The Nets are feisty and spunky. They also are underrated on the road where they have covered 67 percent of their last 55 away matchups. The Pelicans are 3-0 and leading the NBA in scoring. They also are No. 1 in field goal percentage at 51.7 percent. The Pelicans, though, have been playing below average defense and their shooting percentage is unsustainable. Brooklyn just got back two of its best defensive players, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Shabazz Napier. They were sharp in helping the Nets defeat the Cavaliers, 102-86, on the road this past Wednesday. It's easy for New Orleans to overlook Brooklyn especially with a much bigger home game on tap Saturday when it hosts Utah. The Pelicans aren't as good as their unbeaten record shows and they are in a letdown and look-ahead spot. The Nets can hang here just like they usually do on the road. The total sinking from 49 to 46 has mostly to do with Wyoming's outstanding defense and pathetic offense. The Cowboys hold opposing foes to 9.2 PPG below their normal scoring averaging. They are also next to last in scoring in college football at 15.5 PPG. I'm of the opinion the opening total was incorrect and the adjustment is accurate, which evaporated the value. I'll still take the UNDER with Wyoming 10-2 UNDER against conference opponents and Colorado State 7-0 UNDER after a playing a game where 70 total points or more were scored.

I'll take my chances here with Utah as a bid road favorite Friday night. Even off back-to-back wins, I’m not ready to buy into UCLA all the sudden being a different team than the one that started out 0-5. There two wins came against arguably the two worst teams in the league outside of Oregon State in Cal and Arizona. I know they laid it on the Golden Bears 37-7, but they only outgained Cal by 38 yards. The Golden Bears really beat themselves with 5 turnovers. As for the win over Arizona, the Wildcats were without Khalil Tate and yet they outgained UCLA by 60 yards.
One of the big reasons that the Bruins have started to play better is the play of junior running back Joshua Kelley, who after getting just 11 carries in the first 3 games, has rushed for 120+ in each of the last 4 games. Extending that streak against Utah seems unlikely, as the Utes lead the country in run defense, giving up 74.6 ypg. If they can take away the ground game for UCLA, I think it’s going to be really tough for the Bruins to keep this one competitive.
The defense for the Bruins simply isn’t that great and this Utah offense is clicking on all cylinders right now. The Utes have score 40+ points in each of their last 3 games and two of those came against good defensive teams in Stanford and USC. Utah has rushed for at least 200 yards in each of their last 4 games and will be up against a UCLA defense that ranks 100th against the run, allowing 192.7 ypg.
Unlike the last two games, where the Bruins have gone +7 in the turnover department, they don’t figure to win the turnover battle against Utah. Not only are the Utes less likely to turn it over with how much success they figure to have on the ground, but the only have 3 turnovers in their last 4 games combined. I think this one gets ugly and could be over by the half. Give me Utah -10.5!
