            Preview: Avalanche at Flames
            Gracenote
            Jan 9, 2019

The Calgary Flames had plenty of success on their just-concluded road trip and look to carry it over to their homestand as they begin a five-game stretch at Scotiabank Saddledome on Wednesday against the Colorado Avalanche. Calgary went 3-1-0 on its trek, which ended with Monday's 4-3 triumph in Chicago.

Johnny Gaudreau scored twice in the victory, giving him seven goals during his five-game streak and 13 over his last 11 contests. The 25-year-old left wing, who leads the Flames in goals (26), assists (38) and points, also has set up six goals during his scoring run. Colorado's road losing streak reached five contests (0-4-1) Tuesday as it began its five-game trip with a 7-4 loss in Winnipeg. Captain Gabriel Landeskog netted a pair of tallies in the setback to increase his total to a team-leading - and career-high - 27 goals as the Avalanche lost for the seventh time in eight contests.

TV: 9:30 p.m. ET, Altitude (Colorado), Sportsnet West (Calgary)

ABOUT THE AVALANCHE (20-15-8): Nathan MacKinnon is riding a seven-game point streak after notching two assists against the Jets. The 23-year-old center has collected four goals and six assists during the run and has landed on the scoresheet in 14 of his last 15 games. Landeskog accomplished another personal best Tuesday as his first goal of the contest was his ninth on the power play this season, eclipsing the previous high he set in 2014-15 and matched last campaign.

ABOUT THE FLAMES (27-13-4): Elias Lindholm, who set up a pair of tallies against the Blackhawks, has collected four goals and 12 assists over his last 11 games. The 24-year-old Swede has shattered his previous career highs by recording 20 goals and 50 points while Matthew Tkachuk notched an assist Monday to also hit the half-century mark in points for the first time, making Calgary the first team with four players (Gaudreau, Sean Monahan) to reach the plateau within the first 45 contests of a season since the 1995-96 Pittsburgh Penguins. James Neal, who has scored at least 21 goals in each of his first 10 NHL seasons, has recorded only four over 43 games during his first campaign with the Flames.

            OVERTIME

            1. Gaudreau, the NHL's reigning First Star of the Week, already has eclipsed his goal total in 80 games last season (24) and is four away from matching the career high he set in 2015-16.

            2. Colorado RW Mikko Rantanen is one goal shy of joining Chris Drury as the only players in team history to score at least 20 in each of their first three full NHL seasons.

            3. Monahan has collected two goals and nine assists during his five-game point streak.

            PREDICTION: Flames 4, Avalanche 3

              Preview: Senators at Ducks
              Gracenote
              Jan 8, 2019

A frustrating eight-game winless streak has sent the Anaheim Ducks spiraling into fourth place in the Pacific Division while the same run of futility has dropped the Ottawa Senators into last place in the NHL. The sputtering teams are intent to prove that eight is enough as they bid to regain their footing at the other's expense on Wednesday when they meet at Honda Center in Anaheim.

"If there is one issue, it's a lot easier to fix. It's a matter of buckling down, getting in a groove again and playing the right way shift in, shift out," Anaheim captain Ryan Getzlaf said. "There are small areas of the game we're making mistakes all the time. When they're repeated mistakes, that's when it hurts you." The Ducks are coming off their second shutout loss in their last six outings and have seen their 30th-ranked offense muster a total of just 11 goals during the team's winless skid (0-6-2). On the flip side, Ottawa has been quite generous as it has allowed 37 tallies during the longest winless streak (0-7-1) in franchise history since November 1997. "We're not doing enough of the little things to win right now and it (stinks)," Senators forward Chris Tierney said.

