            Preview: Hornets at Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers own the worst record in the NBA as they prepare to host the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday. Cleveland has dropped five consecutive games, the latest being a 99-98 setback against the Chicago Bulls on Saturday.

Rookie point guard Collin Sexton had the chance to be a hero in the loss to the Bulls but came up empty in the final seconds. "I felt like I got to my spot and that was the right spot," Sexton told reporters. "They told me to take that, I'm going to make it the next time." The Hornets mauled the Cavaliers 126-94 on Nov. 3 and enter the rematch fresh off Sunday's impressive 113-103 road win over the Detroit Pistons. "Their effort and their attention to detail were fantastic," Charlotte coach James Borrego told reporters. "I'm really proud of our group on both ends of the floor."

TV: 7 p.m. ET, NBATV, FS Southeast (Charlotte), FS Ohio (Cleveland)

ABOUT THE HORNETS (7-6): Veteran point guard Tony Parker matched his season high of 24 points against Detroit and was a solid 11-of-18 from the field in his latest impressive performance. "He is a leader," star guard Kemba Walker told reporters of Parker. "He brings passion and the winning attitude. He just knows how to win." Walker recorded 24 points and eight assists against the Pistons and is averaging 27.7 points to go along with eight assists over the past three contests.

ABOUT THE CAVALIERS (1-11): Cleveland's injury list continues to grow as forward Cedi Osman (back) will miss second straight game, while swingman Kyle Korver (foot) is slated to miss at least two more games and shooting guard JR Smith (illness) is questionable. The Cavaliers are already without standout forward Kevin Love (foot surgery) for another month while point guard George Hill (shoulder) and forward Sam Dekker (ankle) are also ailing. Sexton made his second career start on Saturday and tallied a season-best 20 points in 34 minutes.

            BUZZER BEATERS

            1. The Hornets have lost their past seven visits to Cleveland.

            2. Cavaliers C Tristan Thompson has recorded three straight double-doubles and scored a season-high 22 points in Saturday's loss to the Bulls.

            3. Charlotte F Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (ankle) was injured against the Pistons and is questionable for Tuesday's game.

            PREDICTION: Hornets 113, Cavaliers 108

              Preview: Rockets at Nuggets

The Carmelo Anthony saga is in high-drama mode as the Houston Rockets visit the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday. Anthony will miss his third straight game due to what the team is terming an "illness" while news reports claim he won't play again for the Rockets.

Anthony appears to be done with Houston after averaging 13.4 points over 10 games while struggling to fit in as a reserve for the first time in his career. Close friend Chris Paul of the Rockets said "Melo's been great, working hard every day," but the quick decision by the organization to move on speaks volumes. Denver's stunning 9-1 start has been followed with three straight setbacks and the squad was outclassed 121-114 by the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday. "This is our first little bit of adversity, so we have respond," center Mason Plumlee told reporters. "We have to come out and play really well our next home game."

TV: 9 p.m. ET, AT&T SportsNet Southwest (Houston), Altitude (Denver)

ABOUT THE ROCKETS (5-7): Houston had the offense clicking during Sunday's 115-103 victory over the Indiana Pacers and guard James Harden poured in a season-best 40 points. Harden connected on eight 3-pointers during the contest and has tallied 25 or more points in four of the last five games. "When we're like that, we're going to score a bunch of points," Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni told reporters. "And if ... our defense can keep improving then we're the team that we want to be."

ABOUT THE NUGGETS (9-4): The Denver slide began with two-point losses to the Memphis Grizzlies and Brooklyn Nets. and coach Michael Malone's frustration level grew with the loss to the Bucks. "I just hate the fact that the way we've closed the games," Malone told reporters. "Forget the wins and losses. But if somebody's going to beat you, make them beat you and I feel like we're really contributing to our own demise right now." Power forward Paul Millsap had his best game of the season Sunday, making five 3-pointers while registering 25 points, eight rebounds and six assists.

