For Friday, Raise the Bar 1500♦ is BYU over Utah State. At 8:00 am eastern, the Cougars are -2 1/2 points in Vegas and offshore. I advise buying the half-point down on BYU if your line should move between -3 to -4 1/2 points.


Update: At 3:15 pm eastern time, BYU is down to -1. No need to buy the half-point.


Things didn't go as planned for BYU last week as they were run over in Seattle, 35-7 by the stingy Washington Huskies defense. Part of that lopsided loss was due to Washington being the superior team, but part of it was also likely due to the fact the Cougars may have been thinking a little bit about a payback for a 16-point loss at Logan to the Aggies last season.


Utah State has had the extra-week to prepare, and they are off to a 3-1 start, winning each of their last 3 games handily. They have scored an average of 51 points per game coming into this affair in Provo! Surely, Mark Wells' team has a lot of check marks in their favor on the balance sheet in terms of lining up against their in-state rivals tonight.


A quick look back on last year's meeting shows BYU leading 21-7 on the road, but the Cougars were guilty of a whopping 6 turnovers as the game ballooned to that 40-24 final tally.


Utah State is just 1-18 straight up at BYU, and while that win did come in 2014, 1-18 is not a mark I am interested in backing getting such a small number.


My feeling is Kalani Sitake's team is not as bad as they looked last weekend, and the Aggies "juggernaut" offense is not going to go ballistic this evening versus the revenging Cougars who will hold on to the pigskin tonight and get back on track with a win.
