NBA Playoffs(Bob Balfe)

Rotation #519-520
Rockets -7 over Warriors
Right off the bat the general public is going to bet the Warriors because they are getting the most points in the Steve Kerr era. There is no debate that this bench does not live up to NBA quality. This team relies on the starters to win games. Now with that in mind take away the best player in the game. With Kevin Durant out of the lineup this team becomes super predictable. The Rockets actually were in this situation last year when they lost their super star in Chris Paul the last few games. Houston is in survival mode. I don’t think the Warriors are close to the team they were the last few years and taking away their best player in a huge deal. Take Houston.

100 DIME WINNER
HOUSTON ROCKETS in their Western Conference showdown against the Golden State Warriors. As I release this play at 11 am eastern, the line I see is Houston -7.

If the season were to end right now, Cincinnati starter Luis Castillo would receive a lot of NL Cy Young votes. Still, while Castillo's been great, the Reds are 16-22 on the season and only 7-14 on the road. If you want to trust them as this large a road favorite, that's your prerogative. I don't.

The Rockets weren't able to take advantage of Kevin Durant's injury in Game 5, but I think that changes Friday night. With their backs against the wall, and Golden State wounded, I'm expecting a huge performance from the Rockets, and James Harden in particular.

Every game in this series has been close and Game 6 should follow suit, even with Kevin Durant out. Look for Steph Curry and Klay Thompson to each have big games as the Warriors keep it close. Grab the points.

This is a reasonable price on the Cubs and Jose Quintana, who's 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA at Wrigley. They've won his last five starts. Look for Quintana to make amends for his disastrous start at Milwaukee back on April 5.
CLEVELAND @ OAKLAND | 5/10 | 9:37 PM EDT
11:10 AM
We keep waiting for the Cleveland offense to figure it out but it's not happening. In fact, it's actually gotten worse. The Indians are averaging just 2.6 runs per game in the last week. It won't get any easier against Frankie Montas and his 2.75 ERA, especially on the road where they're hitting only .206 on the year. The Indians counter with a spot starter who lasted just two-thirds of an inning in his lone start this year.

The Cardinals' offense broke out of a big funk with 17 runs on Thursday. Now they face a Pirates starter in Trevor Williams that had a 4.94 ERA in six starts against them last year. St. Louis' lineup is a lifetime .348 against him. Adam Wainwright was roughed up his last outing but overall he's thrown far better at home by limiting walks and home runs. The Pirates rank 28th out of 30 teams in homers hit on the road, and 29th in walks drawn.

The Rockets have a chance to do something tonight not done against the Warriors ever in their championship dynasty: make a statement with a blowout win. That would typically point to the Over. But, if this game gets out of hand, look for Steve Kerr to save his team's energy for a Game 7. That places value on the Under Friday night.

Two pitching factors point to the Over Friday night between the Padres and Rockies. Padres Starter Eric Lauer has not pitched beyond 5.2 innings in four straight starts. And Rockies starter German Marquez has been hit hard in four of his last six starts. Playing at Coors Field is typically an indicator to follow the trends of pitchers, but the oddsmakers did a great job tilting this line upward. Grab the value on the Under.

The outlook on Friday’s White Sox-Blue Jays matchup has flipped with Clay Buchholz being scratched. Toronto’s losing eight of its last nine will tempt bettors to the underdog White Sox. Instead, expect the Blue Jays to snap out of their offensive slump (one run in three games). Grab Toronto.

Last night, the Diamondbacks won in extra innings against the Braves, 3-2. Can they carry momentum over into the second game of the series Friday night? With Zack Greinke on the mound, one would think so. His only loss was the season opener on March 28. Yet look for the Braves to reverse last night’s result and get the cash as the plus-payout value underdog.
