            NBA | Magic vs Heat
Play on: Heat -5 -105 at pinnacle

My 1* Free Play is on the Miami Heat (7:35 EST).
Orlando got the better of Philadelphia 119-98 at home last night. After that highly satisfying beatdown, I think a letdown is imminent in the second game of the back-to-back scenario for the Magic. Fatigue is a big time factor at this time of year and Miami won’t be taking anything for granted here as it has already lost two of three in this season series.
These teams are fighting tooth and nail for the final playoff spot in the East, putting added incentive for the home side to pull out a victory here and to defend its court.
The Heat return to Miami off a win over the Wizards in Washington, shooting a blistering 50 percent from the floor in the victory, led by 20 points from Dwayne Wade off the bench.
Despite Orlando’s recent “up-tick” in play, note that it’s still 0-4 ATS in its last four on the road.
The Heat on the other hand are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
The Magic are 13-22 SU overall as a visiting team this season and I expect Miami to take advantage.
Consider the home side in this one.
            Good luck…Larry

Play - Denver Nuggets (Game 572).
Edges - Nuggets: 23-13 ATS at home this season, including 3-0 SUATS when coming off a double-digit loss … Pistons: 4-11 ATS versus foes with revenge from a 20-point or more loss … With the Nuggets off a 36-point loss as a favorite, we recommend a 1* play on Denver. Thank you and good luck as always.

Boston Celtics vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Preview and Predictions 03-26-2019 in NBA

                    26th March 2019
                    |
                    Scheduled Quicken Loans Arena Cleveland

The Boston Celtics continue to insist nothing is wrong with the team despite some lackluster results of late. The Celtics will try to avoid a fifth consecutive setback and stay in the race for homecourt advantage in the first round of the playoffs when they visit the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday.

Boston was outscored 30-5 in the final eight minutes of a 124-117 loss at Charlotte on Saturday and struggled to keep the game close in a 115-96 loss to San Antonio at home the next day. "We've just got to take a deep breath and calm down," Celtics guard Marcus Smart told reporters. "We're anxious. We want to get some wins and we want to get back on the track of winning, but we really got to take a deep breath and get back to the team that really got us the reputation that we upheld into this season. Just being dogs on the court, making nobody want to play against us. Right now, teams just feel like they can do whatever they want against us." Cleveland dropped a 127-105 decision at Milwaukee on Sunday but won four of its last five home games, with each of those games played against a team battling for playoff position. The Cavaliers hit the road for five straight after Tuesday's matchup before finishing the regular season with a pair of home games.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, NBCS Boston, FS Ohio (Cleveland)

ABOUT THE CELTICS (43-31): The recent slide pushed Boston two games behind the Indiana Pacers in the race for the No. 4 spot in the East and 4 1/2 behind the third-place Philadelphia 76ers entering play on Monday. All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving won a championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016 and is trying to find a way to pass that experience on to his teammates. "I'm used to gearing up for something bigger than myself around this time," Irving told reporters, "and what it takes, and I have to do a better job of communicating that to my teammates and being a better listener and kind of figuring out how to best communicate with those guys that point. ... This challenge is happening for a reason, and I've got to believe that."

ABOUT THE CAVALIERS (19-55): Cleveland is still trying to win games and former All-Star power forward Kevin Love is doing his part to help. The UCLA product recorded 20 points and 19 rebounds on Sunday and owns seven double-doubles in 15 games since returning from a foot injury that cost him over three months. Rookie point guard Collin Sexton is enjoying a strong finish to the season as well and scored 18 points on Sunday, snapping a season-best streak of eight consecutive games scoring 20 or more points.

                    BUZZER BEATERS

                    1. Celtics C Al Horford (knee), PF Jayson Tatum (back) and C Robert Williams (back) all sat out Sunday and are day-to-day.