TV: 10 p.m. ET, TSN5, RDS (Ottawa), Prime Ticket (Anaheim)

ABOUT THE SENATORS (15-23-5): Matt Duchene has scored in three straight games and six times in his last eight to boost his goal total to 18, but his availability for the entire California road trip is in limbo with his pregnant wife due to give birth soon. Ryan Dzingel scored in his second straight contest and increased his goal total to four during his four-game point streak with his 17th tally in Sunday's 5-4 setback versus Carolina. The surge has the 26-year-old Dzingel, who will be an unrestricted free agent on July 1, upping his trade value with Ottawa expected to be an active seller at the deadline.

ABOUT THE DUCKS (19-17-7): Ondrej Kase has scored nine of his team co-leading 11 goals at home this season and also tallied in Anaheim's 3-0 triumph over Ottawa on Dec. 6, 2017. Adam Henrique scored twice in that contest, but the 28-year-old Ontario native has just two goals in his last 18 games overall. Henrique is not alone with his scoring troubles, as Getzlaf (club-best 20 assists, 29 points) has been held off the scoresheet in each of his last seven contests.

              OVERTIME

              1. Ottawa RW Mark Stone (team-leading 20 goals, 47 points) has four goals and three assists in his last six games.

              2. Anaheim LW Jakob Silfverberg has been held off the scoresheet in eight of his last 10 contests heading into a tilt with his former team.

              3. Tierney notched a pair of assists against the Hurricanes for his first multi-point performance since a 4-2 victory over Detroit on Dec. 14, which served as the Senators' last road win.

              PREDICTION: Ducks 3, Senators 2

                Preview: Predators at Blackhawks
                Gracenote
                Jan 8, 2019

The Nashville Predators have been either white-hot or ice cold away from home this season, but they are picking up steam again and will look to extend their road point streak to five games when they visit the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday night. The Predators have answered a six-game slide by earning points in five straight overall (4-0-1).

Nashville set a franchise record by winning its first eight games on the road, only to lose its next 10 away from home prior to its current run that featured dominating wins over Toronto and Montreal. "It's not long ago when we really struggled on the road, so these are huge for us," Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne said. "It gains some confidence for the group." Nashville will be making its fourth stop on the six-game trek against Chicago, which is in the midst of a rugged stretch facing six of the hottest teams in the league. The Blackhawks, who have split two meetings with the Predators this season, are 3-2-1 since the Christmas break after opening a three-game homestand with a 4-3 loss to Calgary.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, NBC Sports Network, TVAS, Sportsnet360, Sportsnet East, Sportsnet Ontario, Sportsnet Pacific

ABOUT THE PREDATORS (26-15-3): Top-line forward Filip Forsberg returned to the lineup following a 17-game absence in Monday's 4-0 win at Toronto and had three shots on goal. Despite his lengthy absence, Forsberg is tied with Craig Smith for the team lead with 14 goals and has scored at least 26 times in each of the last four seasons, including back-to-back 30-goal campaigns from 2015-17. Rinne had allowed 11 goals over three appearances before earning his third shutout in Monday's 4-0 win over Toronto and owns a 3-1-1 record with nine goals allowed in five starts versus Chicago in the past two seasons.

ABOUT THE BLACKHAWKS (16-22-7): Star forward Patrick Kane continued his torrid stretch since returning from the Christmas break, amassing seven goals and 12 points in the last six games after scoring once and setting up another tally in the loss to Calgary. Kane had an assist in each of the first two meetings with Nashville this season, part of a stretch in which he has piled up 27 points in 19 games since Dec. 1 to boost his team-leading totals to 24 goals and 32 assists. Rookie netminder Collin Delia has lost his last two starts after winning his first three and has faced a staggering 208 shots in his five appearances.

                OVERTIME

                1. Predators D Mattias Ekholm has a goal and an assist in each of the past two games, giving him 30 points -- five shy of his career high.

                2. Blackhawks D Erik Gustafsson has eight assists during a six-game point streak.

                3. Forsberg has five goals and 10 points in 19 games against Chicago.

                PREDICTION: Predators 3, Blackhawks 2

                  Preview: 76ers at Wizards
                  Gracenote
                  Jan 9, 2019

The Philadelphia 76ers look to wallop Washington for the third straight time this season when they conclude a home-and-home set against the host Wizards on Wednesday. Philadelphia rolled to a 132-115 home win over Washington on Tuesday and also trounced the Wizards 123-98 on Nov. 30.

