3-Unit Play. Take #604 Central Florida (-10) over Georgia Southern (7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11)
I really like this Georgia Southern team. I think they may end up winning the Sun Belt. But I think that they are overmatched here. The Eagles have only played one team from a major conference, a trip out to Arizona. The Wildcats are not what they once were and they still overpowered the Eagles for a 30-point win. I think that Central Florida is a bit better than that Arizona team. And they have double-digit blowouts over teams that are very comparable in overall talent to GSU (Rider, Fullerton, St. Joseph's, Western Kentucky and Northern Kentucky). They've beaten up the mid-majors. And I think they can do the same here. The Eagles only have three guys taller than 6-4 and no one is taller than 6-8. UCF's starting front line goes 6-6, 6-11 and 7-6 and they bring a 6-9 forward off the bench. They are simply too big and too strong. They will dominate the boards and be able to slow this game down. Georgia Southern wants to play fast. Central Florida plays slow and deliberately and their defense, which is in the Top 20 in points and field goal percentage, will be better than GSU's offense. The Eagles shoot well from the field, but they are one of the worst 3-point shooting teams in the country. I simply don't see how they will be able to get close enough to the basket to score at their usual clip. UCF will keep it rolling.
