Game: (961) San Diego Padres at (962) Los Angeles Dodgers Date/Time: May 14 2019 10:10 PM EDT Betting Line Provider: Pinnacle Play Rating: 5% Play: 1H San Diego Padres +140
The San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers square off tonight in on of the Tuesday night caps. This NL West clash features a starting pitching matchup that is not being priced correctly in the marketplace. Clayton Kershaw has given up 15 hits and only has 10 strikeouts in his last 12.2 innings pitched. He also faced the Padres just 11 days ago, having a pedestrian performance of 6 innings and 3 earned runs. Kershaw still has some miles left on his arm, but the velocity dropping from 95 mph to 90/91 mph over the last couple years can not go unaccounted for and it is showing in his results of late. The Padres are sending out one of the top young arms in the majors, Chris Paddack. He will light up the radar gun and force the issue with the opposing lineups. Over his last 20.2 innings he has recorded 25 strikeouts with only 3 walks, giving up only 2 earned runs. These numbers include the last three games he has pitched (NYM, ATL, SEA). Also, a key point in the handicap is the Padres lineup just saw Kershaw 11 days ago, where as the Dodgers lineup has not yet seen Chris Paddack this year. An interesting and compounding angle because the Padres are spacing out Paddacks starts to limit the innings on his young arm. He is pitching on extra rest tonight. The Dodgers are one of the top lineups in MLB overall this year, but over the last two weeks their bats have not stayed as hot. Plus, going against Paddack and laying a -150 or higher price tag, the underdog should be barking loudly tonight. I do look towards the Padres full game, but this 5% top wager is on the 1st 5 inning line SD +140. Cuting out the later innings and not giving up much in terms of price I see more value in. (961) San Diego Padres +140 1st 5 Innings.
Game:(11) Boston Bruins at (12) Carolina Hurricanes Date/Time: May 14 2019 8:08 PM EDT Betting Line Provider: Pinnacle Play Rating: 5% Play: Total Under 5.5 (-116)
Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals and the Canes find themselves in a 2-0 hole after 5-2 and 6-2 losses in Boston but return home to PNC Arena where they've gone 5-0 in the playoffs while only allowing a total of 7 goals. This series has bared a strong resemblance of the Canes first round match up with the Capitals where they dropped 4-2 and 4-3 losses with undisciplined penalties and power play goals putting them into a hole. They were able to flip that series with strong defensive efforts at home and will likely switch to backup Curtis McElhinney between the pipes with Mrazek having struggled in the first two back after an injury in game 3 of the Conference semi's. Game 3 adjustments in the Eastern Conference playoffs this season have led to the Under hitting in 5 of 6 and we'd expect a stronger defensive game from the Hurricanes in what likely is a must win game. The play is Under 5.5 -116