The 76ers shot 55.7 percent from the field and had 39 assists on 49 made baskets in Tuesday's triumph. "That's how we want to play," Philadelphia coach Brett Brown told reporters afterward. "You get into having good players, elite players and potential All-Stars, and it's can we do it in that team environment?" Washington will try to avenge the two losses on its home floor where it has recorded eight straight wins against the 76ers. The Wizards had six players score in double digits on Tuesday but were doomed by a second quarter in which they were outscored 36-16.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, NBCS Philadelphia, NBCS Washington

ABOUT THE 76ERS (27-14): Shooting guard JJ Redick (back) missed his first game of the season and his absence opened the door for rookie Landry Shamet to score a season-best 29 points and set a rookie franchise record with eight 3-pointers. "When you lose JJ, you try to find other ways to score and we sure found ways to score in him," Brown told reporters. "He came out and caught it and shot it. ... He can receive a ball and shoot a ball at the level that he catches it." Shooting guard Jimmy Butler (upper respiratory infection) returned from a two-game absence and scored 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting.

ABOUT THE WIZARDS (16-25): Shooting guard Bradley Beal scored 28 points in Tuesday's game and has scored 20 or more points on 32 occasions this season. Beal was a solid 11-of-18 shooting against Philadelphia for his best effort since being 11-of-17 against the Atlanta Hawks on Dec. 18. Veteran forward Trevor Ariza had just two points on 1-of-7 shooting on Tuesday and he has connected on only 13-of-50 shots over the past four games.

                  BUZZER BEATERS

                  1. The 76ers have won six of the last nine meetings after losing 10 of the previous 11 matchups.

                  2. Philadelphia C Joel Embiid had 20 points and 10 rebounds on Tuesday for his ninth straight double-double and league-leading 35th of the season.

                  3. Washington SF Otto Porter Jr. (thumb) departed Tuesday's game and X-rays were negative and he will be re-evaluated Wednesday.

                  PREDICTION: 76ers 112, Wizards 105

                    Preview: Pacers at Celtics
                    Gracenote
                    Jan 9, 2019

The Boston Celtics are clicking on their home floor and look to finish off a perfect stay at TD Garden when they host the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday. Behind a balanced attack that resulted in a season-high 37 assists on 47 baskets, the Celtics coasted past Brooklyn 116-95 on Monday, improving to 3-0 on the homestand and winning their fifth in a row in Boston.

"It's just moving the ball, moving the bodies, trying to create opportunities for one another," guard Kyrie Irving told reporters after the Celtics posted their fourth consecutive game with at least 30 assists. "It's good." Irving returned from a two-game absence due to an eye injury to score 17 points and seven others finished in double figures for Boston, which improved to 16-7 against Eastern Conference opponents. One of those seven losses in conference play came at Indiana and the Pacers enter the rematch on a high note. Thaddeus Young scored 26 points to lead them past the Cleveland Cavaliers 123-115 on Tuesday, the seventh win in the last eight games for Indiana.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, FS Indiana, NBCS Boston

ABOUT THE PACERS (27-13): Indiana was ahead 38-14 late in the first quarter at Cleveland and it had enough to hold off a late rally by the Cavaliers and improve to 13-8 on the road, but coach Nate McMillan was not pleased to see a massive lead dwindle down to single digits. "I thought we established ourselves defensively, offensively we had good ball movement. And then in the second half we just played the scoreboard," he told reporters. "You don't come with the same intensity, the same energy. We're playing for something bigger. We're working on us." The Pacers finished with 34 assists -- nine by Darren Collison -- against just six turnovers.

