The Bryce Harper-is-back hysteria from Tuesday night’s Phillies at Nationals game should be less intense for the next day’s matinee. It also helps that Philadelphia will have Aaron Nola on the mound. Nola didn’t have his best stuff on Opening Day, but still allowed just one run over six innings in a win over the Braves. He was dominant in four of his five starts against Washington last year, allowing two or fewer runs over 6-8 innings in each. Anibal Sanchez, 35, makes his debut for the Nats, but he isn’t likely to go more than five innings and he’s backed by a bullpen with an ERA over 10. The Nats have the bats to take advantage.

The St Louis Cardinals will look for back to back wins for the first time this season when they take on the Pirates at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, PA on Wednesday night. Miles Mikolas (0-1, 9.00 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) will get the start for the Cardinals and he will be opposed by Jameson Taillon (0-1, 6.00 ERA, 1.33 WHIP), who is scheduled to get the call on the hill for the Pirates. The Cardinals have posted a 21-10 record in their last 31 games off a game where they scored five runs or more and they have gone an excellent 38-16 in their last 54 games where they faced a team with a winning % of .400 or lower. They have also won twelve of Mikolas' last fourteen starts where he faced a team with a losing record and they are an impressive 21-7 in his last 28 starts overall. The Pirates, on the other hand, have struggled a bit in the spot they are in here tonight as they have gone just 1-4 in their last five games following an off day going back to the 2018 season and they have lost five of their last six games off a game where when facing a team that gave up five runs or more in their previous game. Throw in the fact that the Cards have gone 5-1 in their last six games at PNC Park and we're taking them at the even money or so price to get the road win in Pittsburgh on Wednesday night.
