LIL PISTOLA - Don't throw this animal out due to his last event at Indiana Downs where he ran sixth on a track listed as good. I look for an improvement today. Horse didn't hit the board in last race, but did beat half the field, and made up ground in the stretch. A slight improvement and this horse should be right there at the finish line. CREATIVE MIST - Was in an Allowance race at Charles Town last time around the track. That clash had a class figure of 85 and he is moving down in this field. A certain win candidate. The thoroughbred with the top average Equibase class figure in turf events is usually a solid play. This thoroughbred fits the bill.

PALEEZE - Broberg drops her down to this level. You don't need too much more handicapping data to believe this one has a shot at this level. Entered a $10,000 Maiden Claiming race at Fair Grounds in the last race and raced on a sloppy track finishing fourth. Have to do better in this race. In her first race, this animal was beaten up badly. She should improve in today's race. Expect better today as this filly gets Lasix for the 2nd time. This animal is in the top spot in earnings per race entered. She looks sharp in today's race. SMOKEY ROSE - The return on investment when Magnon and Hurley get together is fantastic. This thoroughbred coming off a good race in the last month or so is a win candidate in my humble opinion. Generally accepted angle - 3rd or 4th start after a layoff generally leads to a big effort. Going to run a nice one here. 21-24-34 are last three speed figs. Improving each time out is something she should do again in this field. WHERE'S MY LUTE - With no past performances, one of the variables I look at are trainer stats, and Silva has a +171 pct ROI rate with 1st timers. The addition of Lasix might make this horse wake up and run a great today.

Maybe there is something wrong with his elbow or it's just a case of getting mechanics straighten out, but Jacob deGrom hasn't been pitching like he normally does. The Mets are 0-3 in deGrom's last three starts. During this span, deGrom has given up 14 runs in 13 innings. So with an underdog price this big, I'll throw a peanut on the Reds just in case deGrom still isn't right. Cincinnati is going with Anthony DeSclafani, who looked great in his last start throwing six scoreless innings against the Cardinals giving up four hits in a 12-1 win. DeSclafani has allowed just one run during his past two starts spanning 12 innings. So he certainly is in good form. The Mets aren't likely to have one of their better bats either as Robinson Cano has missed the past two games due to a bruised hand.