                    2. Cavaliers PG Brandon Knight totaled nine points on 4-of-16 shooting in the last two games.

                    3. Boston took the first three meetings by an average of 20 points.

                    Prediction

Boston Celtics 121 Cleveland Cavaliers 113

San Antonio Spurs vs. Charlotte Hornets Preview and Predictions 03-26-2019 in NBA

                      26th March 2019
                      |
Scheduled Time Warner Cable Arena Charlotte

The Charlotte Hornets looked content to slide out of the postseason race and into the lottery during a stretch of 13 losses in 18 games but came roaring back to life over the last three contests with some impressive victories. The Hornets will try to make it four in a row when they host the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday.

Charlotte knocked off Minnesota and Boston at home before going to Toronto and earning a dramatic, last-second victory when Jeremy Lamb's half-court heave splashed through at the buzzer for a 115-114 triumph on Sunday. "That's just how we drew it up," Hornets coach James Borrego told reporters. "They're a great defense - so long, (That shot) was just a contested bomb and he got it up there. He gave it a run and that thing went in." The Spurs are fighting for the best possible seed in a crowded Western Conference and enter play on Monday in the No. 8 spot, but only one game behind the fifth-place Los Angeles Clippers. San Antonio won nine straight before falling to the Miami Heat and Houston Rockets but got back in the win column by letting All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge guide it past the slumping Celtics.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, FS Southwest (San Antonio), FS Southeast (Charlotte)

ABOUT THE SPURS (43-31): Aldridge poured in 48 points on 20-of-31 shooting and added 13 rebounds and six assists in a dominant performance on Sunday to lead San Antonio to a 115-96 victory. Aldridge was held to 10 points on 5-of-13 shooting and four boards in the 111-105 loss at Houston on Friday but had no trouble against a Boston squad missing three rotation players in the frontcourt. Shooting guard DeMar DeRozan joined Aldridge with a double-double (16 points, 11 assists) on Sunday and he is averaging 8.3 assists over the last four contests.

ABOUT THE HORNETS (34-39): Charlotte enters play on Monday two games behind the eighth-place Miami Heat but will play six of the final eight games on the road after finishing up with the Spurs. The Hornets improved to 11-24 away from home with Sunday's victory, during which they knocked down 18 3-pointers - 10 in the third quarter. "I couldn't be prouder of them," Borrego told reporters of his players. "I'm so happy for them. They deserve this win. They battled, they're sticking together, playing for each other. ... I was just proud of them on both ends of the floor. We figured out a way to close out a close game on the road."

                      BUZZER BEATERS

                      1. Hornets SF Nicolas Batum (illness) missed the last two games and is day-to-day.

                      2. Spurs SG Marco Belinelli is 1-of-8 from 3-point range over the last two games and is shooting 31.9 percent from beyond the arc in March.

                      3. Charlotte earned a 108-93 win at San Antonio on Jan. 14 behind 33 points from PG Kemba Walker.

                      Prediction

San Antonio Spurs 109, Charlotte Hornets 101

Orlando Magic vs. Miami Heat Preview and Predictions 03-26-2019 in NBA

                        26th March 2019
                        |
                        Scheduled American Airlines Arena Miami

The Orlando Magic have matched their season-best streak of five straight wins and look to overtake the host Miami Heat on Tuesday. Orlando's hot stretch has enabled it to move within one-half game of the Heat for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Magic pounded Philadelphia 119-98 on Monday for their third 20-point victory during the first 5-0 homestand in franchise history and are ready for the stretch drive. "We will play eight games, and they are all going to be important," Orlando coach Steve Clifford told reporters after Monday's victory. "The game that we played (against Philadelphia) will travel." Miami also has been playing well, recording nine victories in its last 12 games, but has been idle since defeating Washington 113-108 on Saturday. The Heat not only are trying to hold off Orlando, but they are in close pursuit of Detroit and Brooklyn for a higher-seeded position.

TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, FS Florida (Orlando), FS Sun (Miami)

ABOUT THE MAGIC (36-38): Orlando limited Philadelphia to 38 second-half points and held it without a field goal over a stretch of 11 minutes, 42 seconds. "That's really, really good, that's extremely good," shooting guard Evan Fournier told reporters. "That's almost a full quarter. Just good defense, good effort and we had the right intensity and focus." Fournier scored 20 of his 24 points in the second half to complement All-Star center Nikola Vucevic, who recorded 28 points and 11 rebounds for his 54th double-double of the campaign.

ABOUT THE HEAT (36-37): The retiring Dwyane Wade is playing superb down the stretch as he recorded 20 points, nine rebounds and five assists in the win over Washington to notch his ninth straight double-digit scoring performance. "You're not going to deliver every night, but it (darn) sure feels good when you can deliver," the 37-year-old Wade told reporters. "I'm glad that I can be what I once was in moments and situations when the team needs it." Bam Adebayo delivered a fine all-around effort with 16 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists and four blocked shots.

                        BUZZER BEATERS

                        1. The Magic are 2-1 against the Heat this season, including a 105-90 road win on Dec. 4.

                        2. Miami SF Justise Winslow (thigh) could miss his sixth straight game, as he also came down with food poisoning on Monday.

                        3. Orlando PG Michael Carter-Williams scored 15 points against the 76ers in his fourth game with the club.

                        PREDICTION: Magic 108, Heat 105

Chicago Bulls vs. Toronto Raptors Preview and Predictions 03-26-2019 in NBA

                          26th March 2019
                          |
                          Scheduled Air Canada Centre Toronto

The Toronto Raptors look to be settling into the No. 2 spot in the Eastern Conference with two-plus weeks left in the regular season but would prefer to be playing better down the stretch. The Raptors will try to shake off a last-second loss and avoid a three-game slide when they host the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday.

Toronto fell to a stumbling Oklahoma City squad on Friday and dropped a 115-114 decision to Charlotte at home on Sunday, when Hornets guard Jeremy Lamb buried a half-court buzzer-beater. The Raptors fell to four games behind the NBA-best Milwaukee Bucks with eight games remaining and are 3 1/2 games clear of third-place Philadelphia entering play on Monday. The Bulls put together back-to-back wins before falling off against the Utah Jazz on Saturday and getting crushed 114-83. "Obviously, when you dig a 36-point hole or whatever it was, it's kind of hard to come back from that," Chicago forward Lauri Markkanen told reporters. "You gotta compete every night no matter who you're playing against, and I don't think we did that in the first half. And that's pretty much the storyline."

TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, NBCS Chicago, TSN (Toronto)

ABOUT THE BULLS (21-53): Chicago is trying to compete shorthanded and indicated on Saturday that key starters Otto Porter Jr. (shoulder) and Zach LaVine (knee) might not make it back before the end of the regular season. "Otto has had a lot of little nagging injuries that we're trying to pay attention to, and Zach has that patellar tendinitis that he's been dealing with," team president John Paxson told reporters. "We're going to monitor them on a day-to-day basis." The Bulls took off when Porter arrived in a trade from the Washington Wizards at the deadline, winning six of his first eight games with the team, and LaVine leads the team in scoring (23.7 points).

ABOUT THE RAPTORS (51-23): Toronto is trying to find a rhythm with its full lineup healthy and finally had all the pieces together on Sunday with All-Star point guard Kyle Lowry (ankle) returning from a two-game absence and contributing six assists in 28 minutes. The Raptors shot 58.4 percent from the floor and placed six scorers in double figures, led by Kawhi Leonard's 28 points, but allowed the Hornets to knock down 18 3-pointers and saw their 13 turnovers turned into 18 points in the loss. Power forward Pascal Siakam is averaging 27 points over the last three games but totaled 17 turnovers in that span, including five on Sunday.

                          BUZZER BEATERS

                          1. Raptors C Marc Gasol scored 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting Sunday, his highest total since dropping 19 in a win over Portland on March 1.

                          2. Bulls PG Kris Dunn (back, neck) played through pain on Saturday and was limited to four points on 1-of-8 shooting in 21 minutes.