ABOUT THE CELTICS (24-15): Boston has increased its single-game assist total in each of the last six contests and entered Tuesday's play leading the East in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.03) as the group becomes more cohesive. "I think a part of learning to play together, that's just something that's going to come," forward Marcus Morris told reporters. "But if the ball is moving, I think everyone is going to get enough opportunities to do what they do to make the defense collapse. We just find the right guy, get it to him. It's easy basketball." Guards Marcus Smart and Terry Rozier have combined for 34 assists against seven turnovers during the team's three-game winning streak.

                    BUZZER BEATERS

                    1. SG Victor Oladipo hit a 3-pointer with 3.4 seconds left and then made a steal on the Celtics' final possession to lift the Pacers to a 102-101 win in the first meeting Nov. 3 in Indiana.

                    2. Smart is 9-for-16 from 3-point range over his last two contests.

                    3. Collison also had four steals with zero turnovers in Tuesday's win.

                    PREDICTION: Celtics 107, Pacers 100

                      Preview: Hawks at Nets
                      Gracenote
                      Jan 9, 2019

The Brooklyn Nets will try to bounce back from their most lopsided loss of the season when they host the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday. The Nets committed a season-high 25 turnovers and shot 40.5 percent from the floor in Monday's 116-95 loss at Boston, just their fourth setback in the last 16 games.

"That was kind of the old Nets," coach Kenny Atkinson told reporters of the sloppy play. "That was a big problem of ours last year and the beginning of this year." Brooklyn will try to rebound at home, where it has won seven of its last eight, a stretch that includes a 144-127 triumph over Atlanta on Dec. 16 in the Nets' highest scoring game at the Barclays Center, their home for six-plus seasons. The Hawks bounced back two nights later with a win to ignite a 5-1 push but they've since lost four of five. Atlanta nearly pulled off a victory at Toronto on Tuesday but allowed the Raptors to score the game's final six points in a 104-101 loss.

TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, FS Southeast (Atlanta), YES (Brooklyn)

ABOUT THE HAWKS (12-28): Guard Kent Bazemore (ankle) missed his fifth straight game, center Miles Plumlee (ankle) was out for the third game in a row and guard Kevin Huerter (calf) also sat out the loss in Toronto. John Collins recorded his 14th double-double in the last 17 games with 21 points and 14 rebounds while Jeremy Lin made good use of his first start of the season with 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting to go along with nine assists. The veteran guard has 35 points on 15-of-19 from the floor in 52 minutes over his last two games.

ABOUT THE NETS (20-22): Guard D'Angelo Russell had six of the turnovers at Boston and scored just five points after averaging 26.5 over his previous four games. Rookie Rodions Kurucs went in the other direction, following up a five-game span in which he was 10-for-31 from the floor by hitting 8-of-15 shots en route to a career high-tying 24 points. Russell scored 32 points and seven others had at least 11 in the win over the Hawks last month, Brooklyn's third straight triumph in the series.

                      BUZZER BEATERS

                      1. Nets PG Spencer Dinwiddie is averaging 13.3 points on 40.5 percent shooting in January after averaging 20 points on 46.6 percent in December.

                      2. Collins is 7-for-10 from beyond the arc in January after going 12-for-46 through the end of December.

                      3. Brooklyn SF DeMarre Carroll (knee), who has scored exactly 20 points in each of his last two outings, missed the game in Boston but hopes to return to action Wednesday.

                      PREDICTION: Nets 119, Hawks 107

                        Preview: Spurs at Grizzlies
                        Gracenote
                        Jan 8, 2019

Two teams heading in different directions square off Tuesday when the San Antonio Spurs visit the Memphis Grizzlies. San Antonio won a season-best five straight games and 13 of its last 16 while the Grizzlies have dropped six straight games and 13 of their past 16.