              BUZZER BEATERS

              1. The Rockets went 3-0 against the Nuggets last season and have won the past seven meetings.

              2. Denver C Nikola Jokic is averaging 28.5 points over the past two games after putting up 5.8 over the previous four outings.

              3. Houston C Clint Capela (knee) is expected to play after being injured Sunday but SG Gerald Green (ankle) will miss his second straight game.

              PREDICTION: Rockets 119, Nuggets 111

                Preview: Hawks at Warriors

The Golden State Warriors will be without star Stephen Curry for a third straight game when they host the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday. Curry suffered a strained left groin against Milwaukee on Thursday, and a return date has yet to be set.

The Warriors missed Curry on Monday, when only three players scored in double digits during a 121-116 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, the setback coming at a time in which coach Steve Kerr is trying to get his stellar point guard to remain patient. "We're still going to evaluate daily and see where it all goes, but it's frustrating for him," Kerr told reporters. "He's had such a great start to the year. But again, it's a new injury for him and we've got to make sure he's fully healthy before we put him back out there." The Hawks have dropped four straight games, including a 107-106 setback against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday in the opener of their four-game road trip. Atlanta is just 1-6 away from home, but it came close to posting a win until LeBron James scored the decisive hoop for the Lakers with 15.3 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.

TV: 10:30 p.m. ET, NBA TV, FS Southeast (Atlanta), NBCS Bay Area (Golden State)

ABOUT THE HAWKS (3-10): Rookie point guard Trae Young continued his strong start with 20 points and 12 assists against the Lakers, but he felt a bit sour due to the result. "It was a battle, for sure. The way the whole game went back and forth," Young told reporters. "They made a lot of plays, we made a lot of plays. I feel like I could have done a little bit more to help get my team the win." Young has posted double-doubles in four of his last six games and is averaging 18.5 points and 8.2 assists.

ABOUT THE WARRIORS (11-3): Small forward Kevin Durant recorded 33 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists while Klay Thompson scored 31 points but was just 5-for-16 from 3-point range in the loss to the Clippers. Kerr was concerned that the defense allowed 90 points over the first three quarters before giving up just 16 in the fourth while forcing the extra session. "Our defense turned it up the last six minutes, and that got us back in the game and gave us a chance to win," Kerr said during his postgame press conference. "We didn't deserve it. It was their game. They deserved it."

                BUZZER BEATERS

                1. The Warriors have won each of the last seven meetings and 12 of the last 13.

                2. Hawks C Dewayne Dedmon (personal reasons) will miss his second straight game.

                3. Golden State backup PG Shaun Livingston (foot) scored eight points in 19 minutes against the Clippers after missing the previous seven contests.

                PREDICTION: Warriors 125, Hawks 104

                  Preview: Penguins at Devils
                  Gracenote
                  Nov 12, 2018

Evgeni Malkin is mired in a scoring funk - well, by his standards - as the 2012 Hart Trophy winner has failed to dent the scoresheet in each of his last four games. Pittsburgh's leader in assists (13) and points (20), Malkin will look to get back on track as he plays his 800th career NHL game on Tuesday when the Penguins visit the New Jersey Devils.

Malkin, who made his NHL debut versus the Devils on Oct. 18, 2006, was held in check during a 5-1 setback to New Jersey on Nov. 5. Sidney Crosby was also blanked versus the Devils, although the captain scored for the second straight game and added an assist as Pittsburgh snapped a five-game skid with an emphatic 4-0 victory against Arizona on Saturday. The Metropolitan Division cellar-dwelling Devils return to the Garden State after being outscored 18-6 in their last three contests and falling to 1-6-0 on its seven-game road trip following Sunday's 5-2 setback in Winnipeg. "It's a pretty brutal road trip coming to an end and we didn't do what it took to win on the road consistently," forward Kyle Palmieri told reporters.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh, MSG (New Jersey)

