team in the league throughout, so when the going gets tough the team usually rises up and dominates. Look, Phoenix had a good run and Taurasi will go down as an all-time great, but not even she can single handily carry this Mercury team to a spot in the final at the expense of the Storm. The Storm are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a SU loss and 12-3 in their last 15 following an ATS loss. The Storm are the better team and it'll come to the forefront tonight.
4-Unit Play: Take 911 Rockies -135 over Padres (4:10 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 2)
I'm backing the Rockies on Sunday with Freeman over Nix. Colorado improved to 39-32 on the road with its 4-2 win over the Padres on Saturday and the Rockies have won 16 of Kyle Freeland's last 21 starts. Freeland is 12-7 with a 2.90 ERA and the Rockies have won his last five starts and he hasn't allowed more than two runs in any of them. The left-hander faced the Padres on Aug. 23 and allowed two runs in 6 1/3 innings in a 4-3 win. San Diego has lost five home games in a row versus left-handed starters and 35 of its last 51 games overall against southpaw starters. The Padres are 27-44 at home and have lost 46 of their last 68 overall against NL West teams. Rookie Jacob Nix goes for the Padres and he has had two good outings sandwiched around too bad ones, including a start against Colorado when he gave up three runs on five hits in five innings in a 6-2 loss. I'm backing the Rockies on Sunday. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.
