3-Unit Play: Take 965 Rays -130 over Jays (7:05 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 5)
We're backing the Tampa Bay Rays with Glasnow over Sanchez. Tampa Bay has gotten over its road woes and won four in a row following Tuesday's 4-0 win over Toronto for the Rays' seventh win in the last eight meetings. The Blue Jays have lost seven of their last nine games and going nowhere and they have Aaron Sanchez going tonight and he has been pummeled since coming off the disabled list allowing 11 runs on 18 hits in 8 1/3 innings in two starts against the Phillies and Marlins although his offense bailed him out and Toronto won both games. That won't happen in this matchup as Tyler Glasnow has pitched well for the Rays since being acquired from the Pirates with a 3.23 ERA and he had his longest outing at Cleveland when he gave up just a run on two hits in seven innings on Friday. Tampa Bay has won 19 of its last 26 overall and six in a row against AL East teams. I'm backing the Rays on Wednesday. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.
2-Unit Play: Take 951 Cardinals +115 over Nats (7:05 p.m., Wed, Sept. 5)
We're playing the Cardinals on Wednesday with Mikolas over Roark. Miles Mikolas was supposed to start on Tuesday, but the Cardinals decided to give him another day of rest and they still powered their way to an 11-8 win over the Nationals featuring five homers, including two by Marcell Ozuna. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for St. Louis, which still is in the second wild card spot while Washington fell eight games behind. Mikolas is 13-4 with a 2.96 ERA and lost his last start 2-0 to Pittsburgh although he allowed only two runs in five innings. The Cardinals had won his previous six starts overall and five of his last six road starts and he has yet to lose a decision on the road. Tanner Roark is just 4-7 with a 4.88 ERA at home and in one appearance against St. Louis he gave up four runs (three earned) on five hits in six innings. The Cardinals have won 13 of their last 16 road games and 10 of their last 12 versus right-handed starters. I'm backing the Cardinals on Wednesday. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.Comment
