Buono the Lions coach is a well respected long time icon in the cfl, but recently he seems unable to motivate his teams against side with some negative numbers attached to their stat lines , especially in the defensive secondary. Montreal must be outed as one of these teams, which sets up some ugly looking CFL ATS trends that go against Buono and the Lions tonight. They are as follows:
BRITISH COLUMBIA is 3-11 ATS versus awful passing defenses - allowing a comp. pct. of 64% or worse over the last 2 seasons.
Buono is 6-16 ATS versus awful passing teams averaging 6.9 or less passing yards/att - after 9 or more games in all games he has coached since 1996.
It must also be noted that Montreal has started to play better after two straight wins and are gaining confidence entering this fray and must not be underestimated as home pups.
CFL road favorites (BRITISH COLUMBIA) - after playing a game at home, in September games are a long term bad bet going just 32-65 ATS for a go against 67% conversion rate for bettors.

The Braves have reeled off five straight victories coming in and can taste the division title that is basically inevitable at this point coming their way. The Nationals don’t stand a chance to win the division and just lost yesterday to the Cubs, meaning the Braves have the advantage of rest after having yesterday off. Kevin Gausman has been great since joining the Braves at the end of July, going 4-2 with a 2.32 ERA during that span. The Braves are 5-1 in his last six starts. Gausman is 2-0 with a 1.89 ERA in his last three starts against the Nationals as well. The Braves are 11-2 in their last 13 games vs. a starter with a WHIP of less than 1.15. I think they can get to Max Scherzer here. Give me the Braves.

The Brewers trail the Cubs by 1.5 games heading into this series with Pittsburgh. It’s a huge series for them as they clearly have a lot more to play for than the Pirates do at this point. I’ll back them at home here in Game 1 tonight.
Gio Gonzalez is 1-1 with a 3.57 ERA and 1.132 WHIP in his last three starts. His transition to the Brewers in this trade has been a smooth one. Gonzalez is 4-2 with a 3.79 ERA in 10 career starts against Pittsburgh, and his teams are 7-3 in those games.
The Pirates’ trade for Chris Archer hasn’t gone nearly as smoothly. Archer went 1-2 with a 6.45 ERA in his first five starts with the Pirates. And Archer gave up 6 earned runs and 9 base runners in 4 innings of a 4-7 loss to the Brewers back on August 26th in his lone start against them this season.
The Pirates are 6-20 in their last 26 road games vs. a left-handed starter. Pittsburgh is 1-4 in Archer’s last five starts. The Brewers are 5-1 in their last six games overall. Milwaukee is 43-21 in its last 64 home games. The Brewers are 72-28 in their last 10 home meetings with the Pirates. Bet the Brewers Friday.

Gonzalez great in his first start with the Brewers, allowing just 3 hits and 7 strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings. I look for him to stay hot against the Pirates, while the Milwaukee offense has their way with Chris Archer, who gave up 6 runs on 7 hits in a recent start against these Brewers back on Aug. 26. Pirates are also just 1-4 in Archer's last 5 road starts and 1-4 in his last 5 vs a team with a winning record. Give me the Brewers -133!