ABOUT THE PENGUINS (7-5-3): Casey DeSmith temporarily has usurped two-time Stanley Cup-winning goaltender Matt Murray with his recent play, as the former registered his second shutout of the season and lowered his goals-against average to 1.89 after turning aside all 39 shots he faced versus the Coyotes. "That's my job. Just to show up when I get the chance," the 27-year-old DeSmith told reporters. "I think so far, I've given the team a chance to win when I've played. I take pride in that." Conversely, Murray is 0-3-1 in his last four starts and has permitted at least four goals in each of his five starts at PPG Paints Arena.

ABOUT THE DEVILS (6-8-1): Brian Boyle, who had been diagnosed with a form of bone marrow cancer in 2017, provided one of the more uplifting moments of this season by registering his first career hat trick against Pittsburgh, on "Hockey Fights Cancer" night, no less. Reigning Hart Trophy recipient Taylor Hall set up Boyle's third goal in that meeting versus the Penguins, against whom he has 16 points (five goals, 11 assists) in 14 career encounters. Travis Zajac began a three-game goal-scoring streak by capping the scoring in Pittsburgh last week before being held off the scoresheet against the Jets.

                  OVERTIME

                  1. New Jersey G Keith Kinkaid improved to 4-2-2 in his career versus Pittsburgh after turning aside 35 shots in last week's meeting.

                  2. Penguins F Jake Guentzel, who set up D Jamie Oleksiak's goal versus the Devils, has all six of his assists this season in the last seven games.

                  3. New Jersey F Blake Coleman scored versus Winnipeg to push his point streak to three games.

                  PREDICTION: Penguins 4, Devils 1

                    Preview: Canucks at Islanders
                    Gracenote
                    Nov 13, 2018

The New York Islanders came up empty in the Sunshine State after registering at least one point in seven consecutive games (5-0-2), including three straight at home. New York looks to begin a similar streak when it kicks off another three-game stretch at Barclays Center on Tuesday against the Vancouver Canucks.

The Islanders have gone three contests without a victory (0-2-1), a span that includes back-to-back 4-2 road setbacks against Tampa Bay and Florida. Brock Nelson scored his team-leading eighth goal in Saturday's loss to the Panthers, giving him a point in eight of his last 10 games and leaving him one shy of 200 for his career. Vancouver had its six-game point streak (4-0-2) halted on Monday as it dropped a 2-1 decision to the New York Rangers to fall to 1-1-2 on its six-game road trip. Nikolay Goldobin scored the lone goal for the Canucks, who conclude their trek Thursday in Minnesota.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, Sportsnet Pacific (Vancouver), MSG Plus (New York)

ABOUT THE CANUCKS (10-7-2): Rookie Elias Pettersson celebrated his 20th birthday on Monday but was kept off the scoresheet in a second straight contest for the first time in his brief career after collecting three goals and four assists during a three-game point streak. The Swedish center, who was selected with the fifth pick of the 2017 draft, leads the team in both goals (10) and points (17). Goldobin's goal against the Rangers was his first since the season opener and gave him seven points in as many contests.

ABOUT THE ISLANDERS (8-6-2): Several other players are closing in on milestones - including Josh Bailey, who needs six points to reach 400 in the NHL. The 29-year-old right wing, who leads the team with 17 points, has been kept off the scoresheet in only two of his last 11 games. Reigning Calder Trophy winner Mathew Barzal ended his 13-game goal-scoring drought in his 100th league contest on Saturday, leaving him one point away from 100 for his career.

                    OVERTIME

                    1. Islanders G Thomas Greiss' next appearance will tie him with Mark Fitzpatrick (129) for ninth place in franchise history in games played by a goaltender and next victory will move him past Glenn Healy (66) for seventh.

                    2. Vancouver C Bo Horvat has notched three assists in his last three games and needs three more to reach 100 for his career.