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich's next victory will be the 1,222th of his career and it will snap a tie with Jerry Sloan for third place on the all-time list. Popovich tied Sloan on Monday when standout guard DeMar DeRozan recorded 26 points and nine assists to help San Antonio post a 119-107 road win over the Detroit Pistons. Memphis' recent woes continued with Monday's 114-95 road loss to New Orleans as the Pelicans scored an astounding 70 points in the paint. "We have to figure out how to win as a team when things don't go our way," Grizzlies center Marc Gasol told reporters after the loss to the Pelicans. "... I think right now our confidence is really fragile and when something bad happens, especially in the second half, we kind of panic."

TV: 8 p.m. ET, FS Southwest (San Antonio), FS Southeast (Memphis)

ABOUT THE SPURS (24-17): Power forward LaMarcus Aldridge scored 25 points on 9-of-12 shooting against the Pistons for his sixth 20-point outing in the past seven games. Aldridge is averaging 26.7 points and made 75-of-122 field-goal attempts during the stretch as he and DeRozan continue to mesh. DeRozan is averaging 19.4 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists during the five-game winning streak and registered the first triple-double of his career against the Toronto Raptors - his former club - when he had 21 points, matched his career-high of 14 rebounds and handed out 11 assists on Jan. 3.

ABOUT THE GRIZZLIES (18-22): Memphis once was 15-9 before the good times evaporated and there has been recent dissension, including a reported physical altercation between veterans Garrett Temple and Omri Casspi. "There are distractions," coach J.B. Bickerstaff told reporters after Monday's loss. "There were some things that happened that did carry some weight with the guys in the locker room. We can't make excuses. There are distractions everywhere. We have to find a way to galvanize in this moment, no matter what the circumstances are." Point guard Mike Conley is playing well through the chaos and had 22 points and 10 assists against New Orleans for his fifth double-double of the campaign.

                        BUZZER BEATERS

                        1. The teams split two games in San Antonio with the Grizzlies winning 104-103 on Nov. 21 and the Spurs prevailing 108-88 last Saturday.

                        2. San Antonio SF Rudy Gay (wrist) sat out against Detroit and will also miss Wednesday's contest.

                        3. Memphis rookie PF Jaren Jackson Jr. has scored in double digits in four consecutive games and is averaging 18 points during the stretch.

                        PREDICTION: Grizzlies 102, Spurs 100

                          Preview: Bucks at Rockets
                          Gracenote
                          Jan 8, 2019

The Houston Rockets just took out the top team in the Western Conference and will try to prove once again that it can knock off one of the best in the East when they host the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday. The Rockets won for the 12th time in the last 14 games when James Harden put together another virtuoso offensive performance in a 125-113 triumph over the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday.

Harden reached 30 points in his 13th straight game with 32 on Monday but did his best work passing out of double teams while handing out 14 assists. "They for sure trapped me, for sure had two on the ball every possession," Harden told reporters. "It feels like every single game, I see a double-team or two on the ball mostly every possession. So, I've got to figure out ways to impact the game, figure out ways to not only score, but get guys involved." The Bucks own the fewest losses in the NBA (11) and are winners of 10 of their last 12 after finishing off a six-game homestand with a 114-102 triumph over Utah. Milwaukee will play 13 of its next 18 games on the road leading into the All-Star break and is a middling 9-7 away from home so far this season.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, ESPN, FS Wisconsin (Milwaukee), AT&T SportsNet southwest (Houston)

ABOUT THE BUCKS (28-11): Milwaukee superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo led with 30 points and 10 rebounds on Monday despite being guarded by 7-1 center Rudy Gobert. "Obviously, he's one of the best defenders in the league," Antetokounmpo told reporters. "Defensive player of the year last year. He can contest every shot. But I was trying to get to my spots. Trying to shoot over him. He's tough." Antetokounmpo helped make up for an off night from point guard Eric Bledsoe, who was held to six points on 3-of-11 shooting while committing six turnovers against Utah.

