I like SHAKESHACKLENROLL here. Difficult to pass on this gelding with Hiraldo in the irons. Has been running solidly lately and should be close to the lead early on. Keep this gelding in your exotics as Hiraldo has given backers some double digit profits. TIZM - Lately Figgins has provided wagerers with a decent winning percentage with horses racing in dirt sprint races. CARABINIERI - The price could be just right on this horse. Has a strong shot for this race if you like back class.

EBONY NIGHTS - I just may give this one a shot. Should improve off last race where she did run outside the top 3, but was within five lengths at the finish line. Have to like the way Hibdon has raced this filly back into shape off the layoff. Horse is well spotted in this sprint and I think she'll run well today. Hibdon moves this filly to the dirt today. Look for a significant improvement from the most recent grass race. MULA CHAMULA - I do like the fact this filly is back in a race so quickly. Last race was at Sam Houston in a race with an Equibase class figure of 59. Dropping considerably in class figure in today's event puts her in a solid position in today's race. Trying to break maiden moving from a turf race to the dirt. I think Torrez will have her in good shape for today's race. MESQUITE BEAN - Roberts has this filly entered in the ideal event. KYRA - This trainer (Bravo) has a fantastic win percentage with first time starters. I like that this first-timer has been working over the Sam Houston oval and makes her debut here today.

BYARS MELODIE - No success for this steed in a sprint race over the last 60 days tells me that this filly is in a very difficult spot A stretch-runner like this one needs an early speed duel to set things up and she isn't likely to get one this time around. KAY K NIKKI - Not the best 'situation' in this race. CAPPYCO - Difficult to wager on any horse in a sprint race at 5/1 when she hasn't shown any competitive efforts in sprints in the last couple months. This filly recorded a speed rating in her last race which likely isn't good enough in today's race.

Horses that finish second in Maiden races and finish well clear of the show horse are generally good bets next time out. I like the case that this filly's last figure, 68, is tops in this field.

UMass is definitely worth a look here at basically a pick'em on their home floor against the Spiders. I know UMass is dealing with some injuries right now, but I think that takes away a lot of the motivation for Richmond, who is already primed for a letdown off that crushing 3-point home loss to VCU. On top of that, they have a huge home game against Dayton on deck, which will be their senior day.
Speaking of senior day, this will be the final home game for the Minutemen. I'm expecting a big effort in this spot. It's also worth noting that UMass failed to cover last time out, as they are a strong 4-1 ATS in their last 5 off a non-cover. On the flip side, Richmond covered in their last game and are just 1-5 ATS last 6 off a cover. Minutemen are also 6-1 ATS last 7 when they come in having failed to cover 3 of their last 4. Take UMass!

I like Rutgers and how they are playing nowadays. The Scarlet Knights have won two straight and three of their last five. They are generally better at home where they've knocked off Minnesota, Indiana, Nebraska and Ohio State already. This team has been a covering machine doing so in six straight and nine of their last 11. They have some solid depth and are starting to play a little bit better defense. Rutgers already beat Penn State on the road 64-60 in a game that saw both teams shoot poorly. Penn State has won five of their last eight, but they've struggled at times on the road. They do have victories at Illinois and Northwestern, but they've also lost at Nebraska and Minnesota as well. This one is going to be a low scoring affair. I'll lean to the home team in this one.

Northern Kentucky won this tournament two years ago but was upset in the first round last year. These are two teams headed in opposite directions. The Norse were 13-5 in the Horizon winning 5 of 7 down the stretch. Detroit started 5-1 and went 3-9 the rest of the way. Northern has won all six meetings in the series including booth games this year ... by 22 and 32. Add to the mix that the Titans are 2-6 L8 in this tournament and lost in this round the last two years and by 12 and 24 and you have an easy call.

Minnesota did lose most recently in their 2nd game of a back to back. However, prior to that loss at Indiana on the 28th, the Wolves were a perfect 4-0 ATS the 4 times in 2019 that they've played the 2nd game of a back to back. As for the Pistons, they are 4-8 ATS in home games with a posted total of 220 or more. Also, Detroit's win over the Raptors stopped a lengthy losing streak for the Pistons against Toronto. Ironically now tonight it is Detroit that is on the other side of a lengthy streak in a series and it is Minnesota's turn to return the favor. Look for the Timberwolves to do just that. The Washington Wizards are still trying to make the playoffs. They are three games back of 8th place in the East. They have won in upset fashion in two of their last three games with their only loss coming on the road to the Celtics. They beat Brookyn on the road 125-116 as 5-point dogs and upset Minnesota 135-121 at home as 1-point dogs. Now the Wizards have had two days off since that win over the Timberwolves on Sunday. The Mavericks appear to be tanking. They are 1-7 SU & 1-7 ATS in their last eight games with all seven losses coming by at least 9 points, including the last two by 30 and 39 points to Memphis and Brooklyn, respectively. Give me the Wizards.
