7 Unit Play Take 536 Los Angeles Lakers -1.5 over Detroit (10:35pm est):

The betting markets are having a tough time putting a power rating on this Los Angeles Lakers team without LeBron James on the floor and because of that I think we are getting some nice line value here in this one. Before he got hurt the Lakers were playing some solid basketball at 16-9 in their last 25 games overall. The Lakers have went just 2-5 their last seven games without James but keep in mind they were underdogs in 5 of those 7 contests so they were expected to lose. Outside of their loss to the New York Knicks in a game the Lakers fell apart late, the other six games all came against teams better than the team they face here in this one. This is a Lakers team that finished the 2nd half of last season with a winning record and who have won 5 of their last 7 games low lined games between -2.5 and +2.5 points.

On the other side of things we have a sputtering Detroit Pistons team. The Pistons have just one win in their last six games and that was against a Memphis Grizzlies team that's playing very poorly right now. In fact Detroit is very quietly just 4-14 in their last 18 games. They've benefitted from playing an easy schedule with just 17 road games this year so far and are just 6-11 in those including going just 2-8 overall their last 10 away from home. They've only beat one team with a winning record on the road this season and that was nearly two months ago and by only 2 points over Toronto in a game the Pistons had a miracle comeback after trailing by double digits going into the 4th quarter. Simply put this is not a good team and this line here is way too low.
