He is 5-1 with a 3.71 ERA in 10 starts this season, and the Cardinals are 8-2 in those 10 starts. Gio Gonzalez is 3-7 with a 4.73 ERA and 1.42 WHIP in 15 road starts for the Brewers this season. Gonzalez gave up 5 runs in 4 innings to the Cardinals on August 14th in his only start against them this season. Gonzalez is 0-9 in road games vs. an NL team with an OBP of .325 or worse this season. I'll take my chances here with St Louis at basically a pick'em at home against the Brewers. The Cardinals lost the opener 6-4 on Monday, but are still 6-2 over their last 8 games and this is just too good a price to pass up on St Louis at home. Milwaukee is getting way to much love here with Gio Gonzalez on the mound. Gonzalez has an impressive 1.65 ERA and 0.918 WHIP in his last 3 starts, but all 3 of those starts came at home. Gonzalez is a mere 3-7 with a 4.73 ERA and 1.422 WHIP in 15 road starts this season (4-11 team record). The Cardinals are 9-3 in their last 12 home games against a left-handed starter and 17-7 in their last 24 off a loss. St Louis will send out Austin Gomber and they have won 8 of his first 10 big league starts and are 4-1 in his last 5 against a team with a winning record. Give me the Cardinals -107!

We took the Angles/Rangers UNDER 9 on Monday and got an unfortunate push with Texas scoring a run in the top of the 9th to tie it up at 4-4. LA ended up winning 5-4 in 11 innings.
A lot of people are going to be quick to take the OVER on Tuesday, as this doesn't look like a great pitching matchup, but these are two offenses that aren't swinging the bat well. While the two teams combined for 9 runs on Monday, there were just 14 total hits in the game. Texas is hitting just .203 as a team over their last 7 and the Angels are even worse with a .180 average over their last 7.
UNDER is 25-10-3 in the Rangers' last 38 road games against a team with a losing record and 6-2 in their last 8 off a loss. UNDER is also 33-16-3 in the Angels' last 52 games off a win and 8-1 in the last 9 meetings between these two teams in LA. Take the UNDER!

They did win the series opener last n night, but it came in extra innings. They are still just 1-5 in their last 6 and 3-9 in their last 12. Angels starter Matt Shoemaker is also not in great form. He's got a 8.02 ERA and 1.621 WHIP in his last 3 starts. LA is also not producing at the plate right now. The Angels are only averaging 3.9 runs/game and hitting a mere .180 as a team over their last 7 games. Bet the Rangers +146!

The Oakland A’s clinched a playoff spot already. However, they can still catch the Yankees for the top wild card spot, which would mean home-field advantage for the wild card game. Look for them to keep it rolling here tonight against a Mariners team that has already been eliminated.
Brett Anderson has performed well for the A’s this season. He is 4-5 with a 3.96 ERA and 1.227 WHIP in 15 starts. Anderson certainly enjoys facing the Mariners, going 8-4 with a 1.76 ERA and 1.096 WHIP In 17 career starts against them. He has allowed just 2 earned runs in 14 innings in his two starts against the Mariners in 2018.
Mike Leake is 10-10 with a 4.10 ERA and 1.259 WHIP in 30 starts for the Mariners this season. Leake gave up 5 earned runs in 6 1/3 innings in his last start against the Astros. And he allowed 6 earned runs in 4 1/3 innings in his last start against A’s back on August 31st.

Oakland won the opener of this series last night to remain a game and a half behind the Yankees for the first Wild Card spot in the American League. The top spot gets to host the Wild Card game next Wednesday so it is a big deal considering both Oakland and New York have been better at home than on the road. Still, Oakland is 14 games over .500 on the highway which is the fourth best road record in all of baseball. The A's are 28-10 in their last 38 games when their opponent allows five runs or more in their previous game. It was a good season for Seattle but it was eliminated from playoff contention last week and has nothing to get motivated for. The Mariners have lost three straight games at home going back to the previous homestand and they are just seven games over .500 on the season at Safeco Field. Going back, the Mariners are 1-5 in their last six home games against teams with a winning road record. Brett Anderson has been solid since his return to the rotation in July as he has a 3.02 ERA in 11 starts and while he has struggled in his last two road starts, this is one of his favorite parks as he has a 1.20 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in eight starts and one relief appearance. The A's are 6-2 in his last eight starts after scoring five runs or more in their previous game. Mike Leake counters for the Mariners and while he has been solid at home, this is not a good spot. Streaking and Slumping Starting Pitchers

Streaking: Trevor Bauer, Cleveland Indians (12-6, 2.21 ERA, $-107)

Trevor Bauer is just trying to get ready for a potentially deep playoff run after working only 1.1 innings in his last start - his first since suffering a stress fracture in his right fibula back in early August. Despite not working much, Bauer still qualifies as our Streaking Starting Pitcher based on numbers in his most recent outings. Over his last five assignments he is 4-0 with an ERA of 1.00 and a WHIP of 0.8519.

Bauer and the Indians are big -200 favorites on the road in Chicago against the White Sox.

Slumping: Vince Velasquez, Philadelphia Phillies (9-11, 4.59 ERA, $-563)

Vince Velasquez has certainly struggled in his last four starts with a personal win/loss record of 0-2, an ERA of 9.64, and a WHIP of 1.7857. Also, the Over has cashed in six of his last seven starts.

Velasquez gets the ball today as a +135 underdog at Coors Field against Chad Bettis and the Rockies.


Monster Wind

The wind will be blowing out to left field tonight at 14-15 miles per hour at Fenway Park where the Red Sox are scheduled to take on the visiting Orioles. There is also rain in the forecast, so we'll have to wait and see what happenes with that.

If they are able to get this one in tonight you have to immediately like the Over 9 with Baltimore sending Jimmy Yacabonis to the mound. His only career start against these Red Sox was 4.2 innings of work where he allowed three runs, including two home runs.

The Red Sox bats could potentially cover this number on their own, but David Price did allow six runs over 5.1 innings in his last start - perhaps the O's can contribute to the cause.

Under Estabrook

Mike Estabrook will be calling balls and strikes this evening in Toronto where the Blue Jays will be hosting the Houston Astros. Estabrook is the No. 6 Under umpire in Major League Baseball this season at 19-9, and if you go back even further than this season the Under is 36-14-2 in his last 52 games overall (72 percent). The most eye-popping trend involving this matchup, however, is that the Under is 17-2-2 (89.47 percent) in his last 21 games involving the Toronto Blue Jays.

Josh James has been very good for the Astros with an ERA of 2.81, a WHIP of 1.00, and an opponent's on-base percentage of only .250 in 16 innings of work this season.
