The Indians were blanked in their season opener in Minnesota, but that's not going to last. And Saturday looks like a good time to break out against Jake Odorizzi, who went 0-3 with a 7.61 ERA in five starts against Cleveland last year and wasn't particularly impressive in spring, either. The Twins managed two runs off Corey Kluber in Game 1, and Trevor Bauer won't offer much relief. He was 2-0 against the Twins last year. He's struck out 32 with four walks in spring, and while he's been giving up the long ball, the Twins don't have the lineup to take advantage, especially in the cold and dense air expected Saturday.

Sonny Gray had an excellent spring in his three starts, but this price against Trevor Williams is 15 cents too high. I was a little surprised that Williams wasn't the opening day starter. I'm certain he didn't want 2018 to end because he was in such a groove from July through September. He has also feasted on Reds hitters going 3-0 with a 2.22 ERA in five starts. In two of his last three starts against the Reds, he didn't allow a run. Pirates are the play.

Purdue is playing its best ball of the season right now and has won and covered its last three since losing to Minnesota in the Big Ten Tournament. The Boilermakers are 6-2 ATS in their last eight. Carsen Edwards is always going to be great. But seeing Ryan Cline step up and make the biggest shots of his career on Thursday has me believing Edwards has the proper supporting cast to propel Purdue into the Final Four. Purdue to cover.

The Red Sox offense found its regular-season footing Friday night, which is bad news for Mariners Saturday starter Mike Leake. Leake is 1-5 all-time against Boston with a 5.30 ERA -- and that includes a surprising eight-inning, shutout effort. The other five outings were especially rough. Seattle's offense may be the real deal, but they'll face a pitcher in Eduardo Rodriguez that's held the Mariners' current lineup to .234 hitting over his career, and went 6-1 with a .213 average allowed on the road in 2018.

Last year, Miami ranked 28th against LHPs with a .228 average, and dead-last against southpaws in homers (28) and scored 26 fewer runs than any other team in baseball against them. They didn't do much in the off-season to think this year will be much better, and the opener against Kyle Freeland (1 run, 7 innings) strengthed that notion. Tyler Anderson should be good enough on Saturday, and the Rockies' lineup, which has put up six runs in both games so far, can get to the promising-but-young Pablo Lopez.
