Comp play for Friday is the Sixers as the small road favorite over the Pistons.
No question Philly has been a different team away from their home court, as the 76ers are 13-1 straight up at home, but just 4-8 on the road. One of those those losses came at the end of October in overtime at the same Pistons they will be facing tonight.
That loss was the only Detroit win in the last 6 series meetings both straight up and against the spread, so not going to get too carried away with the one point overtime win on October 23rd, especially since Detroit has been run out of the gym their last two times on court.
Double-digit losses to both Oklahoma City at home and Milwaukee on the road their last time out does not bode well against one of the upper-echelon squads in the Eastern Conference.
Lay the small road wood tonight and back Philadelphia.

I'm looking for my fourth straight NHL free winner tonight.
Tuesday it was the Coyotes, Wednesday it was the Sharks and last night I delivered the Over in the Blackhawks-Golden Knights game.
I'm still convinced the Sharks can emerge as the best team in the Western Conference, as they're a good team at both ends of the ice, and on special teams.
San Jose has the ninth-best power play, it has the third-best penalty kill, it ranks 12th with 90 goals scored, it ranks third with an average of 34.9 shots per game, and fifth in shots against per game with 29.4.
The Sharks are a very dangerous team, and this is a cheap price to lay against the Stars, who have won three in a row and will run into a buzzsaw tonight.
San Jose is going to come out firing in this one, as it has had much success when scoring first, with a 13-2-4 mark, and 9-1-2 when leading after one period. And the offense will be led by Joe Pavelski, who has scored five goals and seven points in his previous five games and is currently eighth among NHL players in goals (18). Pavelski has scored 13 goals in his last 16 games since Nov. 3.
Take the Sharks tonight.

COMPLIMENTARY WINNER
I'm headed to the ice for tonight's complimentary winner, as I like the surging Winnipeg Jets on the Puck Line against the St. Louis Blues.
The Jets have won four straight - all tight games - including three on the road at New Jersey, Brooklyn and Long Island. Now, back home for the first time since Nov. 29, the Jets will celebrate their winning ways on a Friday night with their home crowd as they open a four-game homestand.
Winnipeg - which is 9-3-2 at home - has played one-goal games in four of its last five outings, and now has a chance to blow things open and continue to streak with upcoming games against Philadelphia, Chicago and Edmonton.
Tonight, it'll be the Blues, who have lost four of five and seven of nine. They've also lost six of eight on the road. They're 3-6-2 on the road this season.
The Jets are 3-0-0 in December, while the Blues are 0-1-1 this month.
Lay the puck line.

Friday night comp play comes in hockey on the Anaheim Ducks to snare the home win over the Carolina Hurricanes.
This will be the last of three for the 'Canes in California, and since they have failed in stops in both Los Angeles and San Jose, getting outscored 7-1 along the way, why not call for the "hat trick" to be complete in tonight's stop in Anaheim?
The Ducks are blowing hot right now, 5 wins in a row after their home win over Chicago the other night, and 7 wins now in their last 8 games overall!
Included in their current run is a 2-1 overtime win at Carolina, as Anaheim has been able to keep Carolina out of the win column in each of the last 5 series meetings.
Overall, the Ducks are on a 13-3 run over the Hurricanes, winning 6 of the last 7 played at the Honda Center.
Based on those ledgers, no choice here but to back the home team tonight on the ice.

My free play for tonight is in the FCS Playoffs, as I like No. 7 Maine and No. 2 Weber State to stay Under the posted total. When I first looked at this game, and saw the number at 48 1/2 points, I loved the Under.
This morning, the number was clipped by three points, as the sharps have taken this number down by a field goal, as it's now 45 1/2. And YES - the sharps play the small schools because they know how much value there is in these games, and how smart it is to take advantage.
So I'm playing the Under when these defensive powerhouses collide in the FCS quarterfinals.
Anyone who follows college football knows defense has been the staplemark at Weber State - where this game is being played - under coach Jay Hill. The Wildcats boast one of the top defense in the nation, ranked 20th overall. And with this team hosting this round, I believe the home crowd will be riled up for this one.
Maine, which has the 9th best defense in FCS play, comes from cold country, I get that, but Ogden, Utah is no easy place to play. It's cold, rowdy, high in altitude and the Black Bears may be running into a buzzsaw. It won't be as easy as last weekend's 55-27 victory over Jacksonville State.
Weber State will make things hard on sophomore quarterback Chris Ferguson, who has thrown for nearly 2,000 yards (1,877) and 19 touchdowns this season. And once he's shut down, the Black Bears willl rely on running backs Ramon Jefferson and Earnest Edwards.
Neither program has ever advanced past the quarterfinals, making tonight's contest more than just a playoff game, and their ticket to the next round is going to depend on which team has the better defense.
Maine has the second-best rushing D in the country, and allows an average of just 21.6 points per game - the 22nd-best scoring defense in the land. The Black Bears should have no trouble slowing Weber State's 101st-ranked offense.
Weber State allows 21.0 points per contest - the 15th-best scoring defense in the country, while it has the eighth-best turnover margin in the nation. It also has the fourth-best 3rd down conversion defense. Tonight the Wildcats tangle with the 93rd-ranked offense.
Play this one low.