                    3. Bailey and Islanders LW Anders Lee are tied for 18th on the franchise list with 129 goals.

                    PREDICTION: Canucks 4, Islanders 2

                      Nov 12, 2018

Captain Claude Giroux and the Philadelphia Flyers are on quite the roll, as the former has collected three goals and five assists during his last three games to help the latter improve to 5-0-1 in its last six. Giroux, who was named the NHL's Third Star of the Week, and the Flyers aim to continue their respective torrid stretches on Tuesday when they host the Florida Panthers.

Giroux recorded his 50th career three-point performance with a goal and two assists in Saturday's 4-0 win over Chicago to move within one point of becoming the fourth member of the franchise's 700-point club. "It is a great honor," the 30-year-old told reporters. "There have been a lot of good players who played here, and to be able to be in that group (Bobby Clarke, Bill Barber, Brian Propp) is really special." While Philadelphia has won three in a row, Florida has done one better and has yielded just six goals in the process heading into the opener of a season-high six-game road trip. "Goalies have won the games for us the last four games and have been really good and we can rely on them," said captain Aleksander Barkov, who tallied in the first encounter with the Flyers this season.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, TVA, FS Florida, NBCS Philadelphia

ABOUT THE PANTHERS (6-5-3): Mike Hoffman and Evgenii Dadonov each scored in Florida's 6-5 shootout loss to Philadelphia on Oct. 16, with the former extending his career-best point streak to 12 games (seven goals, seven assists) while the latter has six tallies and seven assists on his 11-game run after Sunday's 5-1 win over Ottawa. "Barky's line led the way," Florida coach Bob Boughner said of the top line consisting of Barkov, Hoffman and Dadonov following the victory. "They got the first one, and you could see every line just follow and start gaining some momentum." Fellow forward Jonathan Huberdeau has done quite nicely for himself, collecting 12 points (three goals, nine assists) over his past 10 games.

ABOUT THE FLYERS (9-7-1): Like Giroux, Wayne Simmonds also tallied twice against Florida and joins the captain and Sean Couturier with a team-high seven goals this season. "We've started to figure things out," the 30-year-old Simmonds told Philly.com following Monday's practice. Brian Elliott, who boasts a 6-3-0 career mark versus Florida, has a .952 save percentage in his last five appearances after turning aside all 33 shots he faced on Saturday as Philadelphia improved to 2-0-0 on its season high-matching five-game homestand.

                      OVERTIME

                      1. Florida has lost in each of its last five trips to Philadelphia.

                      2. The Flyers have scored the first goal in six consecutive contests.

                      3. The Panthers are 9-for-31 on the power play over the last seven games.

The surging Detroit Red Wings hope to make it much easier on themselves as they go for a fourth straight victory Tuesday night when the improving Arizona Coyotes pay a visit. The Red Wings have won each of their last three games after regulation - two in shootouts - and own six victories in the past seven outings overall following a rough start to the season when they dropped nine of 10 contests (1-7-2).

Detroit gave up 52 shots against Carolina on Saturday and trailed by two goals entering the third period before Anthony Mantha scored twice to tie it and Frans Nielsen was the only player to convert in the shootout. “We’re definitely not playing our best hockey right now but we are finding ways,” Nielsen told reporters. “We’ve got to take that right now. But in the long run over 82 games, we can’t keep playing like this. We’ve got to step it up.” The Coyotes snapped out of an 0-2-1 stretch with an impressive 4-1 victory at reigning Stanley Cup champion Washington on Sunday despite being outshot 39-22 as goalie Darcy Kuemper came up big. Arizona, which has lost three straight and five of the past six to the Red Wings, started the week tied for fourth in the Pacific Division at 8-7-1 after opening last season 2-12-2 in the first 16 games.

TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, FS Arizona, FS Detroit

ABOUT THE COYOTES (8-7-1): Richard Panik notched a goal and an assist for his first multi-point game of the season Sunday while fellow forward Alex Galchenyuk matched him and boasts eight points in his first nine contests this season. Center Clayton Keller recorded six of his team-leading 12 points in the past seven games while defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson registered six of his 11 in the past six contests. Kuemper struggled in his first three games after No. 1 goalie Antti Raanta (5-4-0, .929 save percentage) went down with a lower-body injury, but earned his third victory Sunday.

ABOUT THE RED WINGS (7-8-2): Mantha snapped a four-game point drought with his first two-goal effort of the season Saturday after scoring just three times in 12 contests and posting a minus-12 rating in October. “He’s a goal scorer and if you give him almost anywhere inside the blue line, his wrist shot is heavy enough to beat a goalie,” Nielsen told reporters of Mantha. “He can be a difference maker every night.” Dylan Larkin leads the team with 17 points - 10 coming in the past seven contests - while fellow forward Gustav Nyquist is riding a seven-game point streak.

                        OVERTIME

                        1. Arizona F Brad Richardson, who is slated to play his 700th NHL game Tuesday, has five goals - two more than he recorded in 76 games last season.

                        2. Detroit F Andreas Athanasiou boasts two goals and two assists in two games since returning from an injury absence.

                        3. The Coyotes are 5-0-0 when being outshot this season after Washington had a 39-22 edge Sunday.

The Buffalo Sabres are looking more like a contender this season by finding ways to pull out games and will look to test themselves against the Eastern Conference-leading Tampa Bay Lightning at home Tuesday night. The Sabres knocked off Montreal 6-5 in overtime on Thursday before rallying late to tie and later defeat red-hot Vancouver 4-3 in a shootout Saturday to extend their home point streak to four (3-0-1).

“It’s a good feeling to have that belief,” Buffalo forward Sam Reinhart told reporters after Saturday’s win. “You’re going to run through adversity throughout the year and you sort of need to keep that belief. Things aren’t going to go your way, you’re going to have bad nights. (Saturday) I think wasn’t our best night, but we found a way to get the job done and get two points.” The Sabres split four matchups in the season series last season, but the Lightning are 6-1-1 in the past eight meetings as they begin a tough four-game road trip that continues on to Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Nashville. Tampa Bay will have to turn the page on a dispiriting 6-4 loss to Ottawa on Saturday after giving up four unanswered goals in the final 20 minutes to end a four-game winning streak. “It’s time to reset,” Lightning forward Tyler Johnson told the team’s website. “We’ve got to have a good road trip, get some wins here. It’s all about the start and trying to get some momentum right away.”

TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, NBC Sports Network

ABOUT THE LIGHTNING (12-4-1): Victor Hedman scored in his first game back following a seven-game injury absence, but fellow defenseman Anton Stralman is considered day-to-day after missing Saturday’s contest with an upper-body injury. Right wing Mathieu Joseph scored twice in the loss to Ottawa and has posted four goals in the last four contests after going without one in the first 13 games of his NHL career. Center Brayden Point leads the team with nine goals and 19 points, but owns a minus-4 rating in the last two games, while right wing Nikita Kucherov (198 career assists) is next with 18 after managing two shots combined the past two contests.

ABOUT THE SABRES (9-6-2): Captain Jack Eichel, who missed parts of Saturday’s game with a lower-body injury but returned for the third period, has seven assists in his last four games to tie Jeff Skinner for the team lead in points (19). Skinner (398 career points) tops the team with 12 goals after posting six in the past five games and Reinhart has registered three two-point performances in his last four contests to double his output on the season. Rasmus Dahlin, the first pick in last June’s draft, recorded his first two-point game in the NHL with two assists Saturday and fellow defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen owns five points in the last five contests.

                          OVERTIME

                          1. Tampa Bay D Ryan McDonagh boasts 199 career assists after posting five to go along with a plus-6 rating in the last four games.

