7-Unit Play. Take #14 Minnesota (-140)over Arizona (8 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 16.)
Arizona continues to struggle offensively and have now been shutout in 3 of their first 4 games. The club has produced a total of 2 goals over their last 5 NHL contests leading back into last season. Minnesota is coming off its second straight loss but they were against two of the better teams (Nashville and Carolina) in the NHL. The Wild know they need to improve and have always played better at home than on the road. This is a great game for them to bounce back and get a well needed win. I think there 1-2-1-1overall record improves tonight against a struggling Arizona squad. Look for Dubnyk to play at a high level and bring his GAA down tonight. Minnesota has beaten the Coyotes 4 of the last 6 times. Take the Wild at home tonight.
4-Unit Play. Take #7 Carolina (+150 ) overTampa Bay (7:35 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 16.)
Prior to the Hurricanes 3-1 loss to the Jets Sunday night the club was on a tear winning 4 straight. Carolina was averaging over 5 goals per game and looked to be one of the best offenses in the league. Tampa Bay is coming off their second win of the season winning 8-2 over Columbus but haven't looked great prior to that game. In the Lightning's first 2 games the club struggled on offense and only scored 2 regulation goals. Carolina has bested the Lightning 3 straight times and I don't see why they don't surprise again tonight. The Hurricanes are 6-1 in their last 7 games playing on 1 day of rest and 4-1 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game. Take Carolina tonight in Tampa Bay.

My baseball totals system is a combination of relevant statistical data, history involving similar games, and current market data. A play is made when enough of these factors align. The size of the play is determined by a combination of how many of these factors align, how much value is perceived, and how confident I am about the play.