ABOUT THE ROCKETS (23-16): The beneficiary of several of Harden's assists on Monday was center Clint Capela, who scored a career-high 31 points on 13-of-18 shooting. "From the defense that they gave us, whenever I'm under the rim and you put a little on me, what's going to happen is that 99 (to) 100 percent of the time, I'm gonna dunk the ball," Capela told reporters. "So, that's what happened tonight. I did a good job of finishing aggressive under the rim. That's the kind of game that I wanted to have. It means a lot." Capela is averaging a career-high 17.6 points on 63.9 percent shooting while anchoring the defense and grabbing 12.8 rebounds.

                          1. Rockets PF P.J. Tucker went 7-of-11 from 3-point range on Monday en route to 21 points after going scoreless in a loss at Portland in the previous game.

                          2. Bucks C Thon Maker scored a season-high 15 points in 18 minutes off the bench on Monday.

                          3. Houston took both meetings last season.

                          PREDICTION: Bucks 119, Rockets 109

The New Orleans Pelicans aim to defeat struggling Cleveland for the second time in five days when they host the Cavaliers on Wednesday. New Orleans dominated Saturday's matchup in Cleveland as it rolled to a 133-98 victory.

The Pelicans have won four of their last six games and followed up their trouncing of the Cavaliers with a solid 114-95 home win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday. New Orleans racked up an astounding 70 points in the paint and shot 55.7 percent from the field in the well-played outing. Cleveland owns the worst record in the league and has lost 10 straight games after falling 123-115 to the visiting Indiana Pacers on Monday. "There are no moral victories at this stage," Cavaliers coach Larry Drew told reporters afterward about trimming a 26-point deficit to five. "We've got to be better. That first quarter was our demise."

ABOUT THE CAVALIERS (8-33): The Cavaliers looked headed toward their sixth 20-point loss during the 10-game skid when they trailed 38-16 after one quarter but Drew was pleased that his squad played a strong second half. "We were down huge and we kept fighting," Drew said. "We can look at this game and we can take some things from it and we can build from it. But we have to make sure moving forward that we don't put ourselves in those positions." Backup guard Jordan Clarkson poured in 26 points against the Pacers to follow up a 23-point effort against New Orleans.

ABOUT THE PELICANS (19-22): Star big man Anthony Davis recorded 36 points, 13 rebounds and three blocked shots against Memphis as he continues his stellar play. Davis has at least 20 points and 10 rebounds in each of the past 11 games and has scored 30 or more points on six occasions during the stretch. "That's how we were able to be successful last year, by playing defense," Davis told reporters after the Pelicans held a team under 100 points in back-to-back games after failing to do so even once in the previous 27 games. "It leads us to get a lot of transition points, fast-break points and easy buckets, gets guys wide-open 3s and stuff like that."

                            1. The Pelicans have won their last eight home meetings with the Cavaliers.

                            2. Cleveland SG Rodney Hood (Achilles) will likely miss his third straight game while PF Larry Nance Jr. (knee) will be re-evaluated Wednesday after being injured against the Pacers.

                            3. New Orleans SG E'Twaun Moore (quadriceps) is expected to return after a one-game absence.

                            PREDICTION: Pelicans 132, Cavaliers 104

The Dallas Mavericks attempt to halt a seven-game losing streak to Phoenix when they host the Suns on Wednesday. Dallas dropped this season's first two meetings by an average of 15.5 points and has lost the last four versus Phoenix by an average of 18 points.

The Suns halted a six-game slide with a 115-111 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday and overcame a 21-point deficit despite being without star guard Devin Booker (back). Phoenix is 2-9 without Booker this season and a decision on whether he will play against the Mavericks hasn't yet been made. Dallas has lost three straight games and 11 of 14 and coach Rick Carlisle criticized the lack of ball movement in the second half of Monday's 107-97 home loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. "I don't think we're ever selfish," veteran forward Dirk Nowitzki told reporters. "I think guys are like, 'OK, I can win this for us.' And then the ball sticks a bit. And then the next guy is like, 'I can win this for us.' I don't think it's selfish. I just think it's guys thinking they can make plays for us."