                          3. Toronto, which visits Chicago on Saturday, took the first two meetings by an average of 22.5 points.

                          Prediction: Raptors 115, Bulls 103

LA Clippers vs. Minnesota Timberwolves Preview and Predictions 03-26-2019 in NBA

                            Scheduled Target Center Minneapolis

The battle for positioning in the Western Conference is tight as the final two weeks of the regular season loom, and the Los Angeles Clippers are doing everything they can to ensure they emerge from the pack with the best possible seed. The Clippers will go for their sixth straight win and 12th in 13 games when they visit the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday.

Los Angeles still has a shot at the third or fourth spot in the West, but the real race is the four-way battle for the No. 5 spot, with the Clippers holding a half-game advantage over Oklahoma City and Utah entering play on Monday. Los Angeles struggled a bit on the first stop of the four-game road trip, edging the Cleveland Cavaliers 110-108, but breezed past the New York Knicks 124-113 on Sunday afternoon and will visit the NBA-best Milwaukee Bucks to finish the excursion after finishing up with Minnesota. The Timberwolves are eliminated from the postseason race but snapped a five-game slide with a 112-99 win at Memphis on Saturday behind 33 points and 23 rebounds from All-Star center Karl-Anthony Towns. "Even though we're mathematically out, you got to play for the playoffs for next year," Towns told reporters. "The building starts right now. We've got to get our culture right. We've got to get our defense right. We've got to get our identity right. We don't have to wait until next year in training camp to get started. We can start that right now. There's no better time."

TV: 8 p.m. ET, FS West (Los Angeles), FS North (Minnesota)

ABOUT THE CLIPPERS (44-30): Los Angeles guard Lou Williams is closing in on another Sixth Man of the Year Award and showed off his clutch abilities while scoring the bulk of his 29 points in the fourth quarter to help put away the Knicks on Sunday. The Clippers' bench is a big reason for the team's success, and power forward Montrezl Harrell joined Williams with 24 points on 8-of-12 shooting in New York. Harrell is averaging 20.9 points over his last seven games and recorded three double-doubles in that span.

ABOUT THE TIMBERWOLVES (33-40): Towns is sprinting to the finish despite Minnesota's place in the standings and recorded his seventh consecutive double-double on Saturday while collecting at least 25 points and 20 rebounds for the second time in the last three contests. Towns is the centerpiece of the rebuilding effort while fellow former No. 1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins is trying to prove his place among the game's elite and scored 20 or more points in each of the last three contests. Wiggins is still working on his long-range shooting and is 3-of-14 from beyond the arc in the last three contests.

                            BUZZER BEATERS

                            1. Timberwolves rookie SG Josh Okogie is averaging 16.8 points over the last four games - nearly twice his season average of 8.5.

                            2. Clippers SF Danilo Gallinari scored 20 or more points in each of his last nine games.

                            3. Los Angeles suffered a 130-120 loss at Minnesota on Feb. 11 despite 45 points from Williams.

                            Prediction: Clippers 120, Timberwolves 111

The Atlanta Hawks continue to make strides as their rebuilding season winds down, winning four of their past seven games entering Tuesday night's visit to the struggling New Orleans Pelicans. Atlanta has won four of its past seven games with back-to-back victories over playoff teams, including Saturday's 129-127 home triumph over Philadelphia in which rookie Trae Young sank the game-winning basket with 0.1 seconds remaining.

"Those are the types of plays you live for, with the clock counting down," Young told reporters after leading the Hawks with 32 points. "I just wanted to get to my strong suit and get to my pull-up, that mid-range floater I have." Like the Hawks, New Orleans has been eliminated from playoff consideration but unlike Atlanta, the Pelicans have dropped eight of their past nine games after Sunday's 113-90 home defeat to Houston. Guard Frank Jackson scored 19 points in the victory for New Orleans, which is using the final games of the season to evaluate young talent. "You want to win and compete every game, but there's a bigger picture that we have to look at," New Orleans coach Alvin Gentry told the media before Sunday's loss.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, FS Southeast (Atlanta), FS New Orleans

ABOUT THE HAWKS (26-48): Young continues his late push for rookie of the year consideration, averaging 23.7 points and 8.9 assists while shooting 40.4 percent from 3-point range in his past 27 games. John Collins leads Atlanta in scoring at 19.4 points and rebounding at 9.7 per game, shooting 56.5 percent from the field. The Hawks remain last in the NBA in points allowed per game (118.6) and turnovers per contest (17.1).

