Vancouver Canucks (13) @ Tampa Bay Lightning (14)
Thursday 10/11 4:35 PM Eastern
UNDER 6 (+100) at Bovada - risk 1.5 units to return 3 units
Tampa Bay has played only one game and it was a 2-1 shootout win over Florida on Saturday when Andrei Vasilevskiy had 42 saves for the Lightning. Vasilevskiy had a 2.62 goals-against average in 2017-18 and a .919 save percentage and he tied for the league-lead with 42 wins. Also, Vasilevskiy allowed only four goals on 62 shots against Vancouver last season. The Canucks have lost two in a row and playing their third straight road game. Jacob Markstrom made 28 saves in a losing cause at Carolina on Tuesday. The UNDER is 4-0-2 in the Lightning's last six games dating to last season and 9-3 UNDER in Vancouver's last 12 road games. Also, the UNDER is 6-2-1 in Tampa Bay's last nine games when it's playing on at least three days rest. Vancouver has gone UNDER eight of its last 11 after allowing at least five goals its previous game going back to last season. Back the UNDER.
Los Angeles Kings (17) @ Montreal Canadiens (18)
Thursday 10/11 4:35 PM Eastern
Montreal -115 (moneyline) at 5dimes - risk 2 units to return 3.74 units (highest rated play)
Los Angeles has a struggling offense at #22 in goals scored, #25 on the power play, and is 3,000 miles from home. It's the second road game of a four-game trek, off a 2-1 loss at Winnipeg. The Kings power play is 0-for-10 on the season. The Kings are on a 1-7 skid going back to last season, as well as 4-9 after allowing two or fewer goals in their previous game. They face a new-look Montreal Canadiens squad that is playing well behind rookie Jesperi Kotkaniemi, selected with the #3 pick in the draft. This is their home opener and they've used strong forechecking, causing turnovers to create scoring opportunities. They come off a 5-1 win at Pittsburgh as a +210 dog and Montreal is 8-2 against a team with a winning percentage below .400. Canadiens goalie Carey Price is 6-2-0 against Los Angeles and the Kings are 3-7 in the last 10 meetings in Montreal. Take
Winnipeg Jets (19) @ Nashville Predators (20)
Thursday 10/11 5:05 PM Eastern
Nashville -125 (moneyline) at 5dimes - risk 1 unit to return 1.8 units
This is a tough situational spot for Winnipeg, in its third road game in four contests. The offense is #18 in goals scored and the Jets are 2-7 on the road against a team with a home winning percentage of less than .400. They have also lost five of six against winning teams. Nashville has excellent star power and great balance, in a bounce-back spot after a sloppy performance at home the last game against Calgary. The Predators are on a 48-23 run at home, and 61-28 against the Western Conference, plus 35-17 when playing on one day of rest. Nashville is also 24-10 after a loss and 18-6 ATS after allowing three goals in two or more straight games. Play Nashville.
N.Y. Giants at home over the Philadelphia Eagles. At 7:00 am eastern, the Giants are +3 points. I am instructing you to buy the half-point up on New York if your line is anywhere from +2 1/2 to +4 points.
