The Padres have certainly been the better team through 10 games this season. But my projections favor Derek Holland, and they like the Giants to compete at home Wednesday. San Francisco wins a solid 55 percent of my computer simulations, which at an underdog money line makes them a great value pick.

The A's managed two runs in two games at Houston this weekend, but they're due for a bounce-back and playing the Orioles usually helps. My projections are high on Oakland, even on the road and even with Marco Estrada starting, even as the A's are 0-3 when he gets the ball. It's due to an offense that is averaging nearly six runs in my many simulations off Andrew Cashner and the Orioles relievers. Take the Athletics.

It's won both of Hyun-Jin Ryu's start, and my projections call for another win. The money line price is right to back the Dodgers.

The Cubbies are winning in two-thirds of my simulations, a number usually reserved for teams at -200 on the money line. Jump all over the Cubs at this price.

The Rockies will eventually get rolling, but the offense isn't there yet, averaging a measly 2.8 runs per game. They've been especially poor against RHPs, hitting them at a .217 clip. Atlanta, meanwhile, averages nearly five runs per game and is hitting .292 off lefties, fifth-best in the majors. Kyle Freeland is tough, but Julio Teheran's .185 average allowed in 14 road starts last year shows he likes getting away from the pressure of home fans. He allowed 26 HRs in 31 starts, so the thin air of Denver won't affect him like some.

Homer Bailey was serviceable in his first start for the Royals, but he was decent in his season opener last year too before finishing 1-14 with a 6.09 ERA. The Mariners' offense, which ranks fifth in the league against right-handed pitchers and is averaging a robust 8.6 runs per game, can get to him. KC's bullpen has given up 21 runs in 23.1 innings, so there's no relief there. What Felix Hernandez is motivated to prove he's not done yet, and here's a good spot against a Royals team that's lost five straight.

Masahiro Tanaka has been superb so far this season, but the Astros have given him trouble. He'll need to be real good at Houston as the offense remains beat up and limited. The current Astros lineup, however is batting .349 against him all-time. Justin Verlander got knocked around by the Rangers last time out, but he's great at home (.193 average allowed in 2018). Against New York last year, he allowed one run over 14.2 innings with no walks and 19 strikeouts. Aaron Judge is 0-fer against all-time.

The A's are 0-3 when Marco Estrada pitches, but he's 0-0 with a 2.76 ERA. And he's been dominant against these Orioles hitters, holding them to a career 14-of-82 clip (.171). The A's offense should pick it up against Andrew Cashner, who hasn't been great this year so far, and who last year allowed 10 runs over 6.2 innings against Oakland. Cashner's relief will come from a bullpen that has a 7.97 ERA and .333 average against.

While the Pirates, at 5-3, post a challenge, Pittburgh is a brutally bad .111 against half-handed pitching, and it faces a LHP who loves throwing at Wrigley Field in Jon Lester. Jameson Taillon likes throwing at Wrigley, too, but the Cubs have been hitting .326 off righties and are averaing 6.9 runs per game. The offense hasn't been the issue, and Lester is in a good spot.