                          2. The Sabres are 0-for-9 on the power play the last three contests, but have killed off all 11 opportunities in a four-game span.

                          3. Lightning G Andrei Vasilevskiy is 7-1-1 with a 1.66 goals-against average, .941 save percentage and two shutouts lifetime versus Buffalo.

                          PREDICTION: Sabres 3, Lightning 2

The Minnesota Wild are off to the best start in franchise history after finishing a strong road trip and look to continue their surge when the reigning Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals pay a visit Tuesday night. The Wild have accumulated 24 points - most ever through 17 games for the club - after going 5-2-0 on a monster road trip and have not lost in regulation at home this season (5-0-2).

Minnesota won its third straight contest Sunday with a 3-2 triumph at St. Louis - its third game in four days after flying in from the west coast - while scoring the only goal of the third period. “It says that they’ve got a lot of character,” Wild coach Bruce Boudreau told reporters. “They wanted to win. You could tell there wasn’t a lot of energy out there. We didn’t have a lot of push in their zone. We were pretty opportunistic when we had to be.” The Capitals, who have won seven straight in the series, are going in the opposite direction after managing 11 goals on a just-completed five-game homestand (2-2-1) - including two combined in two straight defeats to end it. “Just that little extra seems to be lacking,” Washington defenseman John Carlson told reporters. “. … We’re just a little blah right now. We’re used to trusting ourselves to make some plays that right now aren’t happening, so maybe it’s time to pivot back to a little more simpler game and build up that execution point.”

TV: 8 p.m. ET, NBCS Washington, FS North (Minnesota)

ABOUT THE CAPITALS (7-6-3): Washington entered the week 29th in the league in penalty killing after giving up six goals in 16 opportunities over the last four games and at least one in 12 of 16 contests. “It’s not getting it done,” head coach Todd Reirden told reporters of the penalty kill. “You can continue to look at it different ways. … but right now it’s costing us games. We can’t expect to win when you’re giving up penalty-kill goals like we are at the rate we are.” Center Nicklas Backstrom owns a five-game point streak and is tied with captain Alex Ovechkin at 19 points - one behind team leader Evgeny Kuznetsov.

ABOUT THE WILD (11-4-2): Forward Mikael Granlund leads the team with 18 points after scoring the game winner in the third period Sunday for his fourth goal in three games and 10th of the season, prompting Boudreau to tell reporters: “He’s our best offensive player.” Zach Parise owns three goals in the last four outings and is second on the team with 16 points while Jason Zucker rebounded from a four-game point drought by scoring once and setting up three others the last two contests. Defenseman Jonas Brodin recorded three of his five points in the past two games with a goal, a pair of assists and a plus-5 rating.

                            OVERTIME

                            1. Washington G Braden Holtby (5-4-2, .903 save percentage) is 1-2-0 in his last three games after allowing six goals combined.

                            2. Minnesota G Devan Dubnyk (8-3-2, .933 SP) allowed two or fewer goals in seven of his last nine starts.

                            3. Ovechkin and Kuznetsov each have six power-play goals, one behind the league lead through Sunday’s games.

The Canadiens begin their three-game swing through western Canada against the struggling Edmonton Oilers on Sunday and hope Max Domi continues the torrid start to his career in Montreal. Domi was suspended in the preseason for punching unwilling Florida defenseman Aaron Ekblad but has burst out of the gate with nine goals and 21 points in 17 contests, and is riding his second six-game point streak of the campaign.

Domi, who has four goals and 10 points in six November contests, was shifted to center by coach Claude Julien during his abbreviated preseason and the move is paying off. "He seems to enjoy covering a lot of ice,'' Julien told reporters recently about Domi. "It’s just natural for him to skate the way he’s skating right now and I think part of that, too, by skating as much as he is right now is giving him the confidence to do what he’s doing. He’s shooting pucks, he’s attacking with speed, and he just seems extremely comfortable there." Edmonton has lost four straight after a 4-1 setback against Colorado on Sunday, allowing a goal at 26 seconds and chasing the game the rest of the way. Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins told reporters: "You can't take a period off, you can't take any shifts off. Good hockey teams make you pay for that" while coach Todd McLellan added: "We know where we're at right now, we know what we've done the last four games. That doesn't sit well with anybody."