TV: 8:30 p.m. ET, FS Arizona (Phoenix), FS Southwest (Dallas)

ABOUT THE SUNS (10-32): Forward Kelly Oubre Jr. picked up the slack pertaining to Booker's absence by matching his career high of 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting in the win over Sacramento. Oubre is averaging 11.9 points in 11 games since being acquired from the Washington Wizards and he told reporters after the victory that he's finally starting to feel comfortable with his new team. "Honestly, it's finding a place to stay, knowing how to get to the arena, all the little things play a part in the psychological game," Oubre said. "I feel on top of it now and I'm settled in."

ABOUT THE MAVERICKS (18-22): Rookie forward Luka Doncic continued his stellar campaign with 27 points against the Lakers but he is listed as questionable to play against the Suns because of a lower back strain. Doncic has scored in double digits in 15 consecutive games, including two 30-point outings during the stretch. Dallas tallied just 30 second-half points against the Lakers after putting up 67 in the first half, leaving veteran guard J.J. Barea to term the meltdown as "embarrassing."

                              1. The Suns have prevailed in four straight visits to Dallas.

                              2. Mavericks PG Dennis Smith Jr. (back) missed practice Tuesday and his status will be firmed up Wednesday.

                              3. Phoenix recorded a season-high 18 steals against the Kings with two rookies - F Mikal Bridges and G De'Anthony Melton - notching four apiece.

                              PREDICTION: Mavericks 108, Suns 104

The Utah Jazz split a four-game road trip against Eastern Conference opponents and head back home one game under .500 but not discouraged. The Jazz will begin a stretch with eight of nine at home by hosting the slumping Orlando Magic on Wednesday.

Utah hung with the Milwaukee Bucks through three quarters on Monday but was outscored 31-16 in the final period to suffer a 114-102 setback. "Us missing shots and them continually hitting shots - after a while, mentally, it gets to you," Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell told reporters. "Decisions - especially myself down the stretch - decisions start to falter and waver. But I was really impressed with the way we all competed. At the end of the day, this is a loss, but this is a good sign." The Magic are finally at the end of a six-game road trip and dropped to 1-4 on the excursion with a 111-95 loss at Sacramento on Monday, marking the third straight game in which they fell by double digits. "Things aren't going to get any easier, so we either fight through it or we let this thing hit us even harder and our season will be over," Orlando shooting guard Evan Fournier told reporters. "We have two options right now."

TV: 9 p.m. ET, FS Florida (Orlando), AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain (Utah)

ABOUT THE MAGIC (17-23): Orlando surrendered 27 points off 16 turnovers and was outscored 64-24 in the paint against the Kings on Monday. "We talked about these things and we didn't defend the way that we needed to," center Nikola Vucevic told reporters. "We talked about turnovers and we turned the ball over and they got anything that they wanted in the paint. We just weren’t playing the way we talked about. That's frustrating when we're in the position that we're in – we had lost two in a row, and now a third one and we're five games under .500. We should be better and do better." Vucevic collected 18 points and 13 rebounds in the loss but power forward Aaron Gordon struggled to 10 points on 3-of-13 shooting.

ABOUT THE JAZZ (20-21): Utah point guard Ricky Rubio left Monday's loss in the first quarter with a hamstring injury and the team is already without backup Dante Exum (ankle) for a couple of weeks, leaving third-stringer Raul Neto to lead the offense. "He's got a big heart and he's a good player," Jazz coach Quin Snyder told reporters of Neto. "We have confidence in the guys that we have. The guys who are able to go have to go. We'll see where we are. We believe in Raul Neto. Donovan's played some point before, and (small forward) Joe (Ingles) has, too." Neto finished with 10 points, six rebounds and five assists in 29 minutes off the bench in Monday's setback.

                                1. Ingles is 3-of-19 from 3-point range over the last five games.

                                2. Magic PF Jonathan Isaac totaled four points on 2-of-13 shooting over the last two contests.

                                3. Orlando snapped a four-game losing streak in the series with a 96-89 home win on Dec. 15.
