For Tuesday, Raise The Bar 1500♦ is the Milwaukee Brewers with Gonzalez over St. Louis with Gomber. At 8:30 am eastern, the Brewers are +105 in Vegas and offshore. Note: Both listed pitchers must start, or there is no action on this release.


Big win for the Brewers last night, as they took the series opener as they have now won their last pair, and 4 of their last 5 overall. They have also now captured 9 of their last 13 games played in the Gateway City entering this Tuesday night showdown.


The Cards are still holding onto that 2nd Wild Card spot, and last night only marked the 2nd loss over their last 8 games.


My feeling tonight is the edge on the mound rests with the experienced Gio Gonzalez who has been in playoff atmosphere before. Cards starter Austin Gomber is 6-1 for the year, but has had some problems on the mound this month, as his ERA is over 7 for his last 3 trips to the hill.


Gonzalez has been a boon to the Brew-Crew since being rescued from the Nationals, as the veteran southpaw is 2-0 with a 1.65 ERA in his 3 starts on his new club.


Should be another tense affair tonight at Busch, but I am siding with the Brewers to handle their business against the youngster Gomber.

Decent back to back winners in Baseball but yesterday was a no action b/c the pitchers were changed (even though the Rockies rolled Eflin 10-1). We roll with the Cubs here as we like Chicago as they come off a tough loss in their last game losing 1-5. The Cubs are hit are miss frankly with their offense of late but we think they will be more hit today than miss. We like the Cubs to bounce-back today as they get up for Archer here who won his first game for the Pirates recently since coming over from the Rays as he has over a 4 era since coming over from Tampa Bay. Archer finally had a decent outing against the Royals in his last start and picked up a win against a team that knows well. Prior to that he had given up 7 runs in 11 innings and 5 walks. Essentially before that start he had given up 16 baserunners in 11 innings including a homerun in each of his last 3 games. As he comes off a decent start we think he has a let down here against the Cubs who will get up to face him and we like Montgomery who is 2-0 with a 2.63 era agains the Pirates and who has really come on strong for the Cubs. Montgomery has given up just 10 hits in his last 3 starts and has been sharp as he continues to go through his progressions well. We like Chicago to bounce-back, Archer to have a let down and Montgomery to keep pitch well.