TV: 9 p.m. ET, TSN2; RDS (Montreal), Sportsnet West (Edmonton)

ABOUT THE CANADIENS (9-5-3): Tomas Tatar (15 points), another newcomer to Montreal, has scored four of his seven goals in the last three games, including one in Saturday's 5-4 victory over Vegas - his former team. Brendan Gallagher (nine goals) hasn't scored in five contests since recording four tallies in three games. Carey Price (5-4-3, 3.07 goals-against average, .892 goals-against average) yielded to backup Antti Niemi on Saturday after allowing 19 goals in his previous four contests (1-2-1).

ABOUT THE OILERS (8-8-1): Connor McDavid (10 goals, 23 points this season), the two-time defending Art Ross winner, hasn't recorded a point in two of his last three games after recording at least one in 13 of his first 14 contests. Leon Draisaitl, who shares the team lead in goals with McDavid, had his three-game scoring streak halted Sunday. Cam Talbot (5-7-1, 3.09 goals-against average, .895 goals-against average) was pulled in the second period Sunday after allowing three goals on 15 shots.

                              1. Edmonton has allowed a power-play goal in each of its last four games and had the fifth-worst penalty-killing unit at 72.7 percent entering Monday while the Canadiens yielded two power-play tallies Saturday after killing 25-of-26 in the previous seven contests.

                              2. Montreal is 9-5-1 on the western Canada swing over the last five seasons.

                              3. The Oilers swept both meetings in 2017-18 by a combined 10-3 with LW Jujhar Khaira scoring three of his 11 goals last season in those games.

The Toronto Maple Leafs bid to rebound from their first loss away from home on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Kings, who are wrapping up their season-high seven-game homestand. The Maple Leafs saw their three-game winning streak come to a halt and fell to 6-1-0 on the road following a disheartening 5-1 setback at Boston on Saturday.

"I don't think about 6-1, I think about 0-1," Toronto coach Mike Babcock told reporters of the loss. "Let's just get regrouped and get back at (it). Things have gone well for us all year and we plan on regrouping and playing well." John Tavares scored Toronto's lone goal versus the Bruins to extend his point streak to five games (three goals, three assists) while boosting his point total to 19 - with 13 coming on the road. While the Maple Leafs' fortunes have been rather promising this season, the Kings were dealt yet another blow after learning that goaltender Jack Campbell will miss four to six weeks with a torn left meniscus. Peter Budaj is expected to be Los Angeles' starting netminder on Tuesday, although his lone appearance this season came on Oct. 13.

ABOUT THE MAPLE LEAFS (11-6-0): Defenseman Morgan Rielly set up Tavares' 10th goal on Saturday to give him points in back-to-back games and seven (three goals, four assists) in his last six. Mitch Marner also had an assist against Boston and scored a goal in Toronto's 4-1 win over Los Angeles on Oct. 15. Kasperi Kapanen tallied twice against the Kings, but has been held off the scoresheet in five of his last six games overall.

ABOUT THE KINGS (5-10-1): Los Angeles recalled goaltender Cal Petersen from Ontario of the American Hockey League to replace the roster spot of Campbell, who fell to 5-7-0 on the season after turning aside 35 shots in Saturday's 1-0 setback versus Calgary. The 24-year-old Petersen posted a 2-3-1 mark, 4.29 goals-against average and .881 save percentage with the Reign this season after ranking first in wins and tied for first in shutouts among AHL rookies in 2017-18. The Kings haven't given their goaltenders much offensive support this season, scoring a league-worst 2.06 goals per game entering play on Monday.