ABOUT THE PELICANS (31-44): Jackson posted his ninth consecutive double-digit scoring game Sunday and is averaging 15.1 points in 31.1 minutes per game across his past 13 contests. Christian Wood, who averaged 29.1 points and 14 rebounds per game for Wisconsin of the G-League this season, scored seven points in eight minutes Sunday in his Pelicans debut. New Orleans ranks third in the NBA in scoring (115.4 points per game) but has averaged 93 points across its past two games.

                              BUZZER BEATERS

                              1. New Orleans guards Jrue Holiday (strained abdomen) and E'Twaun Moore (bruised left quadriceps) each have missed the past eight games.

                              2. Young recorded 11 assists Saturday, marking his fifth game this season with at least 30 points and 10 assists.

                              3. Pelicans C Anthony Davis, who has not played in four of the past 11 games, scored 12 points with 10 rebounds in 20 minutes Sunday.

                              Prediction: Pelicans 119, Hawks 113

Houston Rockets vs. Milwaukee Bucks Preview and Predictions 03-26-2019 in NBA

Giannis Antetokounmpo is progressing from a recent ankle injury and will look for a third consecutive stellar outing when the Milwaukee Bucks host the Houston Rockets on Tuesday. Antetokounmpo is averaging 26.5 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in two games since returning from a two-game absence.

Milwaukee owns a four-game lead over the Toronto Raptors for the top seed in the Eastern Conference after Sunday's 127-105 victory over the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers in which Antetokounmpo contributed 26 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. "I'm going to keep having my mindset, play through the pain, push forward and do whatever it takes for my team to win," Antetokounmpo told reporters afterward. "And when it's something really, really bad, I know they're going to do a great job of pulling me out from the team and telling me to rest." The Rockets are in third place in the Western Conference after recording a 113-90 road win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday for their 14th victory in the past 16 games. Star guard James Harden scored only 28 points against the Pelicans after averaging 59 over the previous two games.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, TNT, AT&T SportsNet Southwest (Houston)

ABOUT THE ROCKETS (47-27): The Rockets were strong from the outset in the win over New Orleans as they built up a 19-point halftime lead en route to the easy win. "We've had previous games where teams weren't as good, or whatever you want to call it, and we kind of let up and we let one slip," Harden told reporters. "So that was a good job from top to bottom, coming in and playing your role and handling business." Backup guard Eric Gordon scored 18 points on six 3-pointers against the Pelicans and reached double digits in each of his past 11 appearances.

ABOUT THE BUCKS (55-19): Milwaukee intends to play it safe with Antetokounmpo down the stretch with shooting guard Malcolm Brogdon (foot) and forward Nikola Mirotic (thumb) already sidelined. "We are dealing with his ankle, and as we have said, if we can have the first seed, that'd be great," Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer told reporters, "but it's not the priority." Veteran guard George Hill would like to be more of an option with Brogdon sidelined and was superb against the Cavaliers by scoring 17 points on 7-of-8 shooting in 21 minutes.

                                BUZZER BEATERS

                                1. Antetokounmpo had 27 points and a career-best 21 rebounds as the Bucks posted a 116-109 road win on Jan. 9 despite Harden pouring in 42 points for the Rockets.

                                2. Houston PF Kenneth Faried has 11 double-doubles in 21 games since joining the club.

                                3. Milwaukee C Pau Gasol (ankle) will miss the rest of the regular season but could return in the postseason depending on how far the club advances.

                                Prediction: Rockets 123, Bucks 117
